Chapter 22 - Chapter(22)

Episode(22): Defeating the final Boss!!

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(22)

It was like the final piece to a confusing puzzle had finally been found. Nagisa's mind became as clear as a still lake in an instant and even his panic was swept away by the overwhelming force of clarity.

He felt like everything up to this point was just a dream, one he had finally awoken from to see reality again.

In this moment, he was so immersed in this feeling and didn't want it to vanish. Time slowed down in his eyes and he smiled serenely as though he wasn't even in danger.

Hatred, anger, frustration, annoyance. Everything was gone.

Instead he was left with the euphoric feeling of being at peace with his existence. As though all the tendons, muscles, bones and cells streaming through his vessels could all be controlled at will. Such a feeling made Nagisa feel like he had become a new species all together!

At the same time, his perception spread out around the entire forest and he could see everything in slow motion. Before he could just sense his surroundings vaguely, now however even down to the minute details on a blade of grass could be felt when he spread his perception.

'Ah…ecstasy!'

Nagisa felt high. No, he didn't just feel high. The feeling of oneness and the clarity it brought with it was like obtaining the eye of god!

Nothing could be hidden and everything could be comprehended under his gaze!

He looked at the wolf boss. It was still thrusting its claws at him but it was extremely slow.

Even though it should have been faster than Nagisa, in his eyes now it was way too slow. It was too bad that he couldn't move as fast as he could see or the wolf would definitely have gone to meet its maker already!

Nagisa ignored the wolf boss after thinking for a while. There was a warm and comfortable energy surging through his entire being and he wanted to know more about this feeling. He knew this energy and it was all too familiar.

It was magic!

However unlike how he had sensed it before, now it felt so pure at this moment. Nagisa concentrated and watched as balls of light travelled through his body and his current perception allowed him to sense it at a deeper level than before.

The feeling was surreal!

(This is how magic truly feels?)

Unlike before where he could only sense its existence in his body. Nagisa could now perfectly sense and understand these bodies of light particles that traveled in and out of his body. It was almost like a second hand.

Magic wasn't just some supportive force, no. It was like a building block of all the existences and the secret to break through the realm of mortals!

Nagisa wanted to know more! He didn't want this feeling to go away at all. However he had something to take care of so it was a pity that he needed to break his chain of concentration.

He lamented inwardly, however on the outside his expression became serious.

Fuu

He let out a breath and decided to focus on ending the enemy. First was to fix his current situation. He was still falling back and the moment he deactivated his perception the world would return to normal where he would hit the ground before being pierced by the wolf's claws.

To him it only looked slow, his body couldn't actually make use of this slow world and move faster at all.

However the current Nagisa was calm. With the complete control over his body that he had gained along with the previous enlightenment, how could the current plight even be called a predicament>

He closed his eyes and opened them. A fluctuation flooded the world and soon the slowed world began to move at the original speed once again.

The wolf boss was still confidently striking at Nagisa's heart thinking that it would definitely kill the human. Once it did, it would feast on its flesh and grow stronger as a boss monster in the dungeon. But it didn't expect what happened next at all.

Nagisa stabbed his sword deep into the ground at his right before tilting his body using all his weight then pushed off the sword and flew away in the opposite direction. Before he did, he drew out the sword and twisted his body. The blade just barely managed to miss chopping off the boss's neck.

The wolf boss's attack continued straight even after Nagisa avoided and struck the ground. Instantly, a loud explosions shook the area as dust clouds and rubble flew in all directions.

Nagisa took a few steps back after regaining balance and looked at the dust clouds that were like smoke after a huge bomb had gone off. The dust clouds traveled in in the air and were soon swept away by the night breeze flowing through the forest.

The wolf boss looked at its neck in disbelief. Black blood unique to the wolf monsters dripped from a shallow wound at its neck. The wound was too small to call severe but at the same time the wound was still there.

[Impossible!]

It roared! Nagisa wasn't surprised to hear it speak since he was already use to it, instead he smiled.

[What's so impossible about it? All I did was slash you so why wouldn't you end up hurt?]

The wolf boss didn't reply, instead it glared at Nagisa with hatred in its eyes. How could a human harm it and bypass its noble defensive fur? A mistake! That's right it had to be a mistake!

Otherwise there was no way a stupid human could harm it at all!

But, it was a mistake that it as the noble wolf king had allowed. It had to get rid of Nagisa to make up for this blot on its record!

[Die!]

Nagisa grinned. He saw the wolf king roar to the moons hanging in the sky before pushing off its two hind legs.

He also stood ready and immediately took his stance prepared for the attack.

Its speed was ten time faster than the lightning wolf and it arrived before Nagisa in an instant. With an attack this fast there was no way the human could react. The wolf thought this.

Of course this would have been correct any other day, however to the current Nagisa the wolf boss's movements were like a snail.

Nagisa lightly took a half step back avoiding the wolf's claw by a hairs breath. There was only a small distance between getting slashed into ribbons yet Nagisa wore an extremely calm expression.

Yes, he wasn't as fast as the wolf. However his upgraded specs made him able to react twenty times faster than the wolf could attack. The very moment the wolf adjusted its body to attack Nagisa could predict where it would attack next. What he had to do after was simple!

Just move his body accordingly!

The wolf king on the other hand thought that Nagisa avoiding was just another coincidence and promptly recovered to attack again.

However how could Nagisa let go of such a prime opportunity? He raised his right leg and without an ounce of mercy his slammed the sole of his foot into the side of the wolf's face.

The wolf released a weird cry as it was sent off flying. Naturally Nagisa flew away as well but this time he merely somersaulted and stomped down. Immediately, all the force that sent him flying traveled through his leg and into the ground creating several cracks and a deep pit.

Nagisa calmly glanced at the wolf boss that was also looking back at him with mad eyes and smiled.

He naturally risked being blasted away to test a certain theory. That was, the wolf boss's skill would activate upon collision with another object.

Check!

That was found out from the start. Second was, even though he could reflect the force of an attack, there was an upper limit to what it could reflect. If an attack surpassing its ability to reflect it came then it would naturally take damage.

And now that Nagisa could control his body and divert that force elsewhere, he naturally no longer feared its ability.

'So simple?'

He almost couldn't believe that he'd once struggled against this guy so long. Before it was an unbeatable enemy but now it was just a fool relying on higher specs. Nagisa naturally disdained such fools.

Its skill was one to be admired though. But Nagisa didn't care for such a broken skill at all.

'Still, it's not like I have enough power to directly surpass its upper limit'

Nagisa thought for a moment and shrugged it off. The current him didn't need power.

'Oneness'

This ability changed it all. Before him there wasn't a perfect opponent in this world. He could spot weakness in their attacks and how to defeat them from miles away.

Nagisa was confident without a shred of doubt, he would win!

It struck out again still trying to convince itself that all that happened was nothing but coincidences.

[Slow]

But in Nagisa's eyes his movements were too slow to catch him off guard.

[I'll give you my thanks wolf king....]

Nagisa said sincerely.

'Thanks to you I was able to grow stronger'

His blade hissed silently like a tiger preparing to pounce on its prey as it was placed in the sheath.

Nagisa circulated his mana smoothly like it was just another part of his body. There weren't any flaws or resistance and the mana had completely become his to use as he willed.

He dulled his mind erasing emotions and distraction solely concentrating on his attack. The more he concentrated the denser the sword energy surging around him became.

Before this was impossible.

If it was the past Nagisa he would confidently shake his head and say that his next move was an impossible feat.

However, like a string slowly guiding him towards beheading his enemy. Nagisa could see it clearly!

His feet crushed the ground as he stomped down with a violent force. Dirt and debris flew all over the place and in the next moment his body blurred before completely disappearing in a streak of blue light.

The wolf king could naturally move faster than Nagisa, but Nagisa was definitely slower that itself. However it didn't know about Nagisa's changes nor that Nagisa now had almost full control over his body and could thus bring out more speed than usual. So when it saw Nagisa vanish all of a sudden it was shocked!

It panicked, but its body couldn't move fast enough to stop his charge and look for his vanished foe.

Behind it, Nagisa's body floated upside down while he spun and at the same time he unsheathed the blade. The blade hummed cheerfully. It was ready to take a life as the mana rushing through it made it light up like a light saber.

At that moment, a violent yet calm tide of surging energy burst out condensing into a terrifying mana blade. The wolf boss felt the chill down its spine but it couldn't move fast enough. By the time it finally turned its body to face Nagisa, its head was already flying through the air seeing nothing but a twisted reality.

Soon, its body fell with a thud. Nagisa also landed on a knee and sheathed the sword before releasing a breath.

Nagisa then stood up and looked down at his destroyed armor and torn shirt and made a wry expression.

'Even though I made the armor expecting it to last a bit longer'

He scratched his cheek wryly. Well, at the least it helped him survive so it could be said that it was a good sacrifice.

Soon he forgot about the armor and looked at the body of the wolf boss.

Laying their without a head, it was completely lifeless. It was like everything just now was just a dream and Nagisa couldn't help but sigh slightly.

[Now all that's left is that monster over there]

With the death of the boss monster, all that was left was to kill the other wolf before it could be set free. Although Nagisa was confident he could sense the wolf even when it vanished, he didn't want to take any chances. Additionally he wanted to move on to the next floor already.

He arrived before the frozen wolf. It was still completely frozen and the effect didn't seem to be wearing off anytime soon.

'It must not have much elemental resistance if it's still affected by the freeze stats'

Looking at the sword in his grasp, Nagisa thought deeply. The freeze stat mainly functioned along with its duration limit. As time went by the freeze stat would get weaker and weaker, especially if one had resistance against certain elements. That was what happened to the other wolves so far.

However looking at this guy made Nagisa know that if they didn't have resistance to elements then they would completely be frozen until the duration of the skill ended.

He nodded as it made sense.

If everyone could basically undo parts of the freeze stats as time went by then the skill itself would be practically useless. Because if they were just frozen then if they have skills like the earth wolf or teleportation or some other long range attacks it'd be easy for them to fire attacks even without moving.

If they had high resistance then the time limit wouldn't matter much. It was different for those without resistance and it would be like stabbing a vampire with a wooden stake.

He soon forgot this matter and place it in the back of his head before swinging his sheathed sword at the frozen figure.

Crack!*

The figure completely shattered into ice particles the next moment. Nagisa looked at this with satisfaction before putting his sword back on his waist with a smile.

[That's the end of that]
