"I'm not that bad, actually. Level 3 is pretty good! Is it because I exercise daily? Yep, that's the reason, I think," Ethan gave himself some credit after looking at his own stats.
"Hmm, so this is some kind of game system or what? But how did I get it? And what about my healing the wound? That can't be done by this system, right?" Ethan, while still sitting on a bench in the park, was pondering about this so-called system.
Isn't this good? ...
"Hehe, doesn't this system have some x-ray vision or something like that?" Grinning from ear to ear, Ethan thought to himself.
Beep...
"Yes, the system has this sort of ability. To check abilities, please go to the store menu by thinking," the system replied in its usual robotic-type voice.
Beep...
"But the host cannot purchase anything due to insufficient points," the system gave him a stern introduction about itself.
"Hmm, well, at least let me check the store menu, hehe," while thinking "store" in his mind, a store appeared in front of his eyes. Or, more accurately, a store menu came.
There were five categories in the store menu, really well managed.
1. Weapons
2. Elixirs
3. Abilities/Techniques
4. Bloodline
5. Casual
When Ethan saw the Bloodline, he was flabbergasted.
'Can I change my bloodline?'
He was cautious and excited at the same time. He didn't know if it was going to be real or not, but he was looking forward to it.
He opened the weapons category, where there were all kinds of weapons, from modern technology to old swords, everything.
In elixirs, he saw many medicinal items, ranging from small painkillers to reincarnation pills!
"Woah! Isn't this a bit too overpowered?" Ethan was overwhelmed by these things.
In abilities and techniques, there were every sort of technique that one would find in novels and animes. It was quite awesome to look at all these. There were also different eyes with power and different parasites to make enemies their slaves. Eww, that's OP but creepy... Ethan gave himself a warning about it.
"I can learn all these things! I'm gonna be a hero of this society, and then I'll pick up girls—I mean, I'll save the world! Yes, save the world!" After imagining for a bit, he went to the next category, the one he was really looking forward to.
When he clicked on the bloodlines category... nothing came up.
"What the...!!" Ethan clicked again, but nothing happened.
Beep...
"Host's level is too low to check bloodlines," an icy voice came from the system.
"Oh, so there are restrictions too. Hmm, so it's not that OP then," Ethan started detesting the system, not seriously though.
Then he checked the casual category, where there were all daily necessities. There were also vehicles, from a tractor to a Lamborghini. It felt awesome!
"So yo, my system buddy, what should I do to increase my level and gain points?" Ethan thought to himself.
Beep...
"Host should complete missions to gain experience. And there will be a daily mission too. By completing a mission in the given time, points will be rewarded. There is a separate menu for missions," the system gave a brief explanation.
Beep...
"Daily mission has been given to host..."
"Daily Mission: Destroy the chest that host has found. Given time is 22 hours!"
'...You serious, bro?...'

"I couldn't even open it with any sort of tool, then how am I going to destroy it?" Ethan felt cheated by the system.
But he couldn't do anything. He hurriedly went back to his apartment. On his way, he saw different people having different levels, but the majority were still level 1.
As he reached home, he closed his door and also pulled all the curtains down. He wasn't a fool. He knew now that this system came from the chest and the chest isn't anything he could take responsibility for!
He wasn't scared, but he was still cautious of those people and the penalty of the system.
"If the rewards are as good as the things in the store, then the penalty is going to be something big!" Ethan gave an overview of the whole situation.
'I should do something about this chest...'
But as he was getting late for his job, he didn't have any choice but to leave this matter for later. So he washed up and went to his work.
After arriving there, all workers were already there. He gave his greetings and started doing his work.
"Yo, kid, you are late today! Don't tell me you were successful in getting a girl! Hahaha," the old man came to him and started talking, but Ethan didn't pay any attention because he was still thinking of his mission.
"Kid, you listening or not?" The old man gave him a slap on his back that jolted him back to reality.
"Old man, are you trying to make my future wife a widow or what?" Ethan refuted angrily, but he wasn't angry. He knew that the old man was good-natured.
As he saw the level of the old man, he was dumbfounded and kept staring.
"Level 5 (Old man)"

Well, considering his age, maybe it's alright.
"Kid, don't stare at me like that; I'm not into males for God's sake! Even if you can't get a girl, don't stray from the right path!" The old man chided him, while taking a few steps back.
"Look at your age, old man! And why would I fall for men? I'm a healthy straight man!" After saying this, Ethan started working again, not paying any attention to the old man. The old man also laughed loudly and went to his work.
At lunch break, Ethan noticed everybody's level, and they all were level 3. He knew that all these people are used to exercises; that's why.
It was 5 pm. End of his work. As Ethan went outside from the changing room, he saw the manager of this place.
He was shocked. His mouth was agape. He didn't know what to say.

"Level 23 (Lackey of young miss)"

He was around 37 years old. Ethan was still looking at his level, and suddenly his body shuddered.

Thinking till here, he knew that taking the chest was the wrong thing he did.

"Find out the identity of the big boss and the reason for all this process. Time limit 2 months." System went silent after giving the mission.

What did I do that my life is becoming so miserable!! Ethan wanted to cry but no tears to be found.
"Young man?" The manager said again lightly.
"Ah, yes Mr. Manager! Nice to see you in good health." Ethan suddenly blurted out what came to his mind.
"Haha, Keep up the good work." After saying this, the manager went past him. Ethan heaved a sigh of relief.
"What am I going to do about this mission now?" He was worried now. He didn't even know how to finish his daily mission, and now the system gave him another mission.
"I should go home for now." Then Ethan started walking home. As he was passing an alley, he heard something being chewed into.
