Trisha paused outside the office door, taking a deep breath before knocking lightly.
"Come in," Dashiell called, sounding a bit distracted.
When she stepped into the office, Dashiell glanced up and greeted her with a warm smile. "Hey, Trisha," he said. "Is everything alright?"
She nodded, her eyes sweeping across the room, noticing the open files and spreadsheets on his desk. "Everything's fine. I was just walking by and noticed your light was still on. Thought I'd drop in and say hi."
Dashiell sighed. "Just finishing up a few things," he said.
"Mind if I hang out for a bit?" she asked, her eyes lingering on his handsome face.
"Not at all," he replied, gesturing to the chair beside him. "Take a seat."
She took a seat and tried to think of something to say. She wanted to tell him how nice he looked tonight, but she didn't want to sound too forward. "So, um, how was your day?" she asked instead, hoping it was an innocuous enough question.
