Chapter 19 - Death of Undead(2)

When Luke entered the forest, the skeleton soldiers abruptly stopped pursuing him. The soldiers attempted to locate his presence through Life Sense, but their low level acted as a barrier, preventing them from sensing Luke, who was standing at the extreme edge of the corrupted region while within the forest boundary.

While the undead were searching for him, Luke stood at the border and called out 'Mana Wave' while playing the Lyre.

A blue-colored horizontal compressed wave of mana, transparent enough to be seen with the naked eye, was released from the Lyre through the sound it generated, striking two skeleton warriors from the group of five, causing the two of them to stagger and garnering their 'aggro'(Attention). The two skeleton soldiers sprang up and began sprinting in the direction of the wave, leaving their companions behind.

The two undead were forced to halt their furious dash at the corrupted area's boundary and glance around for Luke, not knowing that if they had just swung around their broken swords, they could have cut Luke. Yes, Luke was approximately a single long step away from them, around 2.5 feet away. Despite being so near, they are unable to detect him owing to the forest masking Luke's life presence.

Luke was in a scenario where even a single step forward would cause the undead to detect his presence, while the undead were constantly moving their heads gazing about here and there with their Life Sense on high alert to discover Luke.

If they had faces, their looks would be comparable to those of predatory creatures that dwell in water, such as sharks, when their prey has escaped from their jaws and landed on land. What else can a shark do but wait and observe their prey for a while? It can only return to its natural habitat after that.

But will Luke let these 2 skeleton soldiers return to the corrupted area? The answer is NOPE!

Luke crouched slowly while placing his Lyre in the inventory, quickly stretched out both his hands forward, and grasped their bony legs with each hand, pulling them towards him with all the power his body could conjure, forcing them to lose balance and tumble backward. Without giving them the chance to get up, Luke dragged both of the fallen undead into the forest with their legs in his hands.

As soon as the skeletons' bodies (bones) struck the forest, they stopped moving, and both skeletons now lay harmlessly at Luke's feet. With a devilish-looking expression on his face, Luke took his mace from the Inventory and muttered, "'Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru."

Soon, the sound of skull smashing rang across the forest, and birds near the vicinity flew away from their nests.

Luke noticed a faint ringing sound in his head, indicating that he had leveled up. Luke thought" Free stats point given for each level up is 5 till Level 20 when the first Job Advancement is available".

Luke said "Allocate 3 points in Stamina and 2 points in Intelligence"

Luke looked down at his mace-wielding hand and thought, "While killing these skeletons and the skeleton from before, I was feeling a little sluggish. Is this due to the curse of the demon? But it shouldn't be possible because the curse's status stated that it is purely for tracking purposes. Or am I forgetting something?"

Luke kept looking around his body and pondering for the reason but soon the realization hit him and he said" I truly am an Idiot".

Luke said" AI, change the pain sensitivity to the maximum"

Soon a screen popped up in front of him showing

The maximum pain sensitivity that may be used with your present gadget is around 90%. Do you really want to turn the sensitivity up to 90%?

Yes/No

Note: While any physical harm you sustain in-game won't have an impact on your actual body, the type of suffering you experience might cause mental trauma.

"Yes," said Luke with a tone full of confidence.

In-game Settings changed

Luke soon saw changes all around him. His sense stat, which could not show its full potential due to demo settings started to show its effects. He moved his body around, and the sensation of playing a VR game was much greater than before.

Now full of confidence, Luke went toward the three last living Undead skeleton soldiers, the mace fastened to his belt around his waist and the lyre in his hand. The undead surged at Luke, sensing his presence.

Luke decided to improve his weapon proficiency and skill level rather than engage in close combat. He continued to run a certain distance while shooting 'Mana Wave' after 'Mana Wave' whenever the cooldown expired.

The last of the undead in the area also joined their friends only to get continuously hit by "Mana Wave".

The skill also had a knockback effect which made it harder for them to catch onto Luke. If someone else were present, it would appear to them as a game of tag between a human and an undead.

While playing tag, Luke reflected, "This is why the Bard Class has an advantage over the Mage and Priest Classes because both Classes need to stand still while using their spells or skills because the Mage Class requires full concentration of mind to first say an incantation then cast a spell or skill and the Priest Class requires a short pray before using any kind of skill." In the future, there will be passive skills that offer benefits such as 'Silent Casting' or 'Cast while moving,' however these skills will be extremely hard to acquire. So mostly players have to train their concentration and increase the mastery of spells or skills if they want to move around while casting. The Bard Class, on the other hand, merely needs to infuse mana in a musical instrument, which will demonstrate its effect by damaging or healing the target dependent on the sort of skill called out before imbuing mana, which can be done while moving about with minimal effort."

Luke does not need such a basic kind of training because of his talent and experiences from the past timeline.

When the MP of Luke depleted to the point where it was not enough to cast the Mana Wave skill, he equipped the mace while keeping away the Lyre in his inventory. He charged straight ahead, the undead could not react to the sudden change in momentum and died soon after receiving one hit from Luke's mace.

After the last undead died there and there was no one left in the corrupted area, Luke again heard the whispering sound but it was so short that he could not make out anything of what the voice said.

Luke soon understood the reason why he was hearing such voices, he looked at his status to confirm his guess
