"Mom, Angel has been..in a frozen state ever since we got back. I don't understand what happened". Veronica sounded extremely worried.
It seemed like Angel was also trying to process what had happened. She's been quiet, eyes remained wide open while she uses her hands feel through her body.
Rita took a deep breath. " Take her upstairs, I'll get your dad and we'll be with you shortly..."
"I'm home...." Delta walked in on them. "What's going on?".
She looked confused, and the look Ron had on her face wasn't very helpful.
"Let's go upstairs, then we'll talk". Veronica said to Delta. "But first....go clean up and we'll have lunch together ".
"Sure".

Some moments later....
"Alright!". She banged the table in Angel's room out of impatience. "I've done everything needed to be done, now can you please tell me what's going on? Something doesn't seem right with Angel".
Silence clouded the whole room as Ron just stared with her eyes squinted. She sighed. "Are you done? Because if you are, I'll just tell you that I don't know either ".
"Are you messing with me right now? You...."
"But... let's hear what Angel has to say"
Just then, they gave Angel the spotlight. The curious gaze Delta gave wasn't going to take no for an answer.
"I think I'm.... going mad". Angel started talking. "For the first time in my life,...I..... I felt...."
" You felt what?".
"Stop interrupting, Delta ". Veronica said.
"At that moment, it felt like time stopped... and I could bask in feeling of.....the feeling of.... So that's what it feels like. The feeling of warmth. I.. it...felt so real, maybe I was just imagining things. When he passed by me, it felt like all the heat deep inside me.... vanished, and all that was left was just.....a new feeling. I'm guessing it was warmth,...or could it be cold? Well I guess I can't know for sure since I've only ever felt heat....." She paused when she found them frozen in shock.
Ever since Angel was born, she had always had a strange thing no one else had...or could feel and understand. The heat within her, which slowly kills her, bit by bit, turning her red hair to black. An unexplainable phenomenon.
No one could understand the reason why Rita chose not to abort the child, despite the fact that the pregnancy was more than torture.
She would always be in constant tremendous amount of pain, lost all appetite but still forced herself to eat for her baby, always worn out even after doing nothing, and most times she would be sweating from all the heat and lost all balance to even move.
Others say it's a cursed child, but Rita said: I've been blessed with such a wonderful gift which others seek. Even if I have to die a hundred times, I would still bring it out to the world and protect it with all I've got. Though Micheal couldn't bear to see her in pain, but he supported her along the way.
Medical reports got out after the child was born, soon later, the government started to target them for scientific experiment which made them move to a new country where they had Veronica and Delta.
"Do you realise what you're saying?!". Delta jumped way too close to her, squeezing her fingers into Angel's shoulders. "If that's actually the case, then I say we find that guy and tie him with you....you know, .... So you won't have to.....die".
"No, I can't do that. What if... just what if my heat kills him, I'll hate myself for as long as I live. He's just a human being like everyone else, I can't take him for my own selfish purpose. Though, now that I know there's a chance to save myself....I actually want to give it a try. I don't...I don't want to die yet. I can't believe I'm saying this, I've gotten selfish ".
"Hey, I'm with Delta on this one. Angel, sometimes..... it's okay to be selfish. Wanting to live is not a bad thing, you have to go through with it when you see an opening. Who knows? It could be fate trying to give you a chance at life so you better grab it, I don't want to lose you". Veronica sounded so concerned and at the same time, relieved.
"Even so, where do I find him? It's a big world..."Angel paused halfway when Rita and Micheal walked right in.
"Sorry, am I interrupting? The door was wide open so I just..... alright, what were you all up to?". Rita pouted for a while, but she started smiling when she noticed her three beautiful daughters smiling wholeheartedly at her.
"We're just happy to have a wonderful mother like you". They said.
"What about me? I'm so jealous". Michael laughed.
"You too, dad. You're both the best ".They all laughed and hugged each other.
Veronica gently pulled Delta out of the room.
"Anything so far? What about Authniel?". She asked.
"Don't worry, I've got it all sorted out " Delta smiled. "He'll give me all the information I need about Authniel pretty soon. When he does, I'll tell you what you have to do".
"What do you mean.... 'he'?".
"Just trust me, I've got a big surprise prepared just for Authniel. He'll definitely love it".
Two days later....
"Why haven't the company called me yet? Don't they consider me?". Angel felt sad.
"It's fine, don't give up too easily, my dear". Rita said as she set breakfast on the dining table.
"No phones at the dinner table, girls". Michael stared especially at Ron.
"Sorry dad". Veronica smiled.
"Can you guys keep it down? I'm trying to focus on this delicious pie in front of me ". Delta complained.
Just then, Angel received a message on her phone. The smile on her face grew obvious to everyone.
"What's wrong, Angel?" Veronica had to ask.
Angel smiled at her. "I got the job".
