Beep,beep, beep,.....
"A slow and steady beeping sound that's all I can hear....but wait...there's also a faint voice like someone is talking to me? no, they're talking to someone else, two voices are speaking but, I don't know what they're saying, maybe I should open my eyes or try to concentrate on what they are saying"
"he's waking up! get the doctor"
"hurry up !"
"doctor? what does that mean? am I in the hospital right now? but how?" the young boy slowly opens his eyes met by a pure white ceiling and the familiar but almost sickening smell of medicine
"I am in the hospital, how did I get here?" he slowly looks around noticing the white environment and some hospital appliances.
"Laiten! Laiten are you okay? come on answer me!"
"Killian? He's here too" he slowly looked towards the source of the voice his gaze landing on his haired best friend staring at him, his worry-filled reddish brown eyes trained on his form on the hospital bed.
"Laiten! Can you hear me?" asks Killian looking at his friend's lying form. Laiten stays quiet for a while before responding.
"yeah, I can hear you" he moves to sit up on the bed still looking around in confusion.
"hey don't just sit up like that, the doctor said you might be feeling a little drowsy" Killian says rushing to his side and helping him sit up leaning him back against a pillow.
"I'm fine"
"I'll be the judge of that young man" They both turn to the source of the voice. At the room entrance stood a slightly buff-looking man in a doctor's uniform holding a clipboard and a few files, he looked to be in his mid-twenties, and he adjusted his glasses giving them a stern look.
"oh doctor Marcus, thank God, he just woke up and-"
"I can see that," Doctor Marcus says walking into the ward, his sharp gaze trained on the now-sitting form of Laiten.
He stopped in front of the teenage boy carefully examining him and taking notes on on his clipboard.
"your vitals are fine, you don't seem to have any symptoms of exhaustion as I had originally expected since you slept so long" adjusting his glasses on his nose
"what do you mean? I was asleep for the night" Laien says looking at the doctor with a confused expression
"the night?! what do you mean you only slept the night?!"
"stop shouting young man this is a hospital," Doctor Marcus says sending a subtle warning glare to Killian
"Sorry sir," he says looking down embarrassed
"you were asleep for two months," he says to Laiten who replies with a shocked expression
"what do you mean two months?!"
"no shouting that's a final warning to both of you," Doctor Marcus says glaring at both of them
"sorry" he mumbles
"anyway, you don't seem to have a serious problem as it is, your vitals are perfect and you seem energetic enough to be shouting so much," he says sending a subtle glare to them before continuing to speak
"so you'll be discharged today, I recommend a lot of rest and if possible stay away from strenuous activity" he continues
"yeah lots of rest you hear that?" chimes Kilian
"and I expect you to help him rest understood?" Doctor says glaring down at him
"yes sir" he replies quickly
"well then, you're free to leave, sign out at the front desk, do not forget your stuff here i will not find you and return them i'm a busy man," he says before walking out of the room leaving both boys alone.
"well um we should get going before he gets back, here I got you a change of clothes," Killian says handing Laiten a bag of clothes.
Laiten takes the bag and stands up from the hospital bed going into the bathroom, a thousand thoughts run through his head as he tries to understand his current situation.
'how did I sleep for a month, what the hell? did I pass out? no, I'm sure the doctor would tell me if I did, then what happened to me?'
"Hey aren't you done already?" Killian asks knocking on the bathroom door
"coming he says back quickly changing into the clothes Killian brought for him.
He out of the bathroom after a bit meeting his friend at the doorway.
"There you are, what took you so long?" Killian asks not expecting an answer and not receiving an answer.
They both walk out of the hospital ward heading to the front desk. As they walk by Laiten glances into a ward his gaze landing on a sickly-looking woman who seems to have been here a long time, she looks up locking gazes with him. He felt a quiet chill run down his spine as he stared into her cold black eyes but what startled him the most was when the lady suddenly grinned her eyes widening slightly and a sharp row of teeth shining under the dim lighting of the room, he jumps back in a bit of fright causing Killian to look at him worriedly as well.
"what's wrong? did something happen, do you need to see Doctor Marcus again?" he asks quietly looking over his friend as if looking for any sign of trouble.
"no, no I-I'm fine I just thought I saw something" Laiten replies glancing back at the ward, the woman still staring at him with that grin that sent danger signals to his brain.
"Okay if you're sure that is," Killian says before walking into the elevator with Laiten.
They reach the ground floor sign out at the front desk and leave the hospital, both boys are glad to inhale fresh air after a while.
They agree to take the train and arrive at Laiten's apartment 20 minutes before Killian leaves for his apartment.
With a sigh Laiten unlocks his apartment door walking into the familiar yet slightly unfamiliar one-room apartment, he walks around making sure everything is the way it was the last time he saw it before sitting on his couch breathing a sigh of relaxation.
"Welcome back chosen one"
