Chapter 5 - Killing The Dire Wolf

Darius: "Remember, our goal is not mere chaos. It's a distraction. We strike where Baron Gareth's forces are stretched thin, creating openings for us and confusion for them. Mayor Eldric believes he can control us, but little does he know, Oscana will be caught in a storm of its own making."

Among the bandits, a skilled archer named Serilda steps forward, a fiery determination in her eyes.

Serilda: "This alliance may be a means to an end, but we cannot forget our own ambitions. If Mayor Eldric thinks he can manipulate us, he's sorely mistaken. We must use this chaos to our advantage and carve our own path."

Darius nods in agreement. "Indeed, Serilda. We play our part in this orchestrated chaos, but Oscana will soon realize that we are not to be trifled with. Now, let the nightfall be our cloak, and may the dire wolf of uncertainty reign over the outskirts of Oscana!"

As the bandits disperse into the night, armed with a sense of purpose and the promise of rewards, the forest echoes with the sounds of clinking weapons and whispered plans. Unbeknownst to both Oscana's leaders and the bandits themselves, the stage is set for a series of events that will test the limits of alliances and plunge the region into an unpredictable future.

___

Eldenwood Forest.

Deep in the outskirts of Oscana, under the cover of the dense Eldenwood Forest, Ren and his loyal soldiers move cautiously, tracking the elusive dire wolf that has been terrorizing the village. The moon casts an ethereal glow through the canopy, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.

Ren, leading the expedition with determination in his eyes, signals his soldiers to maintain silence as they navigate the winding paths of the forest. The air is tense, and the soldiers grip their weapons tightly, ready for the encounter that awaits them.

Suddenly, a low growl echoes through the trees. The dire wolf, a formidable creature with dark fur and piercing eyes, emerges from the shadows, its massive form blocking the moonlight.

Ren, drawing his sword, addresses the soldiers in a hushed tone, "Steady, soldiers. We face a formidable opponent, but together, we shall prevail. Hold your ground and strike as one."

The soldiers form a defensive circle around Ren, shields raised and weapons at the ready. The dire wolf, sensing the challenge, bares its teeth and prepares to attack.

Suddenly, Ren realized that instead of the soldier defending him, it was he who had to defend the soldier, use his skill to defend and let his soldier attack.

Ren stepped forward to act as a tanker, holding the beast back while his soldiers attacked the beast.

"Soldier, I am the one who holds back this beast, and all of you go and attack this beast when I give you the command."

Ren, focused on maintaining the dire wolf's attention but that beast too fast and bite his left shoulder.

"Arghh!"

"Fuck these hurts!"

[HP: 120/200] (Status: Bleeding)

Ren, feeling the searing pain from the dire wolf's bite, grits his teeth and continues to hold his ground. The soldiers, understanding their role, launch a coordinated attack on the distracted dire wolf.

Ren activates his Aura Health Point Regeneration skill, allowing a soft, healing aura to envelop him. The bleeding slows, and Ren's health begins to regenerate.

"Soldiers, now! Attack!"

The soldiers, seizing the opportunity, strike with precision. Swords clash against the dire wolf's thick fur, and arrows find their mark. The dire wolf roars in pain, momentarily distracted from its assault on Ren.

Ren, despite the pain, continues to draw the creature's attention, strategically dodging its attacks and creating openings for his soldiers.

As the battle intensifies, the dire wolf exhibits a sudden burst of strength and speed, its eyes glowing with an ominous red hue. The forest seems to respond to the creature's heightened state, shadows deepening, and the air pulsating with an unnatural energy.

"Soldiers, brace yourselves! " Ren Yells to give warning.

The soldiers, alerted by Ren's warning, tighten their formation and prepare for the dire wolf's intensified assault. The creature lunges forward with increased ferocity, its claws slashing through the air.

Ren, still recovering from the previous bite, concentrates on dodging the dire wolf's attack, but some soldiers are hit by the attack.

The dire wolf's claws tear through the shields and armor of the soldiers, inflicting deep wounds and sending them flying. The soldiers scream in agony, some falling to the ground, others struggling to get up.

Ren, witnessing the carnage, feels a surge of anger and adrenaline. He swings his sword with all his might, aiming for the dire wolf's neck. The blade connects, drawing blood and causing the creature to flinch.

Ren, seizing the moment, shouts to his remaining soldiers, "Don't give up, soldiers! We can still win this! Focus your attacks on its head and neck!"

The soldiers, inspired by Ren's courage and leadership, rally their strength and follow his command. They unleash a barrage of attacks on the dire wolf's vulnerable spots, hoping to inflict a fatal blow.

The dire wolf, feeling the pressure, retaliates with a powerful roar that shakes the forest. The sound waves hit Ren and his soldiers like a physical force, stunning them and making them lose their balance.

The dire wolf, taking advantage of their disorientation, charges at Ren, its jaws wide open. Ren, barely able to react, braces himself for the inevitable impact.

"Arghhh!"

The monstrous wolf was able to bite Ren's right hand and cut it off from his body.

[HP: 20/200] (Status Bleeding)

Despite his low health, manages to hold back the dire wolf with his sword, blocking its bite. He feels the beast's hot breath on his face, and its saliva dripping on his wound.

Ren, knowing that he is in a critical situation, tries to push the dire wolf away, hoping to create some distance and buy some time for his soldiers to recover.

Using his remaining strength, shouts to his soldiers, "Soldiers, this is our last chance! Give it everything you have! For Oscana!"

The soldiers, hearing Ren's voice, snap out of their stupor and regain their focus. They see Ren struggling with the dire wolf, and they feel a surge of loyalty and admiration for their leader.

The soldiers, ignoring their pain and fear, charge at the dire wolf, determined to save Ren and end the threat.

"Take this you bastard!"

"Die!"

They attack the creature from all sides, distracting it and creating openings for Ren.

Feeling the dire wolf's grip loosen, takes the opportunity and stabs the beast in the eye, causing it to howl in pain and rage.

Sensing the dire wolf's weakness, delivers the final blow, slashing its throat with his sword. The dire wolf falls to the ground, its blood staining the forest floor.

Ren, exhausted and injured, collapses next to the dire wolf, his sword still in his hand. He looks at his soldiers, some of them lying motionless, others limping towards him.

Ren, feeling a mix of relief and sorrow, smiles weakly and says, "We did it, soldiers. We did it."

"Good job, soldiers. Attend to the wounded."

One of the soldiers attend his wound "Milord your arm!"

Ren, still catching his breath, nods appreciatively. "It's a small sacrifice compared to what we've achieved today. Attend to the wounded and ensure they receive proper care. We'll make our way back to the village and then to Oscana. Our mission here is complete."

As the soldiers tend to the wounded, Ren's mind races with the events that have transpired. The dire wolf defeated, the threat to the village alleviated, but at a cost. The forest, once echoing with the sounds of battle, now settles into an eerie silence.

Village.

Ren and his soldiers return to the village, where grateful villagers greet them. The news of the dire wolf's defeat spreads quickly, and the people express their gratitude for Baron Gareth's intervention.

Village Headman: "Milord Baron Gareth, you have not only secured our road but also rid us of the dire wolf menace. We are forever grateful."

Ren, though weary, addresses the villagers with sincerity. "Your safety is my priority, and I'm glad we could eliminate the threat. Now, let's discuss the trade arrangements. We'll work on establishing a fair and direct trade route to Oscana, bypassing the Merchant's Guild inflated prices."

The villagers, eager for a fair trade that benefits them, nod in agreement. Ren, knowing that this is a step towards gaining the support of the people, takes a moment to thank his loyal soldiers.

Ren: "Soldiers, your bravery and dedication have not gone unnoticed. I am honored to have you by my side. Now, let's make our way back to Oscana. Our work here is done, but the challenges within the city still await us."

The soldiers, acknowledging their leader's words, prepare to escort Ren back to Oscana.
