Chapter 19 - Miracle Fertilizer

"Alright, alright! Fine! I will abide by these rules just don't forcefully kick me out of here or even punish me! I didn't do anything wrong and I am doing my job just fine! If that is not enough then I will throw in this little bonus item that is imbued with my power, just don't do anything that would result in my punishment or banishment! Please!"

"What do you think? Should we kick her out? I am very capable of doing that. And besides, I can do a much better job than her if you want me to do that."

Elaina shook her head. "It's fine. It would be cruel of me to kick her out when she is just asking for some offerings. As long as it isn't daily and I can offer it anytime, then it should be fine!"

"Yes, yes! You can do that! I am not forcing you to give me any! Just some donations and I would be already happy!" the Harvest Goddess is desperate in case the higher-ranked god before her might suddenly banish her.

"If what she said is fine, then you should consider yourself lucky. Because if I were her, I would just kick you out of my premises."

Hearing this, the Harvest Goddess seems to have felt the relief washing over her and bowed down multiple times as she expressed her gratitude.

"Thank you, thank you. I swear, you won't be disappointed by my presence here. As a gift, I will give you this. Just use it on your crops that have yet to grow from their seeds and you will see the effects of this."

The Harvest Goddess then hands Elaina a bag full of black soil. Elaina felt the soil and she could tell it was so fine that it felt more like it was ground by a grinder to the point it was just a powder. If she didn't know better, she might mistake it for some sort of cocoa powder or maybe powdered coffee.

"Is this some kind of fertilizer?" Elaina asked.

"Yes! I developed that myself and I was planning to personally use it on some trees or plants that have a hard time growing naturally but this is an exception and I would allow you to have some of these."

Elaina was surprised and a bit happy as well. That must mean this is a sort of fertilizer.

"If this ever runs out, do I need to ask you for more?"

"W-well...if you needed more, you will have to call me..." she keeps glancing at the parrot perched on Elaina's shoulder, afraid of what she wanted to say but forced herself to say it.

"...but I will not give this for free. I will ask for some offerings in exchange for a bag of this. After all, I don't want to just give these for free. These are originally meant for me to use it myself and not for distribution to other people."

"Hmm, I think that is understandable. I would also feel guilty asking for more if I can just receive this for free. Since you said you needed offering, that must mean you will exchange any offering I gave you with a bag of this fertilizer."

"Y-yes..." she still looked afraid she might have caused the anger of the parrot.

"Ah, then asking for offerings in exchange for some service like this is more appropriate. I will not reprimand you on this matter. But are you sure this will work? If this won't work, then you will receive my punishment."

Hearing this, the Harvest Goddess puffed her chest proudly. "Then I will gladly accept my punishment if it indeed failed to work. After all, this is my work and something that I am very proud of. But I am confident enough that it won't be a failure. You won't be sorry, honest!"

Hearing her enthusiastic response, Elaina could tell that she was very sure about the quality of her work and she was very confident that it would not fail. So this fertilizer is a very good item.

"So how does this work then? I know it is a fertilizer but how does it differ from the other fertilizers?"

"You know that Fertilizers are capable of helping the planted crops to grow faster and receive an increased quality as well, right? This fertilizer is different as not only will it exponentially affect growth rate but it will also enhance harvest rates, less bad crops, increase growth, increase crop quality, and ensure a healthy crop remains healthy as well. Not only that but compared to other fertilizers, this one can instantly grow a crop as well as make it a giant one! Of course, these are just little probabilities so don't expect it to happen many times but you can say that there is a chance for those to happen to any of your crops planted. All vegetables planted have a chance to become a giant crop overnight before harvest though these effects won't happen to any trees you grow the instantaneous growth might happen to the fruit trees so don't be surprised if it happens."

"Then, since we are done here, I should go back. I shouldn't stay here for too long."

"I have one last question," Elaina made a final conversation with the Harvest Goddess.

"What is it?"

"If I will try to offer items to you, do I leave them here near the stream?"

"Nope. Just drop the item you wish to offer to me and I will receive it. Don't worry about polluting the water since it won't land straight into the water. Alright, I will go back now."

And with that, the Harvest Goddess disappeared and the bright glow disappeared.

"Well, things sure have gone to a different way. But since it benefits you, I guess it doesn't matter?" the parrot spoke.

"Is that your real form?" Elaina asked.

"Nonsense! My form is much more majestic than a parrot. However, I don't want to personally materialize and cause a disturbance so this kind of materialization would suffice. Anyway, I will add this information to the Almanac and will add some estimations as well on the crops and how they will be affected as well. Bye now. You can still contact me like usual but I won't appear in this form."

With a poof, the parrot disappeared, only leaving a few feathers that also disappeared on the ground after it landed.

"Well, this turned out to be a good day."

Elaina finished taking water from her watering can and started her farm work for that day. As for the crops that will receive the first fertilizer that she will be using, she has an idea of which crop she will test.
