The arrow curved, hitting the wet soil beside Celestiel.
She stilled, eyes glued to the arrow.
That didn't make sense. The tip of the arrow had been right in front of her face. So close, that if she had leaned forward, she would've touched it.
How was it possible that this creature had missed the shot?
She snapped her head back to look at the creature when it moved. She held her breath, watching it begin to walk away from her.
Did he think she was dead?
He stopped, standing a few feet away from where she sat against the bark of the tree. "I still hear you breathe. To survive a head shot is impressive but you'll bleed out soon enough. Consider yourself lucky that I didn't decide finish you off."
She remained silent, glaring at the creature. He acted like he was doing her a favour. If she really had taken a shot to the head and was still alive, it would be merciful to immediately kill her off instead of letting her bleed out.
