Chapter 37 - 37

The two of them continued searching persistently and finally found a wandering D-level ferocious beast. They joined forces to defeat it, surprised to discover their excellent cooperation. They immediately decided to continue searching further. The carcass of this ferocious beast was assigned to Red Dress, as the protagonist felt like he was just tagging along, and due to his special circumstances, he didn't need it. So, he gave it to Red Dress, who didn't refuse and stored the carcass in her spatial backpack. The protagonist then considered using this technique to let the system decompose and strengthen him.

Chu Tian led Red Dress and finally found the location of the Thunder Pattern Snow Fox. Here, there was a grassy area beneath a cliff, with a small water source not far away. Looking around, they saw an adult Thunder Pattern Snow Fox crouching in a nest below the cliff, wrapped in four cubs that hadn't yet opened their eyes.

Chu Tian had only seen Thunder Pattern Snow Foxes in books, but seeing a real one, he realized how beautiful they were. They were about a meter in length, with pure white fur without a trace of impurities, and a red lightning pattern on their foreheads.

The innate talent of this Thunder Pattern Snow Fox was Thunderstrike, a D-level talent that would likely reach C-level when it matured.

[Detected talent, do you want to replicate it?]

[Thunder Pattern Snow Fox]

[Gender: Female]

[Species: Beast]

[Level: C-level]

[Talent: Thunderstrike]

Replicate!

Without hesitation, Chu Tian chose to replicate this talent in his mind. After all, it was a powerful combat talent. After replication, Chu Tian's talent skills included Thunderstrike.

Just then, a dangerous aura suddenly enveloped Chu Tian's heart. He released his mental perception, and everything within a radius of 150 meters became clear to him. At that moment, a burly figure appeared in Chu Tian's mental perception.

It was a giant chimpanzee with metallic gray fur all over its body, at least three meters tall. This massive chimpanzee, exuding an imposing presence, was charging toward the nest of the Thunder Pattern Snow Foxes.

It was a Xuantie Giant Ape, one of the top-tier ferocious beasts among C-level ferocious beasts, and this particular one had advanced to B-level.

[Detected talent, do you want to replicate]

[Xuantie Giant Ape]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: B-level]

[Species: Beast]

[Talents: Iron Body, Shockwave]

Without hesitation, Chu Tian chose to replicate both of these talents. The moment he replicated Iron Body, he felt a change in his body.

The skin seems to be controllable with his thoughts, allowing him to change his skin into something comparable to titanium alloy. As for Shockwave, it's a type of spiritual shock that directly controls the ground, creating earthquakes.

Chu Tian really liked these two abilities, especially the second one, Shockwave. It could trap enemies in a pitfall when they least expected it.

However, Chu Tian suddenly noticed two adult Thunder Pattern Snow Foxes, their bodies covered in lightning, growling menacingly at the Xuantie Giant Ape. They were protecting their cubs, which were already full and sleeping behind them.

Red Dress asked with concern, "Should we help? Wouldn't it be too cruel if the parents of these Snow Foxes were killed?"

Chu Tian replied, "Survival of the fittest, whether it's beasts or humans, even in the Federation era, this rule still applies, just less obvious."

Hearing Chu Tian's words, Red Dress thought carefully. Although the Federation was united in its fight against the invading and devouring ferocious beasts, the law of the jungle still applied occasionally.

Powerful mercenary groups would often strip resources or supplies from weaker ones, or even materials from the deceased. Strong talented warriors might prey on those with weaker talents, although such people were rare.

Even those with talents might harm ordinary people, and while the Federation would mobilize talent warriors to apprehend such lawbreakers, the punishment seemed relatively mild, usually involving military service.

At that moment, the Xuantie Giant Ape raised its hands and slammed them into the ground, causing a powerful shockwave. Even Chu Tian and Red Dress, hiding in the trees, were nearly shaken down. This level of shockwave was at least equivalent to a level five earthquake.

Startled, the Thunder Pattern Snow Foxes launched an attack. Two of them leaped into the air, their bodies covered in electric sparks, and pounced on the Xuantie Giant Ape, which was preparing for a second strike.

Unable to watch any longer, Red Dress exclaimed, "I can't just stand by; I'm going to help the Snow Foxes."

Impulsive, she jumped down from the tree where she was hiding. Holding her palms together, she condensed a red flame in her hands. Then, a massive fireball shot towards the Xuantie Giant Ape.

However, the Xuantie Giant Ape quickly dodged Red Dress's attack. Instead, it seized both Thunder Pattern Snow Foxes by their necks in the midst of the blazing lightning. Although the intense electrical power made its metallic fur sizzle, its entire body burst into flames due to the electric shock.

Undeterred, the Xuantie Giant Ape roared, opening its massive mouth and biting off the heads of the two Thunder Pattern Snow Foxes, their bodies still emitting sparks. With both foxes decapitated, their electrical aura gradually faded away, eventually becoming the ape's meal.

Chu Tian watched it all unfold and realized he couldn't defeat such a formidable creature, even with his ability to challenge higher-tier opponents. Thus, he chose not to engage.

Suddenly, he noticed Red Dress taking out something resembling a pistol from her spatial bag. It had an unusual design but a strong futuristic feel.

Before Chu Tian could question her, Red Dress retrieved a thumb-sized, blue-glowing stone from her bag, which exuded a rich spiritual aura. She placed the stone into a groove at the back of the pistol.

Raising the pistol, she aimed at the Xuantie Giant Ape, which was still consuming the Thunder Pattern Snow Foxes.

Pulling the trigger, a black-red beam of light shot out from the gun's muzzle. Chu Tian sensed its power, which reached at least B+ level.

Before he could react, the black-red beam pierced the Xuantie Giant Ape's heart. The ape's blood gushed out from the pierced heart, and it let out a despairing roar before collapsing, twitching a few times and then lying motionless.

[Detected decomposable materials, do you want to decompose?]

Chu Tian chose not to decompose the corpse. Since Red Dress had killed the Xuantie Giant Ape, he had no intention of taking anything from it. He silently watched as Red Dress used a dagger to process the giant ape's body.
