Chapter 13 - Into Deaths Den

Yang High was known for harboring very powerful children, many of whom were delinquents. It was rumored that the owners of this school were deeply connected to the mafias that ran the city, but their connections were never proven.

However, the fact that a large number of the school's students could be connected to one underground organization or another did nothing to help disprove this rumor.

This was a rumor that Irene, like most other law abiding parents, was unaware of. Most people, looking at the surface, only saw a prestigious educational institution. And it was, until you got to most of the students, who were not as prestigious.

Enemies and friends made here were very significant and had considerable consequences. Most were careful not to upset the wrong people, especially those without underworld connections.

This was not the approach Calyx and Haze took. They picked fights whenever they got the chance and most definitely did not back down from any confrontation, whether it was a heated argument or a physical altercation.

Although most times, such squabbles ended promptly with the school enforcers intervening, it had never gone beyond the boundaries of the school. Not until today, it seemed. Calyx and Haze had finally managed to anger the wrong person.

It was around nine at night, and the warehouse lights were the only illumination around. Haze sat on some stacked boxes as he watched Calyx, the wind swirling around him, blowing his hair.

Then suddenly, the wind dispersed, causing Calyx to let out a grunt of frustration.

"You seem closer," Haze commented as he watched Calyx.

"It doesn't feel like it though. It's like I'm not close in the slightest," Calyx said, his voice tinged with frustration.

"Well, I didn't expect levitating to be easy. You can just show them the other skills," Haze suggested, letting out a yawn.

"But this is the best show of control. There's no way they'd think of suppressing me if I can do this," Calyx explained as his phone began to ring.

"That's probably my mom. It's getting a bit late now," Haze said, jumping off the boxes as Calyx looked at the caller.

"Hmm, no ID," Calyx said as he answered the call, putting it on loudspeaker.

"Hello?" Calyx said.

"Oh, so she finally gave us the right number," the voice spoke from the phone, a voice slightly familiar to Calyx.

"What? Who's this?" Calyx asked, still not sure of the caller.

"Someone you shouldn't have pissed off," the voice from the phone replied.

"Oh, now I know. You're the blind guy from this morning. What the hell do you want?" Calyx asked, his patience waning as he discovered the caller. Haze also began walking away as he heard that.

"Tell me where you are now. We have some scores to settle," Hajun demanded.

"Are you stupid? Why would I do that? Just wait till tomorrow. I'll beat your ass then," Calyx replied, about to cut the call.

"I have your friend," Hajun said, making Calyx's hand freeze as it was just about to hit the end call button. Haze's head turned slightly upon hearing that.

"What?" Calyx asked, confusion etched in his voice.

"I have the girl. If you want..." Hajun began before being promptly interrupted by Calyx.

"Sorai Street on Eleventh, Warehouse 02. Don't waste time," Calyx said, his words filled with bubbling anger.

"Good. It seems you're not a bitch. We'll be there with the girl soon," Hajun said before cutting the call.

"Calm down," Haze said as he saw the anger clouding Calyx, the wind blowing heavily through the warehouse, something Calyx subconsciously did.

"I'll go call someone to take her home," Haze said as he took out his phone to dial a number.

Thirty minutes later, deeper into the night, a car pulled into the front of the warehouse, joining another that was already parked there.

Hajun stepped out of the driver's seat, while two men climbed out of the back seats, dragging Halaine along. The girl who had been with Hajun in the morning exited the passenger seat.

They all walked into the warehouse, with two of the men clutching metal pipes. Upon entering, they saw Calyx and Haze seated at the end of the room, with another man standing beside them.

"You called for backup, I see. You're not as dumb as you look, but it won't make a difference," Hajun said, eyeing the man standing with Calyx and Haze.

"Let her go," Haze demanded, watching as one of the men gripped Halaine's hand tightly. Halaine was in a drowsy state and remained silent.

"Like hell we will," the man holding Halaine retorted.

"No, no. Let her meet them. We'll send them all to the hospital together," Hajun instructed, prompting the man to release Halaine.

She staggered over to Calyx and Haze, swaying unsteadily. As she got closer, Calyx and Haze could see the bruise on her face.

"She wouldn't give us the number, so we had to use a bit of force," Hajun said, as Haze moved to support Halaine, whose pupils were unfocused.

"They... are too... many... let's... run," Halaine mumbled, her words nearly incomprehensible.

"Even after getting physical, she wouldn't talk, so we gave her a little something," Hajun said, smirking maliciously.

Calyx sighed as he stood up, glancing at Halaine before refocusing his attention on Hajun and his group.

"Take her to the hospital," Calyx instructed, as the man and Haze helped Halaine walk towards the parked car outside.

Hajun watched as they began to walk past them to exit the warehouse.

"So he wasn't backup? You really plan on dying alone?" Hajun said, genuinely surprised.

"Backup for what?" Calyx asked, taking his first step towards them, the sound eerily resonating throughout the warehouse.

"Stop them, while I start with this one," Hajun instructed one of the men, just as Halaine was about to enter the car.

Yet, just as the man turned around to go after Halaine and Haze, Calyx was somehow already behind him, propelled by a gust of wind.

Then, with a sickening thud, his hands connected with the man's body, sending him flying back.

"What the hell?" Hajun exclaimed, seeing one of his lackeys slam against the far wall of the warehouse.

"Forget about them, and focus on you dying," Calyx said, his voice soaked in killing intent.
