Chapter 16 - Hardened Arousal

As I stepped into the inner room, my eyes roamed across the space, taking in its tranquil ambiance. A cozy bed beckoned from one corner, accompanied by a wardrobe and a convenient washroom. A thought crossed my mind: Does this guy actually sleep here?

But the words remained trapped within me, unable to escape my lips, especially with that intense expression staring back at me.

Leaning against the door, I felt a lingering ache in my hands now that Benjamin had released his grip.

His intense gaze locked onto me as he leaned closer, his words a whisper in my ear. "You're the cause of all this. So, what are you going to do about it?" His voice dripped with a captivating allure and a touch of sweetness. It was so refreshing and hard to fathom that this guy felt nothing for women.

As I stood there, his words struck me like a blow, causing my legs to weaken beneath me. I never meant for any of this to happen. And what did he expect me to do?

I could still feel his breath lingering on my neck, a tangible presence that made me hesitant to make any sudden movements. "I... I don't get it," I stammered, my heart pounding in my chest.

My heart skipped a beat as he chuckled, his grip on my hands strong and forceful, pulling them towards his pants. In that moment, my entire body went rigid, unable to respond. I felt his hardened arousal pressed against me, a palpable tension between us. Our eyes locked, revealing a mischievous grin on his face yet I couldn't shake the embarrassment enveloping me.

"This is your doing, Emila," he confessed in a husky tone, exerting a subtle pressure on my hands, inviting me to explore the undeniable desire that had taken hold.

My heart raced with anticipation, envisioning the possibility of him leading us to the bed. Though I'm unprepared for such intimacy, his commanding voice and aura compelled me to surrender to his every command, a magnetic force I couldn't resist.

As I poised to question, "I thought you didn't have feelings for...," the abrupt intrusion of his ringing phone silenced my words. His expression swiftly turned chilly as he extracted the device from his pocket, investigating the interruption with a recognized displeasure.

Without glimpsing the caller ID, I observed his expression change instantly. He released my hands, striding out of the room. A sigh of relief escaped me, grateful to the unknown caller who spared me from the impending worst-case scenario.

I made my way to the bed and settled down, my mind swirling with uncertainty. Was he being truthful about not having feelings for women? Or did his desire to be intimate with me mean something more? The thoughts of him consumed me, adding to my growing anxiety. Today was not unfolding as I had hoped.

I paused for a moment, knowing that I couldn't hide in this room forever. No matter what, I had to face the outside world. Summoning every ounce of courage I had, I pushed aside the events that had just unfolded and stepped out into his office. There, I found Benjamin, calmly seated behind his desk, his expression serene.

"Feel free to have lunch at the cafe downstairs. I could really use some alone time."

I quickly left his office, feeling incredibly uncomfortable. All I managed to say was, "Oh... okay."

As I leaned against his door, I couldn't help but release a heavy sigh. I made my way towards the elevator, ready to escape from the discomfort. As I reached the lower floor, it felt like a beehive of activity. Workers hurriedly moved back and forth, clutching various documents. It was a stark contrast to the top floor where Benjamin's office was situated, and where workers seemed to be scarce in their movements.

I wandered around for a bit, realizing that I had no clue how to find the cafe. It was definitely wiser to seek help rather than embarrass myself. I spotted a girl around my age heading my way, I thought she might be able to assist me. So, I approached her, asking for directions.

"Hi there, sorry to bother you, but do you happen to know the directions to the cafe?" I politely asked the girl approaching me.

She flashed me a warm smile and replied, "No problem! Just keep going straight ahead, and you'll spot the cafe."

"Thank you so much!" I expressed my gratitude sincerely, appreciating her help.

"It seems like you're new around here. Well, if you ever need a buddy, I'm Olivia from the research department." Olivia offered with a friendly tone.

"No way, what a coincidence!. I'm the director of the research department too, and today's actually my first day as well." I chuckled, realizing that I hadn't done much work today.

"No way!…You're telling me you're the new director? And the boss really fired Mr. Gerald for a lady? It's so great to meet you, ma'am!". I could see the shock and excitement in her eyes, and for once, it was actually nice talking to someone who didn't see me as less or above her.

"You can call me Emila,no need for the official names. Let's just be buddies." I playfully winked at her before saying goodbye and heading towards the cafe. In my mind, I couldn't help but rephrase her last statement, thinking, 'Did Benjamin really fire someone just for me to take over?' I wasn't sure, so I decided not to jump to conclusions. Who knows, maybe the man had caused him some trouble so he had to let him go.

As I approached the cafe, my eyes fixed on the inviting sight ahead, all thanks to that girl Olivia. My whole body felt weak from the whirlwind of emotions, and I knew I needed some nourishment to face whatever challenges today had in store for me. Just as I was about to reach the cafe, a familiar voice called out to me.

"Emila…"

I turned to see who it was, and to my surprise, it was that despicable man Luke.
