Suzanne Lockhart leaned back in her chair on the verandah, sipping her iced tea with a smirk. "Honestly, Kyra, I don't know why Trisha works herself to the bone. It's not like she's spending her money on anything worthwhile."
Kyra giggled, picking at her cake. "Tell me about it. She's such a workaholic. I mean, who needs to be that focused on a dumb project? She could be having more fun with her life—and her money."
"Exactly." Suzanne snorted, shaking her head. "But hey, as long as she keeps sending those checks our way, I'm not complaining. That new purse I bought? All thanks to her latest transfer."
"And the vacation I'm planning?" Kyra smirked, brushing crumbs off her fingers. "I'll just tell her I need it for 'school expenses' or something. She always falls for it."
"She's always been too generous for her own good. But why shouldn't we enjoy the perks? After all, she doesn't seem to care how much we take."
