(Rylan Ashencroft POV)
As I opened the door to my room, the sight of a luxurious room appeared.
It wasn't as fancy as the room I first had, but it had a balcony. As I opened the doors to the balcony, I realized it had already become night.
It had a high viewpoint, but not as tall as the first kingdom.
Yet, it was still tall enough for me to see over the kingdom. There were a few street lights on, and soldiers were still patrolling and working.
Every few moments, I would see a Flaming Star member carry a dead body.
The faint smell of soil appeared, and I sighed.
"What kind of world is this?"
Why did this world have to be so dangerous?
Couldn't the author of 'Ressurection of the Demon God' make a normal, happy world?
Why did it have to be filled with monsters?
Well, there is nothing I could do in this situation other than accept it.
The clouds covered the moon, and I started to think of my current situation.
What I need to do is find a way to survive.
But I am still very weak compared to the real Rylan Ashencroft.
I need to find a better way to efficiently use my powers. because, with the way I am now, only more people are going to die.
I remember that the book by Oliver Olacan mentioned magic. I didn't try to understand it because of Rylan's unique physique, but I have realized that maybe I do need it.
So I need to research more about magic and potentially also use the same formulas as real mages.
At the same time, I also need to learn how to use martial arts or a similar technique.
Because right now I am just using Rylan's extreme physique to kill the monsters. That is not an efficient way to fight.
So learning a martial arts technique will boost my efficiency in killing monsters.
There was also a problem with the monsters. I didn't understand a single thing about them.
Some looked human-like; others looked like traditional monsters. And others were just bigger versions of normal animals.
The example being the lion and the eagles that the knights flew on.
Therefore, knowledge about the monsters is important since I can learn more about their weaknesses to better kill them.
Since Rylan was too strong, maybe there wouldn't be a need for it. But it is a good thing to learn either way.
I sighed.
"There are a lot of things that I don't know."
There was also a problem with housing and money. I don't have a single clue about where I live or what kind of money this world uses.
Because Rylan was this strong, he probably also had a lot of money. But where would that money be kept?
Does this world have a bank of some sort?
Well, does it even matter? With the way it's going now, it seems like everyone is paying for me.
But if I stopped fighting monsters, that treatment would probably disappear, and I would have to find a way to earn money.
I also have no idea about the laws of this world or empire. Killing a human is definitely wrong, so that should be illegal.
But what about other laws?
Since I wasn't born here or didn't have any of Rylan's memories, I also have no idea about the normal laws.
At least I have strength, and I know the language. So if this world uses the rule that strength is everything, then I would be good.
Knock.
Someone knocked on the door, but I could only think of one thing.
'Who would come at this time?'
As I went and opened the door, the sight of a huge figure appeared.
He was smiling and had an eye patch covering his eye. It was the general that I met the first night I possessed Rylan Ashencroft.
"Do you want some company?" He said this as he pointed to a bottle in his hands.
'Did he come here to drink?'
Well, I really wanted to drink, so it was a perfect time.
"Come in."
As he entered the room, he took out a pack of cigarettes.
"Is it fine if I smoke?"
He probably asked because we were inside.
"Let's go to the balcony."
As we went to the balcony, he turned on his cigarette and gave the bottle to me.
'So he doesn't drink?'
I took the bottle and opened it.
'That's just better for me.' I thought as I drank the liquid.
It had a bitter taste, but I could feel the taste of alcohol.
It wasn't that strong of an alcohol.
"I heard about what happened today." He spoke out of nowhere as we looked at the cityscape.
"Why did you remove the barrier?" He asked.
Strangely enough, I wasn't that shocked when he asked.
"Because I am pathetic." I took another sip of the bottle.
"I see"
We stood there in silence until he asked a question.
"What are you going to do now?"
I shook my head.
"I don't know. All I know is that this annoying feeling won't go away."
He nodded his head.
"We all get that feeling sometimes; the important thing is to push through it."
I asked him a question.
"If I stopped fighting monsters, how would everyone react?"
I don't know why I asked that; maybe it was because of the guilt that I felt.
He took a puff of his cigarette.
"Well, nobody could force you to fight monsters if you wanted to stop."
I looked at a carriage far away, and as I focused on it, I saw a shoe on top of it.
"I see."
I possessed the body of the strongest person, yet I was powerless as people died around me.
I didn't do my job as Rylan Ashencroft, an SSS ranker. I clenched my fist.
'But I didn't ask for this.'
I never wanted to transmigrate to Rylan Ashencroft. So why did I have to do his job?
Honestly, since I was in control of this body, I should be able to do what I wanted to, right?
As I thought about the deaths that happened today, I shook my head.
'I can't do that.'
The deaths that happened in the kingdom were my fault, so the least I could do was to kill more monsters.
A loud, ominous siren rang out in the kingdom.
'Another attack already?'
The annoying feeling intensified, and I clenched the bottle.
"What are you going to do?" He asked.
