Days pass by after the big harvest and Elaina and Julia have both gotten accustomed to their new lifestyle. Julia also started to make potions for Elaina with the medicinal herbs they found in the forest as the ingredients. Since Elaina started shipping potions, the earnings have increased significantly and the money that Elaina had lost from buying different tools and necessities during her first day is slowly recovering from the loss.
As for the vegetables, not only was it big, but it was also much tastier and much higher in terms of quality and texture. It was the best vegetable she had eaten in her whole life.
Not only that, the effects of the dishes that came out turned out to be really helpful and very valuable to the point that they can even fully energize a person, increase their power, or downright heal them. Elaina was shocked at these revelations and how it will affect them in the future.
Currently, Elaina is resting after clearing out the field and checking on the new sprouts one by one. She is also gathering a few materials necessary to make a scarecrow. With how numerous birds coming in and out, it would be disastrous if those birds just decided to peck at her crops.
While resting, Elaina is discussing things with the unknown god about the safety of shipping the vegetables she and Julia harvested.
"Are you sure that we can just ship this just fine?" Elaina asked the god.
"[Yes. Even if the people suspect something is wrong with the seeds, their investigations will be for naught as there will be no signs that the vegetables have tampered with magic and other stuff that causes vegetables to grow fast. And even if you consider the fertilizer, it doesn't count as magic as that was fertilizer and it was absorbed by the plants. If they try to investigate you, they will not find any sort of way to understand how you are doing everything like this.]"
"Is it that normal? Because even I thought it might be tampered with magic especially since it comes from you who is a higher being than humans."
"[Our magic does not leave any traces much aside from holy power residue. But we also made sure those residues would not remain on the seeds as they can also affect the growth of the seeds. And although they are modified, that doesn't mean it is not safe to eat. Eating a dish created by using one of the vegetables will allow a normal person to gain buffs as they have eaten from a dish cooked by a blessed person and that is a big deal, don't you think?]"
"Mmm, so what would happen if the blessed person cooked food from the ingredients that I grow?'
"Then their effects will enhance further. Although I don't know the exact extent, all I know is that the normal effects will be enhanced."
Elaina had a basic understanding of the vegetables just now. Since her task is to make these vegetables spread all over the world and let them prosper, Elaina can say that these vegetables are something that will make traction all over the world. Not only will the old vegetables become obsolete, but they will no longer be planted and will be ignored as well, in favor of the new seeds.
"[I can see your worries. And I also know that will happen eventually, however, you should know by now that these vegetables are just a test for our experimental seeds. These seeds are just something that we are releasing for you exclusively and they cannot be replicated by any seed makers. So even if they try to make a seed from it, they will only fail to do so. Besides, these seeds are only available for you in the beginning as well. Once you have finally secured your funds properly to sustain yourself, then that will also be the time that we will be releasing our experimental seeds that you will be growing.]"
Elaina quickly understood this. Since her situation is not in the best condition to help them, god is helping her increase her funds a lot faster. Once she gets by after earning enough money, that would mean she will be saying goodbye to the effects of these crops. Not like she will plant any in the future.
"[You don't have to worry about saying goodbye to these effects. We will sell goods that will affect the normal vegetables and make them have the same abilities as these vegetables, but they will have significantly weaker effects and their growth speed will not be the same as before. But they will be closer or the same depending on how you grow them all.]"
"So not truly saying goodbye to them then?"
"[Yes. If you wish normal crops to have those effects, you can do that. But you can only purchase those things once these seeds are phased out so right now, those items are not available for you right now.]"
Elaina nodded in relief about this. If that is the case, things would be fine even if they get phased out in the future. Knowing what will come in the future, Elaina is slowly gonna plan things out and also expand her activities rather than remain as a farmer.
For now, it seems no one has realized that the potatoes and Parsnips she has shipped are of different variants and are much healthier than average parsnips and potatoes. But that harvest alone already made enough money for Elaina to construct buildings like a coop or a barn. Farm animals would be a good way for the business to work for both meat and farm products like milk and eggs. Not only that but it is also very consistent in producing items every day, making it easier for Elaina to have other sources of income aside from foraging.
After Elaina felt refreshed and also talked the matter to the god, she was about to resume her work when someone came to her farm. They saw her resting underneath the tree so they immediately called her to catch her attention.
"Huh? Is something wrong?" Elaina stood up and realized that these people seemed to be the workers of the Adventurer's Guild. But what are they here for?
"We are from the Adventurer's Guild and we are here to ask you a survey regarding the situation of the dungeon. Since you are the one nearby, having your experience recorded will allow us to know whether the dungeon has started its activity, whether monsters have started to appear, or whether any invaders have entered the farm at night or day that disturb you."
"Shouldn't the adventurers be the ones who should be conducting the survey and personally checking the dungeon themselves?"
"It has been always checked and controlled by the adventurers but since there is barely anything left inside that dungeon aside from some little monsters that spawn here and there, most adventurers are shifting their attention to other matters and other bigger exploits that can help them grow stronger. Which is why we are trying to see whether the matter became dangerous enough or are there any signs of monsters appearing out of the dungeon."
Elaina remembered the cat with wings on the doghouse and realized it might be a monster. However, because the cat seemed to be docile enough and didn't seem to be causing anything, Elaina shook her head.
"Not really. If you are talking about some wild animals, they do exist but they are not troublesome and I managed to get rid of them. As for monsters that only exist in dungeons, nothing so far."
"We appreciate the answer. Thank you very much. But before we leave, we will install a guild bell here. You can ring this if things get really bad and monsters start to invade. We will be deploying adventurers immediately to solve it."
"Sure, just place it next to the mailbox then."
The guild workers immediately put a little device that then formed the Guild Bell. It is like a normal chapel bell, except it is much smaller.
"Ringing this will allow us to immediately know if there is any trouble here. And aside from its little handle that will shake the tongue of the bell, nothing else will make it ring so even throwing a stone or accidentally shaking it with a metal object would not make it ring it so don't worry."
After the installation of the bell, Elaina bid farewell to them as she looked at the entrance to the forest with her mind filled about the dungeon.
"Perhaps I should explore it with Julia in the future?"
