Chapter 21 - I Need Your Love Before I Fall

[AGUST]

The distance was killing him.

Agust was so close to going insane even though he had promised himself he wouldn't do anything to his erasthai who was leaving him.

He had cleaned up and rushed after the young wolf, but the more he saw his Jiminie, the more Agust contemplated taking him back home to the dark side of the castle and keeping him close and scared shitless.

It was a shitty way for him to communicate with Jiminie, but it was the only way he knew of, that didn't involve him letting his guard down.

'What the hell am I even doing? Why do I care if he gets mauled just like every other wolf out there?' Agust asked himself, as he continued following the defiant alpha. He loved that the man was still wearing his clothes and with his scent all over, Agust knew Jiminie was a wise one.

Sure, the alpha was mad at the king, but in this, he had won more than just Agust's heart, not that there was anything left in the hollow heart that currently beat only for his Jiminie anyway.

'Perhaps I should just go back home, hmm?' the Lycan king said to himself, given he seemed to be a stalker. But then he couldn't.

The Great Agust wanted to see what would happen. He wanted to see if his Jiminie would be glad that his father, park Dae Hee, was dead. Agust had broken so many of his rules with the young alpha that he knew he was screwed a hundred times over.

However, he didn't mind. For his Jiminie he would do whatever it took. He didn't care if the world burned and Jiminie was holding the lighter. The only thing he wanted was to see him.

His pretty alpha.

His dripping Park.

Watching the alpha's hips sway, Agust wondered if his erasthai was horny at the moment, seeing as his scent used to drive the young alpha nuts. He was tempted to check out that assumption, but he had to remember his sister's advice to keep his distance.

His sister was a bitch, however, even then, she understood Jiminie in ways that her barbaric brother would never. And it was interesting that Agust was following those instructions. Oh, Jiminie.

"Fucking hell!!" the king suddenly growled when he fell face-first into a puddle of water that he hadn't noticed earlier. He had been so busy watching Jiminie's ass that he hadn't bothered to check where he was headed.

At his voice, Jiminie stopped moving.

"No way," the young alpha whispered as he kept looking forward, scared that this was just some nightmare version of freedom and that the king had been following him. He knew he was screwed if Agust knew that he was out here, and alone.

Jiminie wasn't sure what the hell he would do if he saw Agust because honestly, this whole escape was because he didn't want to be the man's pet anymore. The idea scared him and he didn't want to.

The king was barbaric enough with him, but then if caught, Jiminie could already picture himself in hell. An endless hell that gave him nothing and took everything including his soul.

"He can't be out here, right?" Jiminie whispered to himself, and Agust chuckled softly. He loved how terrified his erasthai was of him. It made him want to grab the young alpha and pin him on the nearest tree, only to use him for his pleasure, again.

Maybe he was a bad person, but Agust never claimed to be a saint to anyone. He never tried to make things right with anyone, and he wasn't about to. But if that was so, then why was he out here, watching his mate run away?

'This is So Hee's fault,' Agust said to himself as if it would take away the ache in his heart. He couldn't believe Jiminie had actually packed and left when he was not supposed to be in the castle. That shit pissed Agust off, but he had to stay calm.

"Xiao Xiao?" Jiminie called out, as he finally turned to look at the source of the sound from earlier. He sounded desperate like he was ready to accept whatever fate was headed his way.

He was smart enough to know he would never outsmart the Lycan king, but he hoped that the king would let him go. Jiminie had already accepted the mate bond and whether he liked it or not, there would come a time when Jiminie would come back.

There was only so long that mates could be apart after all, especially now that Jiminie had been fucked more than once, by the damned king of doom.

'Keep going, Jiminie. Go home, I took care of your problem for you. Your father won't ever hurt you again. Go, be happy even if it's without me for a while. You will always come back to me anyway,' Agust thought to himself as he looked at his erasthai.

He had cast a spell on himself so he would be invisible, but he was standing in the muddy poodle, so his drenched clothes were dripping in the puddle. It was not going to be easy to explain if Jiminie caught onto that.

But then maybe, just maybe this once Agust was wishing his mate was stupid, but was he?

"Xiao Xiao?" Jiminie called out again, as he looked at the puddle that was messed up already. However, he figured that he was in the Lycan kingdom, so he wouldn't be surprised if he was stopped by a talking leaf. This kingdom was full of chaos.

"I guess he didn't follow me," Jiminie said with a dejected tone as he moved on with his journey, leaving a confused Agust still standing in the puddle of muddy water. He couldn't really understand what it was that his erasthai wanted.

One moment the pretty alpha was making his way out and leaving, and the next, he was sad that Agust didn't come after him. Wasn't he leaving because he was tired of Agus, or was he leaving because he wanted Agust to follow him?

'What the fuck am I supposed to do, Jiminie? Tell me, what is it you want me to do?' Agust sighed in his thoughts as he helplessly watched his mate disappear again. He couldn't follow him, because he knew he couldn't stop him.

The alpha was needed by his people and Agust needed his erasthai to know what it meant to be free. He didn't care what happened to their bond, as long as Jiminie relaxed and didn't feel unsafe around his father.

The death of Park Dae Hee was the first deviation by Agust, but then if he had to do it again, Agust would, without a second thought, however confusing everything was to him at the moment. He would figure it all out eventually.

Dejectedly, the king made his way back to the lonely palace, after warning all the Lycans in his kingdom not to look at his Jiminie in the wrong way or he would chop them into little tiny pieces and feed their body parts to their families.

It wasn't a nice threat, but then Agust was never nice, right?

Meanwhile, his erasthai walked the roads to the Kiyoto pack, only to make it home to a lonely and grieving pack.

"What happened?"
