"Lucian, please." Seraphina said with her voice barely edible. She was having difficulties in breathing and her heart was beating fast due to fear. She placed her hand on her chest as she watched Lucian place him down and looked back at her.
"Are you okay?" He asked with a raised brow. She didn't look okay at all.
"I'm… fine." She managed to force out before rushing out of the hall. Lucian followed her and she stepped into the bathroom, searching her bag for her pills.
"Seraphina, are you okay?" He asked from outside and she forced out an answer as she slid down the floor, popping two pills in her mouth.
"This is getting worse. I don't know what to do now." Seraphina thought as she let out a deep breath after sitting there for two minutes. She took her phone from her bag and called her doctor immediately.
"What is it this time Seraphina?" He asked from the other side of the phone.
"The crisis is getting worse and I don't think the pills can strengthen me for long." She said with a low voice to make sure Lucian wasn't hearing her.
"I told you already, Seraphina. You have to stop working and put yourself in a position where your heart will be stressed. You know we haven't found a cure to the heart disease yet and if you keep on stressing yourself, you'll end up killing yourself." The doctor said calmly and Seraphina sighed before humming.
"Thank you." She said before hanging up. She forced herself up and checked herself in the mirror before stepping out.
Lucian was standing at the other side of the hall and rushed to her when he saw her step out. "Are you okay? I'm sorry, did I scare you?" He asked, and for the first time, Seraphina saw him express another emotions.
"It is not your fault, sir. I am sorry for disturbing you." She bowed her head and internally, Lucian was relieved but he still wondered what was wrong with her.
"Let's get back to the hall." He said and when they got to the hall, the gala already started. Everyone was busy discussing with each other, laughing and smiling.
"You sent for me, sir." Gabriel said walking up next to Lucian who turned away from Seraphina who was still looking around the hall.
"Does she have any medical condition on her resume?" Lucian asked and Gabriel shook his head in a negative response. "Her actions a few minutes ago were like she was having an attack worse than a panic attack. Find out for me, as fast as you can."
"Yes, sir." Gabriel bowed before walking out of the hall. Lucian returned to Seraphina's side after he left.
"You shouldn't lose yourself on the spot Seraphina. There are wicked eyes here so stay close to me." He said and she nodded before following him to his seat.
"Welcome everyone. I would like to thank you all for making this meeting possible. We all know this is a place to strengthen your ties with other packs and cities and maybe make a truce with your enemies." The hostess said with a bright smile.
"I would like to specially welcome Prince Lucian Van del Turo of the Duskborne Clan. Thank you for acknowledging our invitation this year. We celebrate you, your highness."
The spotlight fell on Lucian and he just leaned back in his chair with his arms folded as everyone applauded him. Seraphina wondered how he was still able to keep his cold expression despite all the attention.
"Without any further delay, let us welcome, Alpha Ralph." The hostess announced and a proud looking man stepped up to the stage.
"I would like to thank you all for being here today and honoring my pack to be the venue of this big meeting of the year. And I know…"
Suddenly, sounds of gunshots filled the room as the large floor to ceiling glass shattered. The whole hall turned into chaos as people started moving to leave the place.
Lucian stood up and the whiff of rogue werewolves and vampires along with humans, hit him. In a swift seconds, Gabriel arrived in the room and took Seraphina, lifting her up.
"Get her out of here now." Lucian commanded and Gabriel nodded before sprinting out of the room in his insane speed.
Seraphina wasn't even given the time to process anything. "What's going on?" Seraphina asked.
"I'm sorry for the disturbance, miss. They must have known Prince Lucian was there." Gabriel said as he placed her in the car and got in from the other side.
"What do you mean?" Seraphina asked as he started the engine of the car.
"Prince Lucian is a royal blood. He has enemies all around and they must have realized he was here. They can't attack him in our clan because they are always outnumbered no matter what." Gabriel explained as he drove off.
Seraphina looked out the window, trying to put her fear in place. "Will he be okay?" Seraphina asked and Gabriel wondered why the duo were so interested in each other and yet aren't officially acting like it.
"He is Lucian Van del Turo. He is always okay." Gabriel said as he drove back to the airport where some hostesses were waiting for her, at Lucian's plane. "Take her back to the clan. Immediately. His highness' orders."
Back in the hotel, a figure jumped in and landed right in front of Lucian with a sly smirk. "If it isn't Prince Lucian himself."
"What is it this time Adrian?" Lucian asked calmly.
"You know what I want, so give it to me now." Adrian said as he lifted up his gun, aiming right at Lucian.
Lucian chuckled as he sat back down with his legs crossed. "Isn't that sweet of you Adrian. Very sweet of you, and very foolish of you."
"I'm glad you noticed my sweet side cousin. Now enough with the sweet talks. Give it to me now." Adrian's voice thundered but Lucian didn't budge.
"Go to hell." He uttered, as the echoes of fifteen gunshots reverberated, plunging the whole surrounding into an eerie silence
