Chapter 32 - Gifting the Neighbors and A Visit to the Clinic

Another week has passed by and the farm has flourished enough to the point that it is starting to look lively once more compared to its gloomy look back when Elaina has yet to buy the place.

The morning sickness that Elaina feels every morning also gets shorter and bearable enough. It is not yet gone but it is now manageable for Elaina and she also started to get used to it.

Not only that but Elaina also starts to get used to her new life. It's not that much of a struggle but compared to her life when she was still the empress, Elaina felt more fulfilled doing her tasks and job, making it less stressful for her. It is much easier for Elaina to be surrounded by nature compared to her previous work, surrounded by stacks of papers and faces of people who are either insincere or just plain scheming.

The harvests have been good so far and thanks to her effort and the magical powers of the Harvest Goddess, the crops she has planted start to bloom and are almost ready for harvests. It will only take her a few more days before she can reap all of them.

As for the eggs, Elaina has not yet shipped any of them as she is making sure she will ship multiple of them instead of just one. So far she had already racked up a dozen eggs which is now enough for her to ship all of them later on.

She also tested the egg quality of the Hencluckle and saw the difference by cooking a few of them and Elaina found an upgrade to the normal egg and how it is different. Compared to the normal chicken egg, the shell is a little tough which would stop it from accidentally breaking unless someone put strength to break the shell.

The new egg is not that different from the normal chicken egg in terms of taste. Elaina and even Julia didn't find any sort of difference from eating them at all. As for the size of the egg, it is drastically much bigger than the normal egg. Much bigger than the XL size of the chicken eggs and it can be classified as XXL size.

Sadly, she can't test it by using it as an ingredient for making cakes, pastries, or any sort of dish that requires eggs. She can only make fried, boiled, scrambled, and omelet-style eggs due to the lack of proper kitchen tools.

Due to this, Elaina found a good reason for her to gift the neighbors some of the produce she had harvested. It is also a good way for her to show that she appreciates the community's help especially when Marigold introduced her to them so she got an idea of offering them some batches of vegetables.

It isn't the only reason why Elaina wanted to start doing this. If people knew the quality of her vegetables and goods, once she started to create a stall for her vegetables, people would soon learn how fresh and good quality her products and they will start buying more and perhaps, even make her a supplier of some sort. It is a good way to publicly introduce stuff to the masses and slowly let their palate accept it. A slow but steady process for the future.

Right now, Elaina and Julia are preparing to go to the town to give some of the goods to the people. Thankfully, the neighborhood is not that big so Elaina will not need to give so much of her stocks for free to everyone. And it's not like she will distribute them to the city as well. The amount of veggies and other stuff they carry is not enough for the people in the city to accept.

"Sis! I am ready!" Elaina heard Julia as she went out of the house while using magic to levitate the two boxes containing the vegetables they were going to give out to the people.

"Hey, are you sure you don't need help? I know that I don't use magic but I also know that it is taxing to use magic like this for long," Elaina is concerned.

"Don't worry sis, this process is much simpler and easy to do. I have done this multiple times back when I was still a maid under your wing in the castle so this is nothing new. And it costs a minuscule amount of mana, you don't need to worry too much," Julia reassured Elaina. "And besides, you shouldn't carry heavy things like this. You are pregnant and doing this on top of your job as a farmer will just make you more fatigued, which is bad for the babies. Don't worry about me, Sis.

Elaina sighed. "Fine, as long as you are fine, then it shouldn't be much of a matter. Anyway, let's get going. We don't want the people leaving their houses before we can deliver this stuff."

The two left, heading straight to the village. Without them knowing, the little cat that had started to remain there and quietly stayed inside the doghouse went to the front door of the house and lay down like a housecat waiting for the master of the house to return. It seems the cat creature starts to guard the house while no one is present but Elaina and Julia will not know this matter just yet.

Elaina and Julia started to move from house to house and started handing out vegetables to the neighbors. Since Marigold has already introduced her to most villagers, they already knew her as a farmer, and seeing that she was giving them vegetables for free, everyone is delighted. Who would decline free food without needing to spend money after all?

She also didn't forget to drop by the Pub and deliver vegetables as well which made the big guy happy seeing the fresh ingredients he received. He promised Elaina and Julia to make use of those vegetables for later and urged the two to drop by later to get the finished product. The people working for Marigold are also quite happy they received some goods as well, creating a more positive look for Elaina and her reputation. Marigold also praises Elaina for this and she encourages her to keep up the good work.

At the end of the day, Elaina and Julia had given out most of the stuff to everyone. The only place they haven't handed out vegetables is the clinic. The reason they made the clinic the last place to give vegetables is also due to Elaina. Since it has been a while since she asked the doctor, it is time for her for another checkup.
