chapter 8 Meister of Conviction

Leaving the room, Kreed released the runes in front of him. The only items that remained were the two ebony coloured chains that wrapped around his left hand. A rusty brass key was dangling from his right hand.

Soon Kreed made his way through a dark ruined corridor.

Kreed had cleaned and remade an entire unit of the dorm, the first room in which he had placed a bed, desk and chair; onced belonged to his father. On this floor of the dorm there were over 20 rooms, 10 housing units including Kreed's now claimed room. There was a massive, council hall, 4 private quarter's that was probably used as a meeting place for teachers and researchers. There was a large cafeteria and two pantries. However directly down the hall from Kreed's father's room was two doors. One was a security room in which people would monitor the children on different floors.

The other door lead to a storage room.

Kreed reached the door and pushed it open. He didn't use the rusty brass key to open it, Soo mystery still settled around it.

Heading inside, Kreed was surrounded by rows of cupboards, the first few lay barren with empty boxes littering them.

Kreed walked to the back of the room and opened an already torn box. In it were several packages. Kreed reached into the box removing a package.

On it was marked two simple phrases,

Exp.7.0...9y

Chosu flavored

This simple package was a simple delicacy called "Erations".

Kreed had already eaten all the food from the cafeterias pantry, and Soo all he had now was this nutrient based package food. Of course it had long expired, but as far as Kreed could tell it tasted the same.

Kreed was also tired of eating the same thing every day so he tried planting simple crops. However with the poisonous curse rampant throughout the island, all his efforts proved futile.

Opening the package Kreed exited the room and headed for the kitchen. Soon he entered the open hall of the cafeteria, it was dark and glommy the little moon light that peirced the thick mist of poison, reflected of, off the glass panes separating the cafeteria from the outside. Soon Kreed found a simple button on the wall. Pressing it the hall was illuminated with a white hued radiance.

As Kreed walked through the onces bloodied hall, he couldn't help but remember the bodies of both children and adults that he had to remove. The hall was now empty with blood stains spanning the entire room.

Soon he entered the kitchen.

Opening a draw, Kreed pulled out a single orange crystal. It was the shade of a pumpkin, and it glistened as Kreed moved it through the air.

Kreed had remodeled the kitchen entirely. Before there were stoves with burners, a grill and kettle.

But now there was only the kettle left.

The stoves were covered with a marble flat stone that served as a counter, and the open grill was made into a fire place.

Kreed placed the orange crystal into the grill, forming coals around it. Turning around Kreed searched the top draw and found a simple flint and steel.

With it's help Kreed ignited the orange crystal which was ablaze a second later. Placing a metal fence obove the fire which was meant to serve as a grate Kreed then placed the kettle unto the fence.

Soon the water in the kettle was brought to a boil and Kreed poured some into the package he had retrieved.

Soon stared at the amazing spectacle that he found oddly satisfying. The contents of the packet would break down becoming soft as the hot water mixed with it.

Emptying the remaining contents of the kettle into a ceramic cup, Kreed flinched at it's scent.

The water he used was in no way clean, no far from it. But because of Kreeds weird resistance to the poison he found it at least useable.

Soon Kreed placed a bag filled with dry tea leaves into the cup.

After sweeting the tea with honey and ensuring

That the contents of the package had softened, Kreed outed the fire with a bit of water and headed for an empty table in the center of the cafeteria. Well all the tables were empty but Kreed liked the middle table for what reason? He did not know.

Soon Kreed placed a spoonful of the package food in his mouth.

The taste was pleasant and relieving, it tasted starchy and bland, but it was filling to the gut.

After a week of not, eating anything Kreed was beyond hungry. But he knew that there would be a chance of death if he devoured the food to fast, after all he had been in many similar situations before.

So Kreed took his time savouring the Erations and sipping his tea.

After filling his stomach, Kreed sat still for a while allowing the food to settle. Then on a full stomach Kreed summoned his status runes once more.

They read.

'What? What the hell? That's it? F**king hell.

All I got as a power is added, clearance? I mean it sounds incredible but, it's name is literally it's description.'

Well this was a first, it had been quite a while since Kreed had been angry. Rather it had been a while since he showed any form of emotions.

But now for some reason he was pissed.

Well, that was a relief at least he knew that he could still feel. Well, perhaps there was a chance for him to experience other emotions Aswell love even.

As Kreed read the runes once more, his anger built even more.

Now he was even more pissed. His power was added clearance yet it didn't clear his raging mind.

'what a shit, power.'

Angrily Kreed dismissed the runes and thought about his achievements.

Firstly he had been birthed, which meant he had, took the first step to Ascension.

Now he had 6 steps left.

Evolved

Enlightened

Ascended

Unchained

Conquered

Valiant

From what he knew people could take the second step by either accepting a challenge and beating it or traveling to Ester a planet orbiting Vega alongside Sihe-Rimaz.

Either by using a continental warp or via dreams.

Since this planet was created as a farm to generate life force by the gods, it didn't possess any life on it.

Instead there was creatures called wraiths made to be overcomed and defeated to channel and charge the planet with life force.

All 13 of the greatest heros had either trained or been to Ester at some point in their life.

Since the second step to Ascension was evolved, Ester was the best and easiest option.

Firstly the gravity was completely different essentially forcing those who traveled to it to adapt or evolve to the changes.

The same couldn't be said about his form doh.

Many people knew how to ascend but increasing in form wasn't as researched as the latter.

In fact, changing form seemed to change with evey person.

And since Kreed had 0/100 form fragments he wasn't worried about whether he would find the path to leveling up or not.

All Kreed had to do now was somehow escape the island.

He would need to blend in with the people he would meet.

Although Kreed wasn't to confident in his communication skills, he was more worried about his lack of knowledge.

It had been 10 years since he had last heard about anything happening in his world.

All he could go of was the information he had scavenged from all across the island.

Yet Kreed wasn't worried. Based on the map which he found, the island he was located on sat a couple hundred kilometers away from the nearest land mass. To its north was the continent of Oben And to it's south the continent of Xeats from what Kreed knew both was fairly nice places.

They were runned by creatures of different races but none seemed to possess any hatred towards humanity.

Further more these creatures had absolute authority over the island, meaning that the chances of a demon or ferocious entity attacking was close to zero.

The only logical problem Kreed had was, how he would travel from one place to the next.

The island he was on had a couple of boats, and Kreed had studied all there manuals before. So he was sure he could at least start one. The problem was that all the boats were damaged when the gigantic abomination fell.

The navigation system was a total mess as well.

Oh well he would have to come up with an idea one way or another.

For now he had some relics to test out.
