"A...first name?" She squinted at him in confusion.
"Yes! Oh, I know your kind are funny about that kind of thing. Silly names...."
He smiled teasingly at her, but she couldn't tell exactly what he was trying to tease her about.
"Faerie Names have much more significance than simply something to call someone. They're your True Name! The one that defines you as you grow! It changes as you change!"
He hummed and waved a hand, then. "Of course, once you grow up, your name settles...but that's something I'll have to teach you about later. Now is the story of how me, Merwyn, was trapped in this tower by a mean woman. Not the story of my little seedling self!"
Merwyn stretched luxuriously and settled down in a comfortable chair made of feathers. One he just conjured up with a thought.
He crossed his arms over his chest comfortably and nodded. Then he closed his eyes and began telling the story of his imprisonment.
