Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Joining the Keepers Of Void

As the morning light bathed the city in a warm glow, Orion made his way to the headquarters of the Keepers Of Void clan. The building stood imposingly, a modern structure that blended sharp angles with sleek glass surfaces. Its design was a statement of power and progressiveness, reflecting the clan's ambition. Orion paused for a moment outside, taking in the sight before stepping through the doors.

The lobby was bustling with clan members, each moving with purpose. Approaching the reception, Orion was greeted by a young woman with a welcoming smile. "How can I assist you today?" she asked.

"I'm here to inquire about joining the Keepers Of Void," Orion responded confidently.

The receptionist's eyes brightened. "Oh, wonderful! You'll want to speak with Marcus, our recruitment officer. Let me guide you to him."

She led Orion through a series of corridors, arriving at a modest office where a man sat behind a desk. Marcus, a middle-aged man with keen eyes, stood to greet him.

"Welcome to the Keepers Of Void. I'm Marcus. What brings you to us?" Marcus inquired, his tone friendly yet inquisitive.

Orion, standing confidently before Marcus, began to outline his capabilities as an awakener. "I've recently reached level 10, focusing primarily on agility," he explained. "My build allows for swift and precise combat, enhanced further by my Spectral Strike skill, which is particularly effective against a wide range of spectral enemies."

Orion continued, "Additionally, I've acquired the Basic Inspection skill"

Marcus raised his eyebrows, impressed. "That's quite a valuable skill to have. It's not often that we see awakeners with such rare skills."

"There's more," Orion added. "I also have a companion, Auf, a level 8 Alpha Mana Wolf. He's been instrumental in many of my successful dungeon ventures."

Marcus leaned back in his chair, visibly intrigued. "It seems you bring a diverse set of skills and strengths. We value such versatility here at the Keepers Of Void."

Orion felt a surge of hope. His unique skill set and experiences seemed to resonate with what the clan was looking for.

"We do have a standard evaluation process for all potential members," Marcus said, bringing out a tablet. "Are you prepared to undergo a simulation test to assess your abilities in a controlled environment?"

Orion nodded eagerly. "Absolutely. I'm ready to demonstrate what I can bring to the Keepers Of Void."

In the simulation room, a virtual environment mimicking a dense forest materialized around Orion. The surroundings were a mix of shadowy undergrowth and towering trees, an ideal setting to test his agility and combat skills.

Moving with practiced ease, Orion navigated the virtual landscape. His movements were a blur of speed and precision, showcasing the agility that was the cornerstone of his build. The initial challenge came in the form of virtual adversaries, mirroring the types of enemies he had encountered in real dungeons. He engaged them with swift, decisive strikes from his crystal daggers, demonstrating his combat skills and mastery over his chosen weapons.

Marcus, observing from a control panel, was visibly impressed. He watched as Orion effortlessly dispatched his virtual foes, his movements harmonious and fluid. "Impressive agility and combat technique," Marcus noted, his eyes tracking every move Orion made.

The simulation's difficulty escalated, introducing scenarios where Orion had to face multiple enemies simultaneously. This required quick thinking and adaptability. Orion used the virtual terrain to his advantage, leaping from higher ground for aerial attacks and swiftly dodging incoming strikes. His coordination with Auf, the Alpha Mana Wolf, was seamless and instinctive. Auf, though virtual, responded to Orion's commands perfectly, displaying their strong bond and teamwork.

As the session progressed, a final challenge emerged: a simulated version of a formidable dungeon boss. The virtual boss, akin to the Blood Elk, but higher level, presented a significant test of Orion's strategic approach to combat. In response, Orion maneuvered around the virtual Elk, exploiting its vulnerabilities with precision strikes, while Auf provided timely distractions, allowing Orion to find openings for critical attacks.

The virtual boss battle was intense and demanding, pushing Orion to demonstrate the full extent of his combat abilities and strategic thinking. His swift movements and tactical positioning gradually wore down the virtual Elk. In the end, it was a combination of agility, strategy, and flawless coordination with Auf that led to his victory in the simulation.

As the simulation faded away, Orion, feeling challenged yet accomplished, looked over at Marcus. He was expecting some feedback, but what he saw was a look of sheer astonishment on Marcus's face.

"That... was a D-rank dungeon simulation," Marcus said, his tone mixed with shock and admiration. "Every monster in there was above level 10, and the boss was level 15. And you just soloed it. I have to admit, I didn't expect that. We usually use this as a bit of a prank on new recruits — giving them a challenge well above their level to see how they cope. Most struggle and fail, but you... you just aced it."

Orion raised an eyebrow, amused by the revelation. It had indeed been a challenge, but one he had met head-on, demonstrating his capability to handle situations far beyond what was expected for his level.

Marcus, still visibly impressed, posed a question. "With skills and abilities like that, you could easily find a place in any top-tier clan. Why choose to join a new clan like ours?"

Orion paused for a moment, considering his response. "I want to grow with a clan, not just be another 'elite' in a well-established one. I believe in the potential of the Keepers Of Void and feel that I can make a real difference here. Growing together, facing challenges, and contributing to the clan's rise — that's what I'm looking for."

Marcus nodded, understanding Orion's perspective. "That's a commendable approach, Orion. We need more people with your mindset and capabilities. You'll be an invaluable asset to the Keepers Of Void."

As they concluded their discussion, Marcus stood up, a decisive look on his face. "Well, Orion, it's time to make it official. Let's get you registered as a member of the Keepers Of Void Clan."

Orion followed Marcus to the administrative section of the clan's headquarters. There, in a well-organized office buzzing with activity, he filled out the necessary paperwork and completed the registration process. Each step was a confirmation of his new path, a commitment to his chosen clan.

With all formalities handled, Marcus extended his hand, a smile playing on his lips. "Welcome to the Keepers Of Void, Orion. We're excited to have you on board and look forward to seeing the impact you'll make."
