Nineteen: Born enemies
Monalissa stepped out of Ezekiel's office, trying to fathom the reason for his outburst. She saw Kim coming in the direction of his office. When he reached the spot where she was standing, he gave a slight bow, almost an invisible one.
"Miss Walls, I will be taking you for interrogation".
"What interrogation?"
" Come with me", he said ignoring her question.
Kim brought her to a room which was also situated in the company. The room was quite big and was divided into two sides by a glass.
Kim brought her to the interrogation part of the room while the others watched from the other side. Monalissa observed her surroundings but she wasn't scared at all. This was something that she will be willing to do. She had to play humble. She had come to realize that glaring and cursing him in her mind wasn't going to help her in any way. If she really wanted to avenge her family, it was the d*ckhead that sent her here that she should target. Though she still hated the devil. She still hated him so much.
The interrogation went smoothly which surprised Kim. He had expected her to be a bit stubborn or to play dumb but she proved him wrong. She had tabled everything that she ever knew. However, he didn't believe her completely because she was an assassin. A dangerous one at that.
Kayla stood at the balcony of the living relishing the clean air that came with the night breeze. She was holding a glass of rich red wine which she sipped from time to time. The figure that was kneeling behind her had already grown numb at the knees for kneeling too long.
Kayla looked at the picture that was in her hand. The young girl in it could only be defined in one word, 'pretty'.
It was a picture taken when she was leaving the Alpha company. In anger she crumpled the picture in her hand and threw it in the floor.
"You say you know her well right?"
"Yes. She works at the factory with me".
" I need you to get her out of sight and out of mind, understand?"
" What do you mean by that miss?", the figure asked with a voice filled with tremor.
"What else could I mean? She's just a small fry that Zeke hates and wants to break. I might as well help him out", she said with a devilish smirk.
" I understand ".
That evening, Monalissa was brought to the Alpha gardens. Her room was situated at the top most part of the building. The place where no one would ever dream of going. A place that was cold and dirty. The attic.
When she entered the attic, which was her room, the smell of mould wafted through making her frown. She looked at the female servant that brought her up.
"This is where the boss wants you to stay".
She nodded and the female servant left. Monalissa scanned the room with her eyes. She had to put everywhere inorder before she would sleep here. She had finally seen the wrath of the devil. It was so volcanic that if she wasn't sharp, she would be melted by it. She finally saw just how much he hated her and...she was no different. She concluded that they were born enemies.
After she was done, she lay on the bed that was there, to catch her breath. She began making plans in her head. If she wanted to get information from anyone, she needed something that would make that person look her way. The target was a man and she was a woman. There would be something to do about it. However, when she thought of it, she realized that she knew no art of seduction. It wasn't her forte. Though she gone on similar missions, she didn't have to spend a whole night with the person. Moreover, at that time, she still had her martial arts. More reasons to hate that devil.
In the blink of an eye, the evening of the next day arrived. Kim with ten other bodyguards arrived at the Alpha gardens to pick up their boss and Miss Walls.
Ezekiel descended the stairs with that expressionless face that was only defined for him. He came down, his jet-black loafers hitting the marbled floor with a thud. His aux-blood tuxedo was quite eye-catching and he looked so mouth watering.
Monalissa also stepped out of the dressing room at the same time turning heads in her direction. She was cladded an aux-blood off-the-shouder v-neck evening gown. It was adorned spatially with silver pearls on the top. With every step she took towards the living room, the gown swayed from side to side. Her hair was styled in a high bun with some strands hanging loosely at her temples. She was alluring.
Even the cold-blooded devil was captivated by her allure. He cursed himself within for even thinking of her beauty. He wasn't a man that would fall for looks but seeing Monalissa this evening, he wondered if he was right about himself.
Monalissa arrived in front of Ezekiel under everyone's gaze. She looked at him in the eyes. Ezekiel was once again reminded of his childhood sweetheart, Lily.
"I wore something that would hide the whip marks".
This sentence brought Ezekiel back and he glared at her. Kim walked to his side.
"Boss, we should leave now".
"Yes we should", he said looking at Monalissa.
Monalissa didn't know how to react under that gaze. She bit down hard on her lips to hide her nervousness. This action of hers didn't escape the keen eyes of Ezekiel. He stuck his hand into his pocket, trying to calm himself down. Kim noticed his boss's abnormality and arched a brow. He stepped back.
Ezekiel walked down the last step and closed the gap between him and her. He leaned closer to her, their faces almost in a gum. Monalissa held her breath and tried stepping back. However, Ezekiel held her steady in place.
Monalissa blinked severally, her lashes fluttering and tickling his cheeks. This ignited a tingly sensation that coursed through his veins and arteries. He cursed Monalissa in his heart.
"Do you know?"
"What?" she asked trying to keep her breathing in check.
"Fifty million dollars. That was what was spent on you this evening".
Monalissa's eyes widened. She couldn't stop herself from gasping and when she did, her lips brushed against his.
"Sorry", she apologized which repeated the former incident.
Ezekiel couldn't help but pinch her waist. "Just stop moving will you? Just make sure my money doesn't go to waste. Make yourself useful". When he said the last part, he felt a sudden pang in his chest. Releasing her, he looked away to get his head straight. His eyes caught the bracelet that was on her wrist. It was dark brown beaded bracelet with a black butterfly bead dividing them into two sides. He arched a brow before walking out.
