The more time she spent on it, the more frustrated she became. She couldn't help but wonder if she was chasing shadows, or if there was really something sinister lurking in the background.
"Any luck?" Dashiell asked at the end of the day, a concerned look on his face.
"No," Trisha said, sighing. "I'm not sure if there's anything to find."
"You're doing great," Dashiell encouraged, seeing her frustration.
"Thanks, but I haven't found anything," she said, sighing.
"You'll get there."
Trisha appreciated his support, but she couldn't help but feel like she was wasting her time. She didn't want to disappoint him, but she wasn't sure how much longer she could keep searching without finding anything.
As she headed home, she was more determined than ever to find the answers she was looking for.
It wasn't long before Trisha received a text message from Dashiell, and the subject matter was serious.
