"Okay, Kol, why don't you explain everything, and then I'll decide if I want to go through with this," Caroline said nervously.Kol smiled, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "You don't have to worry, darling. I stand by what I say. Always. I'm not like my brothers; no need for any deals or tricks. I'm doing this because I feel like it. That's all. And since you asked, I'll explain how the supernatural world works. In return, you'll tell me about your experience with it. You can leave out details if you like, but I want the gist of it. The vampires nowadays seem to have forgotten the rules I set down long ago. So, are you up for it, or should we jump straight to the procedure?"Caroline, always a control freak, saw this as an opportunity. Here she was, face to face with a thousand-year-old vampire with a wealth of knowledge. She thought, *How lucky could I get?* "Okay, Kol."Rebekah grinned, "You're very lucky, Caroline. No one alive knows as much about magic as my brother. Even I'm excited—he hasn't been this eager to talk about magic in centuries."Kol waved her off. "Ah, Bekah, since you brought it up, I'll start with what our mother did and the nature of magic. You see, magic exists in many forms—nature, dark, healing, curses, and more. But one of the most important types is personal magic. For lack of a better term, it's the 'breath of the world.' Every being is blessed with magic. But if that's true, why doesn't everyone have access to it?"Kol leaned back, enjoying the way Caroline's curiosity piqued. "In the beginning, people used blood magic, blood rituals, and sacrifices to tap into power for themselves and their families. As a result, many distanced themselves from these practices. When they stopped using magic, the world responded. It altered their connection to it. But, more on that in a bit."He continued, "Personal magic is connected to the mind, body, and soul. Three is a powerful number in magic, always has been. I used to call them mystic channels. They're present throughout every being—""You mean metaphysical channels," Caroline interrupted, her genuine interest shining through.Kol smirked. "Ah yes, metaphysical channels. As I said, magic is linked to the mind, body, and soul. The soul generates magic and keeps producing it, always pure. Think of the soul as a canvas, the mind as the paint, and the body as the brush. What you paint is what you get. But all souls reincarnate. And during that process, magic resets. This means there's a finite amount of magic an individual can wield in any given lifetime."Caroline's eyes widened as she considered the implications. "Does that mean anyone can practice magic?"Kol chuckled softly. "In theory, yes. But that's where the world's balance comes in. Those content with their lives, who abandoned magic, had their channels altered. Their personal channels—the ones not connected to the soul—are now on a different frequency. To practice magic, they'd have to find the right frequency. This isn't something current science can explain, though Nikola Tesla came close. He was a man I respected. He believed if you want to understand the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."Caroline and Rebekah listened intently as Kol went on. "These metaphysical channels are like rivers flowing into the ocean. They can only draw a certain amount of power until they're strengthened. That's why magic is usually taught to the young, when they can still perceive it. But some covens practice a foolish tradition of locking a child's magic, preventing them from accessing it until they break the seal."Rebekah jumped in. "I know this one, brother. It's idiotic because by the time the child's magic breaks free, it's so strong they can't control it. They've grown too powerful too quickly.""Exactly," Kol nodded. "Magic, at its core, is about control. Unchecked magic can destroy a witch from the inside out. That's why teaching it properly is so important. When magic is locked away, the body, mind, and soul can't grow accustomed to it. It's like giving a newborn a sword before they can even walk."Caroline looked at Kol with newfound respect. This wasn't the reckless, impulsive vampire she'd heard about. There was depth here, knowledge she never expected. "So," she said slowly, "what's next?"Kol grinned. "Now, darling, we dive deeper into what it means to wield magic. You've learned the theory. The next step is practice. But remember, magic is subtle. Use it wisely, or it'll use you."I'll post the remaining 26 chapters in the morning have a good night I am always available for conversations about the storyIf you like the story please do support me on Patpatreon.com/LUCIFER482
