Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Rewards of the Bloody Forest

As Orion stepped into the dense, foreboding expanse of the Bloody Forest, he called forth Auf with a sense of anticipation. The Alpha Mana Wolf, now at level 8, materialized beside him, ready and alert. Together, they ventured deeper into the dungeon, their steps quiet but purposeful amidst the tangled undergrowth.

The Bloody Forest, known for its relatively easier challenges for an awakener of Orion's caliber, still demanded vigilance. The common monsters of the area, Blood Rabbits and Blood Thorn Vines, lurked in the shadows. These creatures, while not particularly daunting to Orion, provided a good warm-up. Auf, with his enhanced abilities, dispatched them with ease, demonstrating his growth and prowess as a companion.

Orion, while focused on the mission at hand, did not overlook the Blood Roses scattered throughout the forest. These valuable resources were known for their medicinal properties and were a lucrative find. Carefully, he collected them, adding to his repository of items that could be traded or used later.

The presence of the Blood Elk, the dungeon's boss, became increasingly noticeable. Signs of its domain were marked by distinct hoof prints and a distinct, heavy scent. Orion and Auf, prepared for the encounter, ventured deeper into the elk's territory.

Their first confrontation with a Blood Elk was a testament to their combined strength. The elk, imposing and aggressive, charged with formidable force. However, Orion's agility and skillful combat tactics, complemented by Auf's ferocity, led to a swift victory. Much to Orion's dismay, the elk yielded only its pelt, not the coveted Blood Elk Stack needed for his quest.

Recognizing the need to re-enter the dungeon for a new instance, Orion and Auf exited the Bloody Forest. Each dungeon typically housed only one boss, and to find the elusive Blood Elk Stack, they would have to face the Blood Elk again under different circumstances.

Continuing their relentless pursuit, Orion and Auf re-entered the Bloody Forest with renewed determination. The dense canopy above them seemed to weigh heavily, a silent observer to their mission. As they moved through the forest, the familiar foes of Blood Rabbits and Blood Thorn Vines once again crossed their path. Auf, ever vigilant and powerful, engaged the creatures with a practiced ease, showcasing the seamless synergy between him and Orion.

Upon encountering the Blood Elk for the second time, the battle unfolded with heightened intensity. The elk, even more formidable than before, challenged Orion and Auf with its fierce charge and resilience. Despite the challenge, they emerged victorious, showcasing their superior tactics and teamwork. However, the outcome was the same – another Blood Elk Pelt, but no stack.

Undeterred, Orion and Auf ventured into the Bloody Forest for a third time. The mission, proving more challenging than anticipated, tested not only their physical prowess but also their patience and perseverance. The repetitive nature of their task did not dampen their spirits; instead, it fueled their resolve.

In their third encounter with the Blood Elk, the duo faced a beast seemingly aware of their previous victories. It fought with a desperate vigor, as if understanding the stakes of the battle. The intensity of the fight pushed Orion and Auf to adapt and improvise, their movements a dance of survival and aggression.

Finally, as the elk fell for the third time, Orion's hopes were fulfilled. Among the spoils lay the much-sought-after Blood Elk Stack. While Orion's luck was indeed high, he realized that the low drop rate of the stack made its acquisition a task of persistence and strength.

With the Blood Elk Stack secured, a sense of accomplishment washed over Orion. The quest, which initially seemed a mere task, had evolved into a test of endurance and patience.

Emerging from their final venture into the Bloody Forest, Orion and Auf had not only secured the elusive Blood Elk Stack but also amassed a considerable collection of other valuable resources. Their haul included 24 Blood Roses, known for their medicinal properties, 17 Blood Thorns with unique alchemical uses, and 24 pieces of Blood Rabbit Meat, useful for both sustenance and trade.

The repeated forays into the forest proved fruitful in terms of experience as well. Orion gained a total of 530 experience points, bringing him closer to his next level, while Auf, demonstrating his growing prowess, earned 220 experience points.

Completing his mission in the Bloody Forest, Orion made his way back to the city. His mind was already calculating the best use for the resources he had gathered. Among his loot were the Blood Elk Pelts, which, while not the primary goal of his quest, still held value. Additionally, the Blood Thorn, with their alchemical potential, were items he knew would fetch a decent price.

Upon reaching the city, Orion's first stop was the market. He decided to sell the Blood Thorn Vines and the Blood Elk Pelts. Orion also chose to part with the Goblin King's Amulet. After acquiring the powerful and versatile Amulet of the Great Keeper, the Goblin King's Amulet had become redundant. Its lesser power couldn't compare to the abilities provided by his new amulet. Their sale added a substantial sum to his finances, bringing in an impressive total of 3500 Credits. This financial boost was a welcome addition to his resources, aiding in his larger quests and goals.

However, Orion took a different approach with the Blood Roses. Recognizing their value beyond mere trading, he decided to exchange them for Guild Points at the Adventurers Guild. Each Blood Rose earned him 10 points, a significant contribution towards enhancing his standing within the Guild. This strategic decision underscored his understanding of the importance of reputation and influence within the awakener community.

As for the Blood Rabbit Meat, Orion knew it would serve a different purpose. He kept it as food for Auf, ensuring his faithful companion was well-fed and ready for their next adventure. This act of care highlighted the bond between Orion and Auf, a partnership that had grown stronger with each challenge they faced together.

With the Blood Elk Stack and Blood Roses securely packed, Orion headed towards the Adventurers Guild. His mission was clear: to hand in these items as proof of his successful venture and to continue building his reputation within the guild. The journey to the guild, a familiar path, symbolized his growing involvement in the wider community of awakeners.
