Chapter 39 - CHAPTER 36 THE PORTALS

After their hefty meal, Leon says goodbye to Carefree. Meanwhile, his friend is ready to go back to their room and sleep. His body might be recovering at a rapid pace because of his new ability, but this does not mean that he does not feel pain.

As they return to their room, Leon breaks the silence. "Brother, I think I need to tell you about something. It might be shocking for you, but I think that your current limiter has been broken; you are now capable of earning more normal and advanced genetic enhancement."

Aranold's eyes widened, but he did not say anything. After a couple of seconds of awkward silence, he finally spoke, "Actually, I feel the same thing; my instinct is telling me that what you have said is true."

"Too bad, we are unable to actually enter the Realm of the Thousand Worlds." His friend looks at him like he is stupid, but after realising something, he slaps his forehead.

"I had forgotten about that! You might not know, but the academy does have access to the Realm of the Thousand Worlds; anyone can enter it," he casually stated.

"Then why did I previously not enter it?" he asks. This is such a great opportunity to grow stronger; why did his previous self forsake it?

"The reason for this is that the price for accessing the academy's portal is extremely great; not only will your spawn point be anchored into the academy's training ground, but you will be unable to access other dimensional points."

"Besides, the training ground inside the Realm of the Thousand Worlds is already developed to the point that no one is capable of touching the authorities there; they hog all the great resource points; no one wants to be under some power that restricts their growth."

He can only sigh after hearing his friend's explanation; it seems that he is incapable of using his clone to grind.

[If it is the anchored point that you are worried about, the system is capable of solving it; if there is a danger involved in this, you will be transported to a different location, where there might be no stronghold to keep you safe.]

"If there are no strongholds, how am I able to return to the academy?" he asks.

"What did you say?" Startled, Aranold asks.

He smiles in an embarrassed manner. "Sorry, I am just talking to myself."

'I really need to control myself.' He makes a mental note; he seldom makes mistakes, but this is not an excuse to keep repeating them.

They return to the room, and they are taken aback. The atmosphere inside the room is extremely tense.

"What happened?" He was the one that broke the tension; the triclops looked at him and just snorted; it was the angel-looking roommate that spoke.

"It is those bxstards from room XZ14; they came here earlier, using the letter of challenge to force us to accept their request for a duel!"

Leon's eyes sharpen, as does Aranold; both of them release an aura that surprises the triclops. He scrutinises them but cannot find any great change.

"So, they have challenged us with this letter of challenge; we are unable to refuse their challenge, is that right?" Leon quickly asks.

Aranold shakes his head. "No, you can still refuse, but the result will be horrifying; the higher-ups of the school will think that we are cowards; they will definitely reduce the resources allocated to us."

The triclops added, "Not only that, we will be mocked and looked down upon by the entire academy; it will make our lives here a living hell."

Leon nods his head. "When will the challenge be? I want to prepare as much as I can."

The Aphraxian says, "A month from now, it seems that those bxstards want us to see as much struggle as we can before crushing us."

"Let us see if they can crush us!" Roars Aranold. With his new ability, his confidence when he was still considered a prodigy back in his tribe has slowly returned; he will not cower from such a challenge.

"A month, huh? I think I can grow stronger before then," Leon mumbles to himself, asking the system once again about his earlier question.

[The location, the exact spot where the host will appear, will generate a portal on its own; the Realm of the Thousand Worlds is a powerful and ancient dimension that the system is unable to interfere with, but it has the trait of being susceptible to producing dimensional portals.]

'That will be a problem; I might spark a disaster that will make the academy go after my life.' He shivers at this thought.

He knows that this will most likely happen. The dimensional portals are both opportunities and threats at the same time. The people from the True Worlds are able to enter the Realm of the Thousand Worlds using said portals, but the same can also be said for genetic creatures.

"Hey Ara!" He does not finish his question; his friend has already fallen asleep. It seems that being subjected to beatings from the top rankers has worn him off.

He sits in a meditative position, trying to absorb as much energy as possible. The system is still recovering from the damage done by the blackhole; it can no longer become complete, but at least there is a chance that it can retain some of its abilities before it was nearly destroyed.

His body starts vibrating; it is the same scene as inside the massage room, using his mind to control his muscles. This puts extreme stress on his body and mind, but it also helps him grow stronger without moving exaggeratedly.

The next day, the entire room transforms into a classroom. According to the schedule, their teacher will arrive today and check their current condition.

Giving some advice to make their growth much faster and smoother is one of the greatest appeals of the academy, and Leon is looking forward to this.
