CHAPTER 5
~RAULA'S POV~
I peeled my eyes open and a blinding light met my tired orbs. I hissed in pain and shut my eyes close, to heal myself and prevent the light from piercing my eyes.
Where I'm I? Why is it so bright? What happened to…
And that's when it hit me.
The determination to escape. The pain of losing. The cold from the rain. And…Morgana.
She tried to kill.
"She didn't try to kill you. She did kill you."
My eyes fell open at the sound of that Benign voice and I jumped to my feet and looked around to find the source till I stared into the still blue eyes of a woman before me.
The woman before me had white hair at a length I could only dream of with beautiful violet-colored eyes that held three stones in the place of pupils. She's gorgeous in a heavenly way.
The woman smiled at me and I felt the urge to lay in her lap and bare my heart to her, hoping she wouldn't push me away like everyone else had. But the thought flew out of my head when I remembered what she said.
"What do you mean by 'she did kill me' I'm not dead."
"Yes, you are. You've been dead for a year."
I shook my head and stepped away from her, refusing to believe that the woman I once trusted had won over me.
"No, I'm not. If I were then wouldn't that mean you are dead as well."
Her smile grew impossibly wider and if I wasn't drawn to her before then I certainly was now.
"Look around you, Child. Does the place look like what was on earth? You are dead, child. Well, for now at least."
I looked around and was met with nebulas over our heads and stars by my side. The only thing that looked real in this place was the floor I stood on and the throne she sat on.
"Who are you?" I asked with a shaky voice and the reply she gave was enough to shatter my spirit.
"I'm a mother whose children are at war with each other. My name is Luna. But you along with my other children know me as the moon goddess.
I fell to my knees and bowed down to the woman I had prayed to all my life. I bowed down to the woman who had watched out for me and every other werewolf around the world.
Just then I felt the touch of a gentle hand and I pulled into the lap of the woman I had prayed to meet. My Luna. My queen. My goddess. My mother.
"I'm sorry you had to endure so much pain for so long, Raula. I never meant for you to suffer…I never meant for any of you to suffer."
Tears fell from my eyes at the sincerity of her words and yet I couldn't stop the question that fell from my lips.
"But why?" I asked with a broken voice as her hand ran through my hair as a mother would her child's hair.
"Sometimes not even the gods can control everything that happens to our children."
"But now I'm dead, dear goddess."
"Not for long my child."
I looked at her so fast that my neck almost had a whiplash. What does she mean by not for long? As if she could read my mind, the moon goddess spoke.
"What I'm trying to say is. Would you like to be reborn, Raula? Get a second chance to live the life you deserve?"
I looked at her with rounded eyes, waiting for her to change her mind or say that it was all a joke. She didn't. Instead, she looked at me expecting an answer.
"What do you want in return?"
"What makes you think I want something?"
I know you aren't handing me a blank cheque because you think I deserve it."
She looked at me once more and her lips drew into a line and her eyes hardened.
"The moonstone pack," My eyes widened when she called the name of that accursed pack, and sensing my nervousness, she spoke.
"I know you have your doubts about them. But that pack is dying and I need your help to save it."
"What's killing it?" I asked with concern in my voice.
"A war is brewing between two of the gods. A war so catastrophic that if not stopped the moonstone pack would be no more"
A gasp left my lips and my heart ached. I know they have wronged me in so many ways. But that pack is my home and I can't let anything happen to them. So I made my decision.
"I agree. But on one condition."
"Speak, child."
"I don't want to be reborn as an omega."
"Denied."
"Why?"
"Because if I were to change your identity then you would never reach your full potential."
"I don't care–"
"You would if you knew what you're capable of!"
Her tone got harsh as her eyes hardened once more and I knew that challenging her wouldn't end well for me. So I agreed.
"Fine…but I have another condition."
"Speak."
"I want to make Alpha Gonzalo Kenyon and Morgana Lowell pay for what they've done."
She looked at me with amusement in her eyes before she spoke.
"Deal. I don't care what you do to any of them. Just save the pack."
I nodded my head and before I could blink my eyes, I jerked forward and I coughed up water from my lungs.
I looked around and discovered I was no longer in the goddess's realm. I was back up the cliff. The same cliff where my life was brutally ended by someone I called my closest friend.
The rays of the sunset beamed beautifully against my naked form and the clouds danced to the flow of the wind. I looked down at my nakedness and found scars engraved into my skin. Most were from the brutality I faced at the pack and others were from the sharp rocks beneath the cliff.
I looked to my left and found a fresh set of clothes which were probably left there by the goddess and a smile crossed my lips.
I swear that I would save this pack from the enemies they have made.
I picked up the dress and stood to my feet with determination in my heart and vengeance in my mind.
But not before I make Gonzalo Kenyon and Morgana Lowell pay for what they've done.
