Do you still think about the most memorable thing in your life? Is it memorable because you felt happiness? Or is it the other way around?
A few days ago…
"Wake up, fofo."
I slowly opened my eyes, but they felt heavy. Upon gazing into a beautiful scenery in front of me, I felt relieved and happy. Hearing such a lovely voice, my heart sank and is left with a tingling sensation.
"Sweet Morning, my angel.. or should I call you Mrs. Strauss?"
"That's a bit of a stretch, I don't remember you proposing to me though." She replied in a sarcastic tone.
My name is Henry Strauss, and I am now working as a Project Manager in one of the highest bid company in the City, Wemleton Corporation-Association. And this is my girl, Julie Cromwell.
"I don't believe that it has the need to put into words and neither did you, am I wrong?"
She just stared at me for a moment looking all…sad. My heart broke as my eyes are locked into hers, thinking that I said something obnoxious that made her feel unworthy.
"I may have used the wrong choice of words, please forgive me. " I said as I caressed her gently. However, she does not seem pleased.
"Will you go out on a date with me tomorrow?" I said to her and her eyes gratified in a whim.
"Hhhmm.." she nodded with a smile on her face.
D-Day…
Julie's POV
It is already nighttime and we've spent all day just doing everything that I could think of.
My name is Julienne but Henry knows me as Julie Cromwell, a businesswoman owning a humble coffee shop. We've been together for almost half a decade now and I really think that he is the one I've been searching for.
"Okay, so close your eyes. Don't open them until I tell you to do so." He said while covering my eyes with his shivering hands, slowly walking into a dark place dragging me with him.
"Can you at least tell me what this is all about?" I asked in curiosity.
It got me thinking, 'We've been together for a long time now, is he proposing? If he is, what should I do? Am I ready to accept it?'
"You can open your eyes now." He said whispering to my ears as I slowly opened my eyes.
Firework's suddenly whizzed upon the starry night sky, scattered across my vision. I was too stunned to speak and got dazzled at what I saw. For a moment there, I got excited… but scared at the same time.
"I.. uhh.. I've got to tell you something." Stumbling onto his words, he paused for a while. Well, it must be hard for him to find words into expressing himself, I thought to myself. This is it, he will be proposing.
"Let's end this."
I slowly turned around and startled, as I saw his droopy face leaned against the earth's atmosphere.
"…"
My mind went blank, never able to speak a word. I found myself dumbfounded and never got the chance to respond as he slowly walks away from me. I want to ask him, why? I want to shout at him, curse him. I want him to give me reasons at the very least before walking away from me. I want to hug him and hold him, tell him that I don't want him leaving me. That I want him to look back and never let me face his back, walking away, running away from me. But I got astonished at what I told him more than anything.
"Hhmm.." I mumbled without even realizing it, as I nodded. It never appeared to me that after all these years, it will end with only three words from one's mouth. But why would he even bother to bring me into this place if he were gonna end it in the first place? I really thought…
I really thought this will be the beginning, but it turns out this is the end of the beginning.
"How could you end it when it hasn't even started yet?" I murmured to myself, seeing him turning his back on me, walking away. My heart is beating so fast that it sounds like my heart is shouting for him to come back, but the sound of the fireworks is louder that he can't even hear it. And just like that, it became the most memorable thing in my life.
