"Okay, so can you please explain to me what went through your head when you hired her."
The moment they'd reached the room, Jinsol locked the door and stared intensely at her friend. When she'd asked Haneul to help her search for someone who could help her at work. She hadn't thought of the annoying girls who spilled, not once but twice, coffee on her. In addition to that, her phone hadn't been sparred this time.
She would have preferred if Haneul herself could have taken the spot, but the shorter woman already had her hands full working for their family. She didn't want to add some unnecessary workload. The Ims and Hans had always known each other. Haneul's father, Im Kangtae, had worked for their family since before Jinsol was born.
Her grandfather, HM&E founder, always had a liking for the Ims. Mr. Kangtae's father was her grandfather's driver. He permitted her father and Kangtae to practically grow up together. Mr. Im was her father's assistant and trusted advisor. Haneul's mother was one of the maids, and when they later married, her father funded their wedding.
Naturally, her father continued the cycle with Haneul. He funded her education and treated her almost like a daughter.
When Mr. and Mrs. Im passed away, her family fully took Haneul in. She became like the Hans' second daughter. At times, Jinsol even thought that her father would have preferred to have the brunette as his daughter instead of her. She was happy though to have her by her side, though. Without Haneul, Jinsol wasn't sure she would have lasted that long.
Her friend was the one who organized most of the family schedules, managed some stuff in the administrative branch of HM&E, and assisted her father as his third secretary. It can, therefore, be said that the young woman barely had time for herself.
Haneul looked at Jinsol obliviously as if she wasn't on the verge of committing a homicide. Honestly, Jinsol was starting to think that her friend found entertainment in the circumstances.
As for Haneul, In her mind, this was all for the best. The brunette had liked Jiwoo at first glance. The red-headed was full of life and positivity, everything that Jinsol lacked in her life.
She recalled how exhausted and hollow her friend would sound whenever they would speak on the phone on the other end of the line. But it had started even before her departure. The accident had changed her friend to the core. So yes, Haneul enjoyed seeing some reaction coming out of her again. This was, after all, the reason she decided to hire Jiwoo.
"What? I thought she was nice and pretty much suited the job." It wasn't a lie. Haneul really thought that Jiwoo could pull the whole secretary thing out.
She'd done a background check on the redhead just for peace of mind. Despite how much she liked to annoy Jinsol, she would never hinder her friend by hiring someone incompetent.
But she soon realized that Jiwoo was more than perfect for the job. Sure, she lacked some credentials, and the whole thing would be a never-ending learning curve for the redhead, but after reading her report, she knew the redhead would help Jinsol in more ways than she even knew it.
It also turned out that the redhead really needed the money, so hiring her was like killing two birds with one stone. Haneul was doing her best friend duty while helping a woman in need.
Jinsol didn't know what Haneul's motives could be, but whatever her friend was thinking, she wasn't going to agree with it so easily. "How could you say that you were with me when she basically burned me and proceeded to humiliate me in front of a packed coffee shop? And look, she did it again today. And as if that wasn't enough, she also broke my phone screen." Jinsol vigorously waved her phone in front of Haneul's face. Her friend simply rolled her eyes.
"You're rich just buy a new one. And what concerns Jiwoo, I took my precious time and had to sit through hundreds of interviews only to find you a decent secretary. So you should be grateful. Also, you have to admit she's cute."
"What does that have to do with anything? And please, she looks like the little gremlin she is."
Haneul once again rolled her eyes. "Listen, at least do a trial period and see how it goes." Jinsol knew that she'd lost the battle. Haneul had made up her mind, and at that point, there was no point in protesting. When Haneul decided something, it was almost impossible to change his mind. She sighed deeply.
"Okay, but if she ever fuck it up, I'll fire her on the spot." Knowing that she'd won, A victorious smile appeared on the shorter woman's lips. She knew Jinsol could never resist her for too long.
