Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Summoning

Lily spent the next few days poring over the book of magic. She read and reread the it, trying to memorize every word. She practiced drawing the symbols on scraps of paper, hoping to get them just right.

As she worked, she felt a sense of excitement building within her. For the first time in a long time, she felt like she had a purpose. Like she was capable of doing something great.

Finally, on the fourth night after her encounter with the man on the bridge, Lily was ready. She made her way back to the river, clutching the book tightly in her hands.

She stood on the bridge, looking out over the water. The moon was full and bright, casting a silvery glow over everything. She took a deep breath and began to chant the incantation.

At first, nothing happened. Lily felt a surge of disappointment and fear. Had she done something wrong? Was this all just a lie?

But then, she felt a strange energy building around her. It was like a cold wind blowing through her body, making her shiver. She closed her eyes and continued to chant.

Suddenly, there was a loud crackling sound, and Lily felt a rush of heat and light. When she opened her eyes again, she saw a figure standing before her.

It was a demon, just as the man on the bridge had promised. It was tall and muscular, with sharp claws and glowing red eyes. It radiated power and danger, and Lily felt a thrill of fear run through her.

But she also felt a sense of awe and wonder. She had summoned a demon! She had done something incredible!

The demon spoke to her in a voice that rumbled like thunder. "What do you desire?" it asked.

Lily hesitated for a moment. She had so many things she wanted. She wanted to be happy, to be free of her depression and anxiety. She wanted to be successful, to have a fulfilling career and a loving family. She wanted to be powerful, to have control over her life and her destiny.

But in the end, there was only one thing she truly desired.

"I want revenge ," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The demon nodded. "Very well," it said. "I can grant you that wish. But be warned, there will be a price."

Lily didn't care about the price. All she cared about was get her revenge from all those who has done her wrong. She nodded eagerly.

The demon reached out a clawed hand and touched her forehead. Lily felt a jolt of pain shoot through her body, and then everything went dark.

When she woke up, she was lying on the bridge, alone. The book of magic was gone, and so was the demon. But Lily felt different. She felt stronger, more alive.

She looked out over the river, feeling a sense of hope and possibility for the first time in years. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew that she was ready to face it. And whatever challenges lay ahead, she knew that she would survive them.

Because now, thanks to the demon's gift, she had something she had never had before: a reason to live.
