Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14

CHAPTER 14

"Miss, who are you looking for? Do you have an appointment?" The receptionist asked without raising her head but when Lily spoke, the receptionist's face turned pale as she began to apologize profusely.

"I'm sorry Miss Lily, I didn't realize you were the one, I'm so sorry."

Lily waved her hands and smiled, "It's no issue, and it doesn't matter. Is my daddy in his office? I would like to see him now; there is something I wish to talk to him about." The receptionist bit her lips as she tried to figure out what to say, she didn't want to offend Lily, and everyone knows that she is the pride and joy of their CEO.

"Is… there a problem? Is my daddy busy? I can come back later if it is, it's not very… urgent." Lily deflated as she murmured the last word and the receptionist began to stammer.

"N…no, the CEO is in the meeting room, it's just that he's with a bunch of other CEO in a meeting and he asked us not to let anyone in or disturb him, I can give him a call to ask if you can…"

"No, no need for that. I can just wait for him in his office, once he's done, he can meet me there. Thank you for your help." Lily smiled at the receptionist as she ran upstairs.

"She's as cute as ever, I wonder what she is being fed to make her so bubbly every day." They began to speak amongst themselves as Lily left, neither of them noticed the disgusted expression on Lily's face as she left, she even brought out a handkerchief to clean the hands she used to touch the receptionist and then threw it in the trash can after she finished.

"Lily?" A few minutes later, a middle aged man walked into the office and when he saw the figure on the chair, he was surprised. Lily instantly stood up, a happy smile on her lips.

"Dad, are you done with your meeting? The receptionist said that you were having a meeting with other CEO's, have they left?" Lily looked behind him but couldn't find anyone, "They must have gone, I wanted to meet them since I'm going to be running the company next, it'll be good for me to know a lot of people now, right dad?"

Lily's father, Killian laughed and caressed Lily's hair, fondness gleaming in his eyes. Like the receptionist said, everyone in the company knows that Killian loves Lily so much but not the same is said for his other child, if it wasn't for the fact that Lily had mentioned her older sister once or twice, no one in the company would have known about Neveah or the fact that Lily had an elder sister.

"So what brings you here Lily? Don't tell me that you came here to play?" Killian ushered Lily to sit on his own seat while he sat on the table. Lily playfully scoffed, "So I can't come here just to play, dad? That's not fair."

Killian laughed and shook his head, "I'm sorry Lily, you surely can come here to play anytime you want, you don't even have to ask the receptionist before you come, just go straight to my office."

"Alright, but dad, I have something to tell you, it's about Neveah and Liam." The moment Lily mentioned Neveah, Killian's face turned dark, "What about her?"

"Well… Lily… she didn't tell you that she broke up with Liam, did she?"

"What?! Lily broke up with Liam? How dare she?!"

"Oh… She didn't tell you? I thought you knew about it, she even said she'll stop paying the rent for the house and they should move out. Dad, do you think something is wrong with big sister? I saw her with another man some days ago, he looked so old and someone said he is her new um…"

Killian looked like he wanted to shoot fireballs out of his narrowed eyes, "Her new what?"

"Her new… she called it a sugar daddy. Her friend they have been together for a while now, she must have broken up with Liam because of him. Dad, could you call Neveah over for dinner and talk to her? Brother Liam is so heartbroken that he even refuses to eat, I don't want my big sister to fall into the wrong hands." Lily said, her brows were furrowed in concern and there were tears gathering at the corner of her eyes.

"Oh Lily, I know you care so much about your sister but you should let her face the consequences of her actions, soon enough, she'll come back begging Liam to take her. After all, who would want to love an infertile woman like her?" Killian spat out in distaste and Lily almost smiled, her plan would work after all.

"Don't say that, Neveah must have been deceived by someone, I'm sure she did not do it on purpose. Dad, you know that Neveah listens to you, perhaps if you speak to her, she'll go back to Liam who truly loves her, you should have seen his face when Neveah told him that she wanted to break up, he was so sad that he started crying. And he…"

"Hello?" Neveah's phone rang and when she saw the caller Id, her eyes narrowed, what do they want now?

"Come home for dinner." Killian said and merely disconnected the call without waiting for Neveah to say anything; she sighed and rubbed her neck.

"Lily must have gone to tell them something; but I know that it's not the truth."

Anyways, she had to go and perhaps, since she has proof, they would believe her for once in their life. Maybe, just maybe, she thought that they could fix their broken relationship.

"Slap!" Neveah's head turned to the side as her father, Killian, raised his hands on her. In shock, Neveah didn't say anything; she was speechless and then she understood that their relationship was never meant to be mended in the first place.

"Now I realize what they meant by guarding my inner garden fiercely, even though we share the same roots, the thorns must be kept at a distance and this family is wicked than thorns." Neveah not so murmured to herself, angering Killian further.

"And what do you mean by that?!"

"It's meaning father, look up it's meaning if you don't understand it but I will tell you, I am talking about this family; toxic in its every being."
