As Trisha walked past Jazlyn's desk that afternoon, Jazlyn flashed her a triumphant smile. "How did your doctor's appointment go yesterday?" she asked casually.
Trisha's expression froze as confusion flashed across her face. "My... what?"
"Your doctor's appointment," Jazlyn repeated nonchalantly. "Didn't you have one yesterday?"
"Oh, right. Yeah, it was fine. Just a routine checkup."
"That's good," Jazlyn replied, her smile widening. Gotcha! I know you lied. That's good, Jazlyn mused with a grin. I knew I was right. I had a feeling something was up.
Trisha cleared her throat, seeming uneasy. "Anyway, I have a lot of work to do, so if you'll excuse me..."
"Of course. I'll leave you to it," Jazlyn said, her voice laced with false kindness.
