The continent had a single currency system, with a conversion rate in multiples of ten. One gold coin was equal to ten silver coins, and ten silver coins equaled a hundred bronze coins.
As I nodded, the shopkeeper continued, "That magical beast egg is an A-rank magical beast, and since this is the first time the Magic Guild's guild master has purchased from my shop, I will give you a dimensional storage ring as a gift. Twenty-five gold coins in total. How about it?" he said.
Considering a dimensional storage ring, which I call a spatial storage ring, is around eighty gold coins, this man is offering us the ring for free with the magical egg's purchase. This is great.
I knew this was a lot of money, but my father being the Magic Guild's guild master, his pay was as high as that of a higher official in this kingdom. So, I wasn't worried about money; however, I was worried if my father would accept me buying a costly item, and by the looks of it, he doesn't mind it, I suppose.
"Good. Then show me the dimensional ring too, and I will proceed with the purchase!" My father was certainly happy to hit two birds with one stone and patted my head as he continued, "Seems like your luck won't ever wear out!" giving off a smile.
"Of course, sir!" The shopkeeper said as he brought us a silver spatial storage ring.
Just like the magical beast egg, my father checked the ring too for any fraudulent stuff.
As he thoroughly checked it and felt satisfied with the purchase, he then nodded at the shopkeeper, indicating he was ready to pay.
"Will this be alright?" My father said as he pulled out a black-colored badge from his spatial storage ring and showed the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper was taken aback, "Goodness, sir. The black badge of the Royal family means you can purchase anything for free and have higher authority in the kingdom. Please excuse me for my rudeness. Thank you for shopping in my shop!" The shopkeeper bowed down and spoke more politely than before as sweat dripped from his forehead.
The Black Badge of the royal family? This is the second time my father never mentioned it to me in all these years.
And with this badge, did we just get all our stuff for free? How cool is that.
As my father patted my head, he taught me how to use the spatial storage ring just as we stood in the shop, and I successfully kept my unwanted stuff inside the spatial storage ring. Keeping the magical beast egg safely wrapped up with a cloth, I placed it in my bag, thinking I would take it out after going into the wilderness and travel with it beside me.
As we both walked, my father and I talked about the Magic Guild and about how my life was in the Magic Guild in the past years, as well as the memories of my childhood I spent with my father.
We continued the chit-chat as we both walked over to the teleportation portal's location. And when we reached there, I wore my mask again.
My father smiled and said, "By this time, you may have many questions about me and probably yourself, Ryan. Whatever doubts and questions you have, you are my son, alright?" he said as he pulled out the black badge from before and a necklace from his spatial storage ring, and continued, "And, these things are something that the person who brought you to this world left for you. At least these were the things she had when I met you," he said.
The necklace had peculiar engravings of a crown in front and a tree in the back of its pendant. The pendant was about as small as a copper coin with the same color as the chain.
"Father, it's alright. I know... I'm not really your son, and you have adopted me," I said with a smile, and I could feel tears start to pour out from my eyes.
Well, it's not like he can hide it forever.
In that heartfelt moment, my father and I shared a genuine connection. The weight of unspoken truths and the revelation of my past didn't change the fact that he had been there for me since the beginning, guiding me and caring for me as his own.
"It's alright, Father. We all have our stories, and what matters is the present," I said, reciprocating the embrace.
As we stood there, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the life he had provided me. The uncertainties of my origin were overshadowed by the love and support I had received from my father.
After a while, we broke the embrace, and my father wiped away his tears. "Let's not dwell on the past. We have the present and the future to focus on," he said with a smile.
"I agree, Father," I said as I slowly wiped the tears off my eyes from the holes as I was wearing my mask.
My father gave me the Black Badge and the necklace, which actually belonged to my late mother. I dropped the Black Badge into the spatial storage ring, and with my father's help, I wore the necklace around my neck.
With my last words and farewells, I was ready to face whatever lay ahead. The magical realm held both wonders and trials, and I was eager to explore it all.
Little did I know, this revelation was just the beginning of a series of adventures that would shape my destiny and unravel the mysteries of the magical world. The path ahead was uncertain, but with the bonds forged and the lessons learned, I was prepared to embrace the magic that awaited me.
