CHAPTER 13
"Did you hear? Neveah and the boss are actually dating, how true do you think it is?"
"I know right? If the tabloids hadn't caught them kissing, I wouldn't have believed it! But you know, they kind of fit each other, she's the best employee here and he's the boss, you know what I mean right?"
"I thought about that too. I read a novel like this some days ago, it's a CEO and employee romance, they even had sex in the office after…"
"Pfft!" Someone spat out their drink and it flew everywhere, instantly, everyone turned to see the person ready to start yelling but instead, their faces went red in embarrassment, Neveah was standing right in front of them, her coffee spilling right out of the cup and her face as red as a tomato.
"Why are you talking about something like that in the office?!" Neveah almost screamed, keyword; almost. It took a great deal of control not to start stammering from embarrassment. Her voice was trembling slightly as the person who just spoke crossed her arms and smirked.
"A lot of people read novels during their free time, Neveah; it's not odd or something unusual. By the way, why are you blushing? Is it because of what I said? About the CEO and his employee having sex in the office late at night because they couldn't go home, was there something wrong with that? Did you and the CEO…"
"I believe that is something that shouldn't concern you?" Nathan's cold voice came from the door and everyone scurried to their seats, sweat dripping from their forehead. He turned towards Neveah, a frown on his face and said to her, "Come and meet me in the office, we have something to talk about. Oh and, you left something at my house yesterday night, I brought it for you, bring your bag along."
Neveah bit her lips and cursed the man in her head; why did he have to say something like that out loud?! Now everyone was staring at her in a funny way, one woman was even wiggling her brows! Without another word, she carried her bag and ran after him; they rode the elevator in silence and until they got to the office, none of them spoke.
"Is this guy in a bad mood? Why isn't he speaking?" Neveah thought to herself but the moment they got to the office, Nathan did two things so fast that Neveah didn't have the chance to react. He locked the door, held her waist and pinned her to the wall, they were so close that they could feel the warmth of each other's body.
"What's this about?" Neveah questioned, she stared at Nathan without blinking. His dark phoenix eyes were beautiful, she felt like she wanted to touch the red birthmark under his eye.
"I figured you were a bit shy back there so I didn't want to make you very overwhelmed, after all, we did a lot of things last night that I shouldn't… humph!" Neveah covered his mouth instantly, the blush coming back to her cheeks.
"Don't you dare say that out loud!"
Nathan chuckled under her palm, the vibrations made a shiver run down Neveah's spine, he gently grabbed her wrists, pulling her palm away from his mouth. For some reason, Neveah thought he was going to lick it.
"Relax kitten, no one can hear us, the doors are soundproof, also, we have a bunch of things to talk about so I had to call you here. Or would you rather let's talk about it in front of everyone? We can go back downstairs if you want to." Nathan pointed towards the door which made Neveah roll her eyes.
"Stop being so sassy, and what is this about me leaving something at your house? I didn't forget anything." Neveah murmured, she made sure to take her underwear as she was leaving, she even cleaned the whole place up because there was sperm and… Bad thoughts! Neveah shook her head to get rid of the thoughts she was having.
"Well…" Nathan leaned back, his voice playful and teasing, "You'll just have to wait and see." He reached into his pocket and brought out a small velvet box, "This is for you." Neveah took the box, her curiosity to see what was inside growing and she opened up the box immediately. When she saw the brand, her eyes widened, Zephora, the most popular and authentic brand in the country.
The moment she opened the velvet box, she gasped, inside the box was a moon shaped pendant hanging on a necklace. It had matching earrings and bangles; the silver chain sparkled in the dim light of the office.
"This is beautiful." She murmured, her fingers slightly traced the pendant, there were little white stones embedded in them.
"Those are diamonds." Nathan suddenly spoke and Neveah almost threw the whole box to the ground, her fingers trembled, "D… Diamonds?"
"Yup." Before she could say anything else, Nathan took the box from here and gently fastened the necklace around her neck and the earrings where it should go. He stared at her and clicked his tongue, "This suits you." He commented, his hands stayed on her skin for a moment longer than necessary.
"I can't…"
"Nope. You aren't taking those things off."
"But I can't…"
"No, you're wearing those and I am not taking them back. As for the rumors, you must have seen the headlines right? I didn't even have to pay for the news to get to the top of the headlines; thankfully, you are a well-known person too." Having received a lot of awards in the past due to her outstanding abilities, Neveah was very well know with her title being, 'The Most Outstanding Employee in Thorne' so most people who were interested in Thorne knew her.
"So what do you think? Should we continue this?" Nathan leaned on the wall, a smirk playing on his lips and Neveah sighed, he really was enjoying this.
"Well, there's no harm in this. It's fun to say the least so let's just continue, I'm enjoying the attention anyway."
