Chapter 6 - CHAPTER SIX

Jack rushes back from the toilet. He quickly picks up his jacket from the back of the chair. Skyler and Quinn look at him, confused. Jack puts Quinn's jacket on her lap.

"Put that on," he continues, "we're leaving,"

"Jack, we were only talking," replies Quinn.

Jack shakes his head. He picks up his phone, checking the time. 21:20pm. He stuffs it into his pocket, quickly. His breath quickens, and he looks on the table for anything else that might belong to him.

"It isn't that," he continues, "someone called me."

Quinn jumps from her chair, almost knocking it over. She swings her jacket behind her, putting it on with one quick motion. Skyler stands up, also putting on his jacket.

"Reunion cut short, it seems," he says.

They pass Cole as they're walking out of the hotel. He seems confused. He rushes to the table, grabbing his coat. He then follows them outside.

They make their way outside, and they've bumped into Jay. He looks at them all jackets in hand. Skyler throws Jay on his jacket.

"We're not safe here," he continues, "We have to leave."

Quin looks around for Mandy, and she begins to panic. She looks at Jay with her arms extended, almost as if he should know where Mandy is.

"Listen, I went to get her a glass of water from the lobby." He continues, "When I came back, she was gone."

Quinn rushes into the car park, just left of the hotel. She searches frantically for Mandy, to no avail. She doesn't even know which car is hers, if she had come by car at all. The rest follow, checking every car they can see.

She grips her hair, panicking now. Jack rushes to her aid. He drapes his arms around her as Quinn collapses to the floor.

Suddenly, Mandy appears from the front doorxof the hotel. She quickly rushes to Quinn, unsure of what has happened.

Quinn spots her and rushes to her feet. He wraps her arms around Mandy tightly. Mandy confused, hugging Quinn back. Jack breaths a sigh of relief. He looks down at his tires. They've been slashed. Skyler, Jay, and Cole all check their cars, too. They've all been slashed.

"Someone doesn't want us to leave the city," says Cole.

Jack kicks his car, and the alarm goes off. People are looking at the group, their eyebrows raised in suspicion. Jack grabs Quinn's arm.

"Come on, let's get some place private," he continues, "all of us."

The group follows Jack down the street. They talk as they walk, thinking of ideas of why -R would choose to come back now, and why he choosing to fuck with them first.

"Look, all I'm saying is this," he continues, "there is six of us and one of him."

Skyler shakes his head.

"That's not the point. He might be armed," he continues, "We can't take any chances."

Jay nods in agreement. He looks behind him to make sure they aren't being watched. Cole stops. He stares down a dark ally. The rest of the group kept walking, and he turned back to them quickly, rushing to catch up.

They make their way to what seems like an abandoned library. Skyler looks confused, pointing at the building.

"In there?" He asks.

"I have a friend who works security at night. We're safe here," replies Jack.

They make their way up the steps, Jack calling is friends phone from outside. A little time later, they're let in. They make their way to a small room, surrounded by books on multiple levels.

The group gathers around a table in the centre of the room. Their eyes quickly shifted to one another, almost as if trust is dissappearing.

"Listen, someone called me," he continues, "when I went to the bathroom."

"Did it sound like -R?" Asks Skyler.

"They were using some sort of computer generated voice," Jack continues, "It was hard to tell."

Quinn looks concerned. Her eyes spread around the room, checking the balconies. Skyler notices her worry. He makes his way closer to stand next to her.

"Is there a bathroom in this place?" Asks Jay.

"Yeah, on the second floor, why?" Replies Jack.

"I need to go," says Jay.

Skyler nods his head. He knows it's no time to be splitting up.

"I'll go with you," Skyler says.

"We'll all go," says Mandy.

The friends leave the room. The bathrooms are located at opposite ends of the library, on the second floor at least. The group splits into two groups, boys and girls.

Jack nods at Quinn, putting up five fingers to indicate five minutes and the regroup.

A little while later, Jack stands outside the toilets. He waits for the rest of his group. They don't come out, Jack goes back in to check on them. They aren't in the bathroom. He begins to panic.

He rushes from the bathroom, bumping into Quinn.

"Where is everyone?" she asks.

"I don't know," replies Jack.

Suddenly, they hear a loud bang come from the atrium. Jack takes Quinn's hand as he rushes to the sound. Their stomps loud against the cold wooden floor.

They reach the main atrium. Jack finds his friend. He's lying in a pool of blood. Jack rushes to him, sliding his knees across the floor. He grips ahold of his head, shaking him quickly.

"WAKE UP, TYLER, WAKE UP!" he screams.

Suddenly, the lights begin to flash. Quinn grabs ahold of Jack's shoulders.

"Jack, Jack, JACK!" she says.

"What, Quinn?" He asks.

Quinn points to the front door. Someone is standing between them and the exit. They're wearing a long, black trench coat with the collar turned up and a plague doctor mask.

Jack rises to his feet, his hand clenched in a fist and the other in front of Quinn's stomach. The mysterious figure reaches into their coat, pulling a serrated knife. They twiddle the knife between their fingers, beckoning Jack to try and escape.

Jack takes a small step back, pushing Quinn back, too. He turns his head slightly, whispering in her ear.

"Run."
