Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 : The Pegasus

Several weeks into his part-time job at Flourish & Blotts, Orion's excitement for the magical world of books was matched only by his burning ambition. Merlin might be the greatest wizard of all time, but still, he had no knowledge about modern times and the magic learned and perfected after he died.

The bookshop gave Orion plenty of time to read all sorts of magic and even some of them were dark in nature or banned by the ministry like Rituals. However, it was no appeal to Orion considering that his cheating mostly covered that part anyway.

One brisk afternoon, after the last customer had left the store, Orion finally decided to approach Marcus with his proposition. Marcus was at the counter, meticulously cataloguing new arrivals, when Orion cleared his throat.

"Um, Mr. Marcus," Orion began tentatively, "I've been thinking about something. You know how much I love books, but I also have this idea, a dream really, about creating a flying broom. I was wondering if you know of anyone who might be interested in partnering with me or guiding me through the process. Well actually I already have created the Broom, what I am exactly looking for is a person who can enter into a business agreement with me, like a partnership,"

Marcus looked up from his work, his bushy eyebrows raised in curiosity. "A flying broom, you say? That's quite an ambitious endeavour for a young wizard. Completed? forgive me but I'm having a hard time believing it, how do you even have the time to make a broom lad, not to mention, is really hard to make a broom, one must understand runes or have a special magical spell to make a broom."

Orion's eyes gleamed with enthusiasm. "Well yes, I just done it in my free time, and when it comes to Runes and special spells, I have created my own, I even have the prototype ready!"

Marcus was of course now interested and a little in disbelief but decided to help out nonetheless.

Marcus leaned back, stroking his chin in thought. "Intriguing, Orion. I might know just the person to help you. There's a skilled magical inventor named Emeric Ironforge who frequents in Diagon Alley. He's always tinkering with magical gadgets and devices. Seek him out; he might be interested in collaborating with a young talent like you."

Orion's eyes widened with excitement. "Emeric Ironforge? The inventor? Thank you so much, Mr. Marcus! I'll go find him right away!"

As Orion left Flourish & Blotts, the anticipation bubbled within him. He made his way through the bustling Diagon Alley until he found the eccentric workshop of Emeric Ironforge. The inventor, surrounded by gears and gadgets, listened intently to Orion's proposal.

At first, it sounded like a child's nonsense and later when Orion said that he even created a prototype Emeric thought that it was Orion playing around.

----

Emeric Ironforge, a wiry wizard with wild silver hair and an array of tools strapped to his robe, was known throughout Diagon Alley for his ingenious inventions. His eyes sparkled with the gleam of a perpetual tinkerer, always on the lookout for the next magical marvel.

Emeric, intrigued by the creation, couldn't resist the opportunity to take it for a spin. At least then maybe Orion leave him alone.

As Orion handed him the Broom code name Rush 120, Emeric eyed the broom with a mixture of excitement and scepticism. "Fastest broom, you say? Let's put it to the test." With a mischievous grin, he mounted the broom and kicked it off the ground.

The Rush 120 responded with a burst of magical energy, propelling them into the sky. Emeric whooped with delight as the wind rushed past, the broom handling like a dream. He weaved effortlessly through the air, executing manoeuvres that would leave even seasoned Quidditch players in awe.

As they descended, Emeric landed with a wide grin, a newfound respect in his eyes. "Orion, my boy, you are a genius! This is no ordinary broom; it's a masterpiece. The speed, the handling—I've never experienced anything like it. We're on the brink of something extraordinary!"

Orion beamed with pride, grateful for Emeric's validation. The Rush 120's success marked a new chapter in both their magical journeys. Of course, he has his book too which is already completed and only the name of the book is not decided yet. He planned to start selling the book before he went back to Hogwarts. This will be the time when he uses that 500 Galleon he got from the Room of Requirement.

Orion could practically see Emeric shaking with excitement and this also brought a rush of confidence in him. He knew that the price of this line of brooms would be higher and the production wouldn't be much either, it would be a Halo Product for those who just want the best. Now he just has to figure out how to market it.

----

In the weeks that followed, Orion worked diligently at Flourish & Blotts during the day, absorbing the magical knowledge hidden in the books and even magical power from some ancient books when no one was looking. In the evenings, he collaborated with Emeric Ironforge, combining their expertise to bring the flying broom concept to life.

Although the prototype was good it was nowhere near the final product, what Orion did was create an extremely powerful and efficient engine but then had to put that engine inside the body of an age-old car, he had to create a totally new body for Rush 120 series, and that exactly he was working with Emeric.

Eventually, the day came when Orion and Emeric unveiled their creation: The Pegasus. A broom that not only soared through the skies but can even put modern aeroplanes to shame, not to mention also protect the rider from high speed, pressure and so on.

Flourish & Blotts proudly displayed the Pegasus in its window, and Orion's dream took flight, soaring high above the enchanted streets of Diagon Alley. The collaboration not only brought innovation to the wizarding world but also cemented Orion's place as a young wizard with boundless potential.

And the best part was that now he had the same magical power as any normal wizard of his age, he could actually use the broom.

Of course, he planned to create something better and unique for himself. Something better than the Pegasus.
