In a haste, Seraphina hurried towards the elevator, eager to reach Lucian's floor. Since she arrived from the gala, she was asked to take the week off, orders from him and although she didn't want to, she had no choice.
The elevator door was stopped before closing and her eyes widened when Asher stepped into the elevator right next to her. She wasn't surprised she had to encounter him at work but she didn't get why she was so nervous about standing next to him now.
"So, I heard the new employee is suddenly Prince Lucian's secretary. Does that mean she was willing to sell her body for a position, yet she refused to give her body to her own fiance." Asher commented, adjusting the sleeves of his shirt.
Seraphina tried her best to keep calm and say nothing, but that only made him continue. "There are also rumors you spent the night with him in Cloud 9."
"I don't see how any of that is your business, Asher. We are done, remember." Seraphina pointed out and he chuckled gently, turning to face her.
"How cute. You are going after my boss to make me jealous, aren't you?" His lips turned up in a smirk as he took a step closer to her. "Although I called off our engagement, you are still my mate, and I didn't break off our mate bond."
"Then I reject you. I am human doesn't mean I can't refuse to be a werewolf's mate." Seraphina retorted with anger, making him seize her chin forcefully.
"I still want you, Seraphina. If you want to go on messing around with men, do not go close to Lucian, because I hate him." His voice came out in a threatening manner, accompanied by a growl.
Seraphina tried to get away from his grip but he was too strong for her to fight off. He seemed like he was enjoying the sight of her struggling and trying to catch her breathing before the elevator door opened. They both looked at the open door, Lucian was standing there with his hands in his pockets.
His eye color flashed red as his eyes settled on Asher's grip on her chin. As Asher saw him, he let go of her before walking out of the elevator, brushing past Lucian.
"Good morning sir." She immediately bowed, but he wasn't paying attention to her. His eyes followed Asher as he walked away.
"Did he hurt you?" He said, stepping into the elevator to examine her chin. His touch on her skin sent sparks all through her body.
"No sir, I'm fine." She replied with a slight now and he pulled away from her gently, looking at the red mark on her skin. He wondered why her skin was so soft, he remembered the other night when he grabbed her neck, he saw her skin immediately become bruised.
"Who is he to you?" He asked with his eyes fixed on the the numbers of floors the elevator was counting.
"He is no one important." She replied, still trying to get her breath steady, trying her possible best not to let him notice but he noticed.
"Are you…"
Before he could finish his sentence, the elevator door opened and she rushed out of the elevator.
"That was the second time she was doing that. Why will you tell me she has no health issues?" Lucian slammed his fist against the table.
"I went through all the hospital records and the only personal sick I found was her father, sir. She has no health condition and if she does, the doctor probably kept it between them." Gabriel informed, his expression indifferent.
On the inside he was still wondering why Lucian was so interested in this new employee of his whom he suddenly promoted to the rank of his secretary.
"I want reports on her health before tonight or you will be the one with the health issues." He threatened and Gabriel bowed before stepping out of the room.
He wanted to know everything about her. There was something about her scent he knew was not normal for a human to have.
Duskborne Clan has a lot of humans, werewolves, vampires and other creatures but none had the unique scent he was getting from her and he seems to be the only one who was taking in that scent.
"It is more like her blood's scent than her actual perfume scent." He said with a low voice.
The day slowly passed and night time came. Lucian stepped out of his office and casually walked towards the kitchen to make himself a coffee. As he walked past the door, he heard a thud.
In a swift second, he caught Seraphina who just fainted before she could hit the ground. "Seraphina!!"
