Chapter 12 Embarkment
Laying in the rumpled sheets of a wooden bed was a pale boy with messy black hair. His skin which was once covered in bruises and blisters was now whole and unrendered. He looked almost comical, his room was clouded with a dark unnerving fog of shadows. Yet he laid un-bothered. His face, calm, and free of stress.
This once broken child, was now only stained with marks of dust and debris that he had collected over the previous days.
He hadn't taken an adequate bath in a while, why? Because he was waiting for this very moment.
He was waiting for his chance to escape.
Soon Kreed could be heard yawning throughout his entire room.
He had finally awakened.
"Good morning, the big day's finally here" Kreed announced with a bright smile plastered across his face.
"I wonder how long I've been out. "
Kreed felt refreshed and elated. His mind was rested and calm, his spirit joyful and at peace.
His sore muscles had recovered and healed.
Now he was completely ready and excited about the new day.
Of course he was as hungry as ever but today he found the pain of starvation a bit more bearable.
Sitting up on his bed, Kreed announced while stretching.
"I have a long day ahead of me, there's no time to waste then."
After a while an ebony coloured chain manifested itself in his hand.
Not wasting a second he activated its ability.
Then the dark room around him became quiet once more.
Not a second later Kreed was standing in the small research room surrounded by empty tables and boxes. In front of him on a wooden stool sat the other ebony coloured chain.
Kreed had removed all the trinkets from the tables around him, packing them into bags and boxes. There were also a couple boxes filled with erations.
He had been preparing for this very moment for an entire month after all. Now all that was left to do was embark on his journey to freedom.
Well he also had to move his items to the Grape as well. So following his intuition he got moving right away.
Grabbing ahold of two bags he placed them on his shoulders and picked up two more.
'shit'
After taking two steps towards the exit he scowled. He may have been birthed and possess incredible relics now. But he was still as weak as any normal human.
No he was way worse, he didn't have the food to give him energy, plus his muscles although they were healed, were totally spent after constantly working them for a month.
'Damn it, one last struggle I suppose.'
Kreed tensed his muscles and made his way through the exit, soon he was walking on the path leading down to the Pier. From where he stood he could see the Grape clearly.
It swayed magnificently in the calm dark waters that surrounded it.
It had changed completely, before it looked battered just like the other vessels but now it stood out nicely.
The surrounding ships couldn't compare to the Grape even slightly, as many of them had become targets for the sphere of boundless.
Looking proudly at his work, Kreed began walking towards it once more.
After reaching the grape, he placed the 4 bags that he was carrying into it and summoned the chain of territory once more.
Without wasting a second he teleported back to the room in which he had packed all of his stuff.
And soon he was walking towards the grape once more carrying two more bags on his shoulders and a large wooden box in his hand.
After making two more trips, Kreed teleported to the room once more.
He was finally ready to leave, he had finished carrying his belongings and now only had one simple task left.
Exiting the room once again Kreed took the usual path. This time however he didn't head down the island towards the Pier no, instead he headed left following the path into the center of the island.
There standing in front of him was the grand, and incredible cathedral.
He hadn't returned here after his faithful encounter with the father of all, no instead he was waiting for this very moment to enter it once more.
Passing through the broken doors, Kreed was blasted with a wave of memories, they flowed like a raging storm within his mind.
The immense nostalgia pounded at his mind intensely. Every emotion that he had experienced he had returned. Becoming fresh in his mind.
Soon Kreed found himself sitting in the same spot where, he had been assaulted by Asterion. The same spot where he had met the divine being who had acknowledged Him.
In front of him sat the stone runes.
They were now broken and frayed in many places. The most interesting change however was the fact that all the words Inscribed on the runes had been erased.
Now all that reminded me of strange marks like the scratches made by some powerful creature.
"Thank you...thank you. I will not disappoint you, I promise." Kreed's voice echoed throughout the cathedral hall, it sounded ghoulish but full of confidence.
Although his body had been healed completely, it seemed that his scrappy voice had remained the same. Continuing to speak he announced.
"However, I also promise to overcome you as well. I don't know how long it will take or how much I will need to accomplish to meet you again. But you have my word."
With that Kreed activated the chain of territory and teleported to the research room once again.
The cathedral hall was left quiet and empty just as before.
However in its darkness sitting on the broken runes was a little child. The child's eyes were vast and profound. His subtle features resembled that of an infant yet its presence seemed to hold nothing but a great void.
Kreed had not seen the child, but even he knew that there had been something watching him.
Leaning its small head to one side the child chuckled, "why do all my children wish to overthrow me? It is such an ambitious yet futile wish, even for you, Meister of Conviction."
And with that the child faded into the darkness.
****
Kreed found himself standing in the center of the Grape.
He had started the motors, untied the lasso holding it adjacent with the Pier and adjusted the bow to head for an opening.
Now all that was left to do was engage the controls, and travel towards his destination.
Following this thought Kreed grabbed onto the wheel and engaged his throttle.
Immediately the grape, jetted up in a fit of horror as the thick dark water tried resisting.
But soon Kreed was steadily moving through the water.
The grape was slowly building momentum and the distance between it and the island grew tremendously with each passing second.
And before Kreed could tell, he was incapable of distinguishing between the buildings on the island.
Perhaps he had made the grape a bit too fast? No if he wanted to reach the mainland as fast as possible then he would need as much speed as possible.
Looking back Kreed could only see the outline of the island, of course the thick darkness surrounding him, didn't help at all but the main features like the tall peak, on the island, the massive crater made by a clash between Dallas and an unknown force or being And the great rocky clif side with the large cave could still be seen.
But the others grew distant and blurry.
Focusing on the waters around him Kreed couldn't help but feel chills. He was finally going to escape. Yet he couldn't see the end of the poisonous fog. Just how powerful was Dallas? If even after its death it could still haunt an entire island with a deadly curse for 10 long years.
And Kreed possessed such an abominations relic.
Had he been rewarded with such incredible luck, to compensate for his life of torment?
'how peculiar'
Looking back at the island Kreed could only see its basic outline. It looked flat and insignificant.
'haha, guess I am moving on to bigger things.'
The grape shredded through the dark water its motor pushing at an incredible speed.
Kreed had not been able to repair the speed meter, so instead he had to guess the speed at which the grape was traveling.
It was full speed. Based on his calculations it would take the grape 3-5 hours at its top speed to Arrive at the nearest continent. Kreed had decided to head north to Oben as it was larger than Xeats and was in a straight direction from the Pier on his island.
He concluded that these odds were much better than having to circle the island just to head to a less developed and smaller continent.
Of course Kreed knew that he couldn't engage the grape at full throttle for the entire journey.
But he wanted to create as much distance between him and the island, even escape the dark poisonous fog if possible.
However no matter how far he traveled he couldn't notice any change in the fog.
Looking back once again Kreed shivered, all that was left of the island now was a simple speck among the many dusty particles that made up the poisonous fog.
'... Goodbye.'
He had done it, finally after 10 years. He had escaped the island. It had only been like 10 minutes since he Left the island yet it was now completely out of his sight.
Raising an arm to cover his face, Kreed braced the battering winds with a joyous smile on his face.
The grape flew through the fog and water alike in a fast and violent stream.
And ten minutes later Kreed could finally see the mist's end.
It didn't look like a wall of overpowering dark fog, no instead it seemed to fade out into the air it's thickness grows thinner and thinner with each meter.
And just beyond it, Kreed could see a slight glimmer of light.
Approaching it Kreed's heart was filled with
Many emotions, finally he would see the sun's light once again.
Drawing closer to its end Kreed summoned the peach of existence and basked as its uncanny ability refreshed his mind, body and soul.
He wanted to relish the ultimate feeling of satisfaction that he was about to receive.
And relish it he did. Escaping the dark mist of poison Kreed was blasted with the beautiful rays of a rising sun. Far on the horizon the bright star Vega blessed the water with its beautiful reflection.
The water was tinted with a bright orange color and its calmness accentuated its lustful image.
Kreed was dumbfounded, he had seen the sun while resting on the gigantic tree alongside the father of all. But the one before him seemed to outdo any and all images of said sun.
It had been created by RA after all.
Enjoying the spectacle before him, Kreed released the throttle and slowed down the Grape.
He was still moving at a steady pace but, his focus had been drawn to a more grand occurrence.
The beautiful dawn, seemed to drown and oppose the dark and gloomy cloud of mist behind him.
Looking back Kreed could finally see where the mist had ended.
It was wide and extreme, as doh it held an entirely different world within it.
Kreed couldn't see the top of the mist, as it seemed to extend into the clouds.
And he couldn't see the end of it, as it extended both to his right and left like an unending sea of fog.
Well at least he didn't encounter any powerful creature that had survived Dallas's poison within the water.
Or perhaps he had out run it, well it didn't matter for now all that he needed to do was continue on his journey to the mainland.
