Chapter 48 - CHAPTER 45 LIBRARY

His expression is filled with confusion; he turns around and sees no one. He then points at himself, and the librarian ignores him.

"There are multiple people that have been coming and going inside the library for quite a while now; why am I the only person that you talked to? Ah! Is it because I am your type?" he teases.

BAM! A book slaps his head down. He falls to the floor, rubbing his head with a pained expression. He cannot help but complain.

"Why are you so cruel? You know that I am just joking."

The librarian huffs, she sighs and says.

"Why did I talk to you in the first place? I had thought that you were a quiet person at first, but who would have thought that you are actually one of the loudest and most annoying people I meet?"

He just chuckles, not caring about her insults.

He grabs the book that is nearest to him and starts reading at incredible speed. The librarian is not surprised; this is the reason why she talked to him in the first place.

Seeing him grow, she is a bit surprised; she cannot help herself from asking a question.

"What is it that you are reading?"

She had known him for more than a week, and not once had he stumbled on a book. He reads at an incredible speed but still retains and even creates his own thoughts on the things that he has read.

"Oh! This book? It is the introduction to the forbidden grounds of the academy." He shows it to her.

"Are you pondering their existence?" she asks in an excited manner.

He nods and shakes his head. "The existence of these forbidden grounds is something that even the principal has no full knowledge of. I will not ponder over such a great question; I am actually thinking that it is such a coincidence."

She is confused.

He slaps his forehead, forgetting that the person in front of him is a bookworm; she is mostly unaware of what is happening outside of the library.

"It is about the books that I have been reading in this library; most of the time, I would just take any book that piqued my interest, but there are some times that I want to read about a specific topic, and the library seems to read my mind and deliver a book related to that particular topic."

Hearing this, her expression becomes solemn. She takes a deep breath to calm her nerves, grabbing him and taking him to a certain spot inside the library.

"You also feel the same way?" she asks with a dead serious face.

"Hmm, you mean like how the library is basically operating like a living being closely resembling an artificial intelligence? Sheesh, I had that sensation since the first time I spent an entire day inside."

She looks at him with a speechless expression; she cannot help but shout.

"You have been feeling this for such a long time, and you did not tell me!?"

He has to cover his ears. He looks at her with a confused expression.

"Did you ask me about this already?"

She is stunned. She sighs and shakes her head.

"I am unable to comprehend how your mind works; it is common knowledge in the entire academy that the librarians have been searching for evidence that proves that the library is alive!"

He just casually shrugs his shoulders, seemingly not caring about this.

"Hey, why do you think that I am here? Is it not to increase my knowledge regarding this world, including the common knowledge that you talked about? Besides, if the library is truly alive and has only chosen a handful of people to show that it is capable of intelligence, it is basically stating that it does not want to be discovered."

"For years! My senior has been trying to prove its existence! It is incredibly important for us! For me! It might even become my legacy!" She glares at him with a passionate gaze.

"I think that it is not in my best intentions to meddle with the affairs of you librarians and the library; I am just a student wanting to read some books." He raises his hand and tries to escape but is unable to.

The librarian is vastly stronger than him.

"For once, please think about something far greater than yourself!" She screams with determination.

"Okay, okay, you convinced me. I will help you solve the mystery regarding the existence of the living library, but I think that I should first increase my knowledge regarding the forbidden grounds since I am entering one."

"What!? You are entering one!? Absolutely not! You are too important for my plans; I cannot let you die a meaningless death!"

He frowns and becomes angry.

"Hmph! What do you mean by meaningless? My reason for entering one is extremely important! If not, why would I risk my life going to a place that is considered a death sentence for most students!?"

"I do not care! I will not let you endanger your life!" She is very stubborn.

He snorts and does not care about her plans; he looks at her coldly. The earlier friendly and mischievous light is no longer present; what is left is indifference.

The librarian, who is vastly superior to him in power, actually steps back. Her heart races as she senses a powerful pressure coming from his body.

An image of a lying tiger opening one of its eyes and glaring at her and a dragon that is slowly rising out of a wide lake appear in front of her.

She rubs her eyes, and the images disappear, but they feel so real that she is stunned by what has happened.

Leon, himself, does not know what happened or why the librarian let go of him, but he does not care; he fixes his clothes and clicks his mouth before leaving.

Seemingly sensing his emotion, the library starts to act strangely; before the librarian could grab him, he disappeared from her view, stunning her.
