The gravestone Sophia and Luca approached looked to be carved from dark granite. It was wide enough to cover nearly two plots. It happened to be in the center of the cemetery where there were a few trees along the path and it made for a beautifully shaded environment.
As a breeze blew through the trees, knocking a few more leaves onto the ground around the gravestone, Sophia got onto her knees when she made it to her destination and began cleaning things up.
She brushed away the leaves and ran her fingers along the names and dates carved into the stone.
To her surprise, Luca joined her where she was crouched, completely disregarding the slacks he wore which cost as much as a designer bag. She could never turn a blind eye to the expensive things he wore yet he lived in his clothing the same way other men would live in basketball shorts and a t-shirt.
She gave him a small smile. His efforts were never lost on her.
