Side Story~(1)
SS: The Sovereign's Past(1)
This is a story that happened before the summoning ritual event had occurred dragging Nagisa and his classmates to another world.
In Japan, Nagisa was on his way home from school.
It was a sunny day, clouds partly filled the skies so even though the day was bright it was a lot cooler than on a regular sunny weather.
Still, whenever the sun broke through the curtain of clouds the scalding heat would be like a sauna.
People desperately waved their hands fanning away the heat hoping for the clouds to return and block the damned sun however this lasted for a long time and the clouds seemed to never want to return.
For Nagisa however, this heat was nothing.
He had a broad smile on his face as he walked on the streets.
How many times had he been placed into a broiler for punishment on basis that it was training? He couldn't recall.
His gramps would even throw him in the broiler while he was sleeping and tie him up so he wouldn't escape.
'Isn't it just abuse at that point?'
No matter how much he thought that, he was too scared to say it to his grandfather.
What if his grandfather felt offended and came up with some new form of punishment? Just the thought of it sent chills down his spine.
[Isn't this just slavery?]
Nagisa had a blank look in his eyes as he thought about it. He could only sigh to the sky in resignation as this was his fate. He wanted to cry but had no tears.
At this moment Nagisa wasn't wearing his glasses since it would get foggy due to the heat but thanks to this a girl walking by saw his face and was staring at him in a daze.
Nagisa inched back in a startle but then he realized that it was because he'd taken off his glasses.
He could only hurriedly put on his glasses before running away.
The girl chuckled lightly. She thought Nagisa was just too shy and ran away because he wasn't use to girls.
[Fufu, I have to tell my friends that I saw a male god today!]
'Come to think of it he was wearing our school uniform…was there such a person at our school?'
The girl typed furiously on her phone while thinking.
At the same time Nagisa was screaming in his mind in a panic.
'Sh*t! Someone actually saw me without my glasses!'
Contrary to what the girl thought, Nagisa wasn't shy at all. Rather he was worried, extremely worried.
If his gramps knew that someone outside of the family saw his real appearance he'd be done for! He felt as if the sword of Damocles was hanging over his head and he was extremely paranoid feeling as if someone was watching him from the shadows.
However due to his highly sensitive sense of perception he soon calmed down knowing there was no one there. However that still didn't calm his panic, if his grandfather really found out he'd be dead meat for sure.
'Maybe I'll just be lynched this time for good and he'll call it punishment?'
Nagisa wouldn't put it past the old coot.
His grandfather was fully capable of sending him to the afterlife and pulling him back from the brink of death. Just thinking about such torture made him shiver.
Nagisa had nightmares whenever it came to his grandfathers 'learning sessions' and he really didn't want to go through another one again.
Just the word lecture on a normal day would cause him to break down in full panic mode.
Nagisa thought and thought but decided to not worry too much.
At any rate, it wasn't as if the old guy would actually kill him. At most he'd get a broken bone or two, no it was actually terrifying to get a broken bone but it was way better than dying so Nagisa had long gotten used to it by now.
Placing the matter at the back of his mind, Nagisa opened his phone and started to scroll the net looking for something to clear his mind.
He was just looking through a few videos when he saw a top trending video of a new café that had just opened. He looked at the name and instantly recognized the café.
'Kanata Gardens'
[This must be the business aunt opened when she asked gramps for the rights to open a new store]
Recalling his beautiful aunt Nagisa smiled slightly. She had short hair only reaching her shoulders but just like every other Kanata her hair was pure blue.
It wasn't the silver blue like Nagisa, but complete blue like the ocean. Her appearance was even better than a models' and Nagisa sometimes wondered why she didn't just venture into that field since she was bound to make a lot more money.
He wasn't worried that someone would take advantage of her.
That much was impossible when it came to someone from the Kanata family. The Kanata family was just too powerful and even as a beauty his aunt shouldn't be underestimated since she was also trained by his grandfather.
Treat her like your average lady and you might just lose the very thing that made you a man!
'It's strange, to think such a sweet goddess would be that old devils daughter'
But her ruthlessness at times really resembled the old coots.
Nagisa shrugged his shoulders. This was just another wonder of the huge wide world.
'But seeing her run a business reminds me that I will have to take over the business soon'
He sighed.
Nagisa didn't want to inherit his family legacy and just wanted to swing his sword without any scruples. His passion for the sword was like a child receiving gifts on Christmas morning.
Even though he had mostly mastered the sword, Nagisa felt like there was still more to learn. However as he got older he knew he couldn't just be willful. If he didn't inherit the family and become the new patriarch then who would?
He could only grit his teeth and learn everything there was to learn about being the family leader.
Learning how to run the business, management and control, making business deals, hiring a professional teams and making sure the market value doesn't decrease. Nagisa had to learn many things after he went to university.
Life after high school only seemed stressful to be honest. He even had a fiancé and had to prepare for marriage the moment he graduated highschool.
'Is this the feudal era?'
Nagisa wanted to curse but there was nothing he could do. It was just a necessary process and a part of his responsibilities.
'If Aoi and I were still friends'
After Nagisa was first adopted by his grandfather and he told him they had both made a promise, his grandfather set a condition that if they could both be in a serious relationship until the end of college without him revealing his background then he would accept their relationship.
Nagisa was naturally excited by this fact, but his excitement quickly turned into disappointment when he met Aoi again.
Forget starting a relationship, she even called him a creepy nerd.
The contemptuous gaze she gave him at the time nearly made him want to spit blood in shock.
'Girl, it's only been a few years. Not even season's change faces so quickly'
Nagisa quickly gave up. He didn't know why Aoi changed that much but it was obvious she didn't want him in her life.
'Not that I hated my arranged bride'
She was from a branch family of the Kanata family and he got along with her ever since he entered the family.
Shirabe Kanae, she also attending the same high school as he did and also wore a disguise to hide her face. All the Kanata's had to wear disguises when they were still in high school simply because their appearance were all out of this world!
Nagisa didn't know what godly genes his family inherited but there wasn't a singly ugly duckling among his family even if their bloodline was thin.
As for Shirabe, she was in a class next to Kanata's but even so the two avoided each other at school and never interacted. Still, the relationship between the two never strained because of this.
'Rather we get along too well'
Shirabe was usually a cold beauty with an aloof temperament, however when it came to spending time with Nagisa she was almost as obsessive as a so called yandere.
Nagisa even felt that if he had actually broken the engagement to be with Aoi, Aoi might have gone missing the very next day!
He heaved a sigh of relief thinking that Aoi really dodged a bullet there.
[Are you getting on?]
A woman's voice rang in his ears. Nagisa heard the screeching of the train and realized the train had arrived before looking at the woman with a gratified smile.
[Yes, thank you!]
'What a nice person'
If not for her shaking him from his absentminded thoughts he would probably need to stand there for another thirty minutes.
As he stepped inside, Nagisa realized the train was packed with people. All the seats were full and those that weren't fast enough had to stand.
He was stunned.
'I thought I left as soon as the bell rang, but this-'
Was there some special event he didn't know about?
With no choice, Nagisa could only stand and grab the hand rail to stabilize himself and not fall over.
Sigh.
The train had long since started moving so there was no way he could get off. At any rate, he could get off the train at another station before taking a taxi to his family villa.
He continued to scroll on his phone looking at martial art videos and cool animations related to martial arts. Nagisa was concentrated on the phone but as a habit he would still keep his guard up and spread his perception from time to time.
He didn't want to be pick pocketed all of a sudden nor did he want to ambushed.
Suddenly he noticed.
The girl just a few inches away from him was squirming uncomfortably.
Her face was red so at first it seemed like she was sick, but his eyes traced the body movement of the girl down to her hip.
Her skirt was ruffled, the train was packed so it was hard to make out but his eyes caught the movement of the skirt and what he saw was a hand fondling the girl's rear.
'Are you kidding me?'
