Chapter 10 - CHAPTER TEN

The friends make their way back to the library. Their breath in the cold as they climb the steps to the front door. Jack looks back at the rest of the group. Tonight has been hell.

"For Cole," he says.

Jack pushes open the door as they step inside. The body Tyler is still laying in a pool of blood in the atrium. They pass him, all looking at the grizzly site the killer had left.

Jack stops for a moment, looking at the body of his fallen friend. He reaches down, closing his eyes.

"I'll get him, mate. I promise," says Jack.

They continue deeper into the library's structure. The dimer than before, almost as if it matches the mood.

"If anyone wants to turn back, now is the time," says Jack.

The group scans each others facial expressions. They all know it needs to end, and the only way to end it is together.

"We're with you," says Skyler.

They returned to the room they were previously at. Quinn runs her hand on the door, the markings from a knife still layed into the hard wood door. She runs her finger over it, and her heart quickens. She pounds her fist into the door.

The rest of the group turned in shock. Quinn looks to her left, grabbing a cnadle stick from the desk beside her. Jack nods his head.

"Spread out, everyone find a weapon," he says.

The friends rummage the room, some finding weapons, and some not being so lucky. Jack turns to find a shillelagh. An old Irish weapon, used in gentlemen dissagreements or bar brawls.

Jack taps it in his hand.

"Can't wait to give this fucker a smack of this," he says.

Jay finds a long wooden stick, traditionally used to pull down white boards in classrooms. Mandy grabs herself a knife that she found in the corner of the room. Skyler breaks the leg of the chair, making a wooden stake of sorts.

"He isn't a vampire, Skyler," says Jay.

"Stick him right through the heart," he replies.

"Yeah, but, mines bigger than yours," says Jay.

The pair smile at one another, clanking their sticks together. Mandy pulls Quinn to a corner of the room. She wipes away a stray tear from her eye.

"What's wrong?" Asks Quinn.

Mandy hesitates for a moment.

"I'm pregnant," she continues, "and I have to use the bathroom."

Quinn pulls Jack into the conversation, letting them know that Mandy needs to use the bathroom immediately. Jack agrees, but only if one of the guys go with them.

"Jay, come with us," says Quinn.

Jay confused follows them out the door, leaving Skyler and Jack alone. The pair sit on the opposite side of the table. Both men are keeping their weapoms close.

"Really, is that necessary?" Asks Skyler.

"I can't take any chances." Jack continues, "You should do the same."

Skyler grips a hold of his weapon tightly, resting it upon the table.

"I'm always ready," says Skyler.

Jay makes sure the coast is clear before he turns the corner. The hallway is mostly in darkness. An individual light flickers on and off when suddenly the power is cut. The girls grip their weapons tightly.

"Ok, Mandy. Go now," says Jay.

Mandy rushes to the bathroom stealthily. Her light tip toes barely make any noise. Jay stands guard outside the bathroom as Quinn waits around the corner. Keeping an eye from that direction.

Suddenly, they hear a scream.
