They quickly rode their horses, trying to get back to the wall.
"Leaving already?" The monster asked as seven huge rocks started to emerge from the ground and levitate high up in the air.
"The party has just started; you are making me very sad." He said as seven rocks flew towards the knights.
"So here is a farewell gift." The rocks became imbued with flames in the middle of the air.
'This is bad'.
It would have been fine if the rocks flew towards me, but they were flying towards the knights.
"Run!" I shouted, and the knights finally noticed the flying rocks. The knights quickly tried to make the horses faster.
I quickly cast as many barriers as I could, trying to block their paths, but I could only stop four rocks.
The issue was that the rocks were too high up in the air, and I still wasn't proficient in how to make barriers.
So the result was that four of the meteors broke my barriers.
The other three were still flying towards the knights.
The three rocks flew towards the knights as if they had locked on to them.
I tried to summon huge fireballs to attack them, but I was too slow.
It was too late; they would hit the knights, and a lot of them would die.
The blonde knight noticed that they couldn't avoid them, so he quickly jumped out of the horse.
As he landed on the ground, he prepared a battle stance.
The other knights noticed what he did and turned around.
""Captain!"". The other knights shouted.
"Run and don't look back; this is an order!" He shouted back to the knights.
The knights looked at him for a second, but soon their faces resolved, and they continued to ride forward.
A big, golden silhouette of a knight in armor appeared behind him. And veins started to appear on the blonde knight's face.
Is he trying to block the rocks? That's impossible for him; those rocks were too powerful for him.
"You can't block those! Run away!" I shouted back to him.
The rock, as if they had changed targets, flew directly to the blonde knight.
The blonde knight blocked one of the rocks, but the impact was so strong that his feet slid 10 meters backward before the rock stopped.
The silhouette of the knight disappeared, and he had a tired face.
As the other rock was about to hit, he raised his hands, trying to block, but this time the result was a lot worse.
He could barely block the burning rock, and he was smashed to the ground.
The rock moved, and the blonde knight barely stood up.
His body had burn injuries, and his arms were completely broken.
The other rock was charging right at him, but I was so shocked by the sight that I was seeing, that I froze.
He raised his broken arms, trying to block the last rock.
And as I looked at him, he made a small smile, and I could see a small tear form in his eyes.
It was as if this moment lasted an eternity, but time always moved forward.
The rock smashed him directly to the ground, and the mana that I felt coming from his body disappeared.
He died.
"I wanted to kill all of them; it was too bad that only one died." The monster spoke as another rock emerged from the ground: "Here, try your best; entertain me.".
The rock flew directly at me, but I was frozen on the spot.
'Run to the wall. I will block him'.
'This is an order!'
That was all I could think of. It was an order that I gave to him, but now he was dead.
If I hadn't given him that order, would he have lived?
If the rocks had flown towards us instead of us splitting up, would I have been able to block all of the rocks?
'I don't know'.
What am I saying? I already knew the answer.
If I hadn't given them that order, they would all have survived.
Because of me, the blonde knight died.
The scene of him making a small smile as a tear formed in his eyes was engrained deep in my mind.
I didn't know what thoughts he had at his last moments, but I knew that he didn't want to die.
The worst part was that I didn't even know his name.
"I am sorry.".
The flying rock charged towards me, but right before it was about to hit me.
It came to a stop in the middle of the air.
"Interesting, you stopped it?" The monster spoke with an intrigued voice.
"I am sorry." I whispered again.
If only I had found out this before.
The rock that stopped mid-air quickly rushed towards the monster.
"Using my own move against me, that is truly entertaining." The monster laughed.
He punched the burning rock, and it was smashed into pieces.
"Too bad that it doesn't work on me.".
He dashed towards me, and in an instant, he was already right in front of me.
"They told me about humans like you. Humans are good at long range but useless at close range.".
He scratched his head.
"What were those humans called again? Nagi? No, it definitely started with the letter M".
"Well, it doesn't matter. Say hi to me when you meet the blonde guy." He said while charging a punch.
Right before the punch hit me, I blocked it with my hand.
"What is this? I guess you weren't one of those magi people after all.".
He exerted a little more power, but his fist didn't move from my hand.
"Hmm, this is strange. A human has never done this to me. Be proud, human, that--".
My fist landed flat on his face, and because of the knockback, he flew away.
He bounced on the grass multiple times until he finally stopped.
He stood up in struggle.
