Chapter 38 - The attack

After that, there wasn't really much for Emily to do, and before she knew it with her time spent almost doing nothing. It was time for her to head to Aerion football practice. After changing, she saw Willy on the bench outside, yet not too far from him, was someone who had red hair, she had seen quite recently.

'Am I imagining things?' Emily wondered, rubbing her eyes.

Willy parents had told him to stay away from Emily cause they believe she's bad influence but he couldn't well he did avoid her for two days and started spending his time with some female art student and that made Emily feel strange.

" He still hasn't apologized "

Strangely, both of them noticed her at the same time, waving Emily over. Willy and Red Sunn then turned to each other, realising that they were both calling the same person. Before the practice officially started Emily quickly ran off meeting with the other two.

"What's going on, why are you here?" Emily asked Red Sunn.

"Huh, how come you already know the transfer student?" Willy asked in surprised confusion. As her best friend, he was quite sure that Emily had not once mentioned someone like Sunn.

"Oh, me and Midnight mai-"

Before Red Sunn could spill the beans that they had met at an underground fighting match, Emily quickly placed her hand over his mouth.

"He's the… brother of… of one of my Salle's friends!" Emily made up on the fly. "It's not often but Salle brings her friends over occasionally, and… well you know where we live. And you know, they just bring their brother along for some reason!"

Emily honestly regretted her cover-up story the moment it left her mouth. Everything sounded like a convoluted lie.

The whole charade told Red Sunn that no one around Emily seemed to know what she was doing.

"Oookay…" Willy replied, clearly not convinced. "Didn't you introduce yourself as an only child though?"

"Well, she was my half-sister. You remember what I said about my scumbag dad leaving us? Didn't really feel the need to go into too much detail about family stuff." Red Sunn added some details, going along with the lie. "Anyway, I think you should go out to the field. From what I've been hearing you're like a minor celebrity now. I've hurt my ribs in an accident recently, so I can't be taking part."

Emily was very thankful that Red Sunn had played along, especially since he seemed to have a far easier time with coming up with stuff. While the team started their practice in earnest, Willy and Red Sunn used that time to talk about Emily. The new student learned a lot about Emily, whereas willy was completely convinced that the other didn't know his best friend at all. For some reason he came to a conclusion, he felt relieved at the fact that he seemed to be the only one who knew about this entire Ghoul situation_ well Sunn made him believe this conclusion.

During a small break, Emily decided that it would be a good time to talk with Sunn, if only to clear up the confusion. She excused herself loudly, claiming that she would take a quick toilet break, while meeting Red Sunn's eyes. A few moments after Emily had left, Red Sunn followed after. Of course, the high schooler had waited outside as it felt awkward to talk in that room.

"What are you doing here? How did you even manage to transfer this quickly?" Emily asked.

"As of today, I'm a student of Elysium Nexus Academy, just like you. I have Daniel to thank for that one." Red Sunn grinned. "I told you that I would be talking to him yesterday, remember? He asked me to inform him if anything happened in the whole Dire fang situation, so I told him everything about yesterday, how he attacked me in school and how you were there to rescue us."

"The next moment, he offered to help me transfer over. Apparently he was going to propose this when we got closer anyway and this 'special situation' was a perfect excuse to speed up the process. Who is Daniel anyway, for him to be able to do this sort of stuff? It's clear that he isn't exactly your average student… "

That was actually a question Emily would like to have answered as well. All she knew about Daniel was that he had money and information, lots of it, and that he wanted to create a gang to get rid of other gangs.

"Yeah…he does have his connections, that's all I know." Emily shrugged and flew back to the Aerion football field.

Over the next few days, Emily continued to do what she did everyday, and every day was news of a mauled human.

"It seemed like Dire fang has given up on me and Red Sunn and started hunting regular humans.

Emily started training with Red Sunn after school. Since Sunn was still recovering at the moment, he could only instruct Emily on how to fight, and in her spare time Emily practiced these moves again and again.

Then finally, something strange happened and It was also the day before Emily's Aerion football match and she was more excited for this than anything. While walking home, she would do so with Willy and Red Sunn, for a short while. A requirement that Daniel had set up.

Then Willy would split off early on to head in a different direction. It was then that Emily found herself in a familiar situation. A group of students had surrounded her, and they all wore the Heaven Dune High uniform.

"Haha." Emily started to laugh, usually she would be annoyed but today she welcomed it, for she could do with the extra exp, at the same time Red Sunn couldn't wait to teach them a lesson.

Unbeknownst to Emily similar scenes were playing out elsewhere. She wasn't the only target of this surprise attack. At that moment, every regular member of the Aerion football club that was supposed to play had been targeted.

In a certain alleyway down the streets of Slough, Heaven Dune High had sent out more students to attack a certain individual compared to others. Walking out of the alleyway into the sunlight with a smile his hands were bloody.

'They attacked me again.' Daniel thought to himself. 'Well I won't be visiting the blood bank today!'

In the alleyway itself, six students could be seen laying down on the floor hurt.
