After the consultation session, Brenda requested to speak to Lorenzo privately with her apprentice to discuss Viviana's case further. Viviana had no idea what they spoke about, but when they were done, Lorenzo didn't stay long with her before he excused himself to get back to work.
Viviana felt disheartened upon hearing about her lung damage, making it hard for her to concentrate on her online classes. Seeking to boost her mood, she opted to engage in online gaming. Her go-to game, Call of Duty, despite its violent nature, held a special place in her heart as it was a favorite of Theo's, who had taught her how to play.
Viviana's attention was so immersed in her game, she didn't know when someone came inside the room. Standing by her bedside, the individual observed her play. Kyle, the person who had entered the room, was astounded by Vivi's exceptional skills. Her focused dedication to the game was so intense that it was difficult to believe it was a girl playing, and she approached it with the unwavering focus of someone on a crucial mission. "Your MVP moment and highest kill count are impressive. Do you favour Domination over Battle Royale?" Kyle inquired, catching Viviana off guard with his sudden voice; she hadn't realized there was someone else in the room. "Oh my goodness, are you trying to give me a heart attack? Do you make a habit of startling people like this?" Viviana retorted sharply at Kyle's unexpected presence. She pulled out her AirPods from her ears with one of her hands while the other was on her heaving chest.
Kyle's sudden voice startled her, she almost dropped her phone. By the way, what the hell was he doing in her room? " I didn't mean to startle you, but I was knocking for some time now, but I didn't get a reply and since your door was slightly ajar I decided to check if you were alright whether maybe you were having an attack but when I came in, I saw you were immersed in the game you didn't know I was there. So I got curious to see what you were playing. When I saw how skilled and professional you played, I was marvelled and impressed that I couldn't help but watch until the end." Kyle replied nervously in a single breath, almost like he was rapping because of the looks Viviana was giving him like she caught a red-handed thief.
Viviana saw that Kyle was honest and also nervous, she could see imaginary sweat rush down from his forehead, but it didn't explain why he came to her room in the first place. " So why did you come to my room in the first place?" She demanded an explanation from him, squinting her eyes at him.
"Remember you agreed that I show you around the hospital after consultations today, or have you forgotten." He simply stated, which made Viviana remember their short conversation earlier. "I thought I told you I wasn't interested and that nothing was interesting about the hospital." She mentioned that she was sure that she didn't agree to any tour around the hospital.
"You didn't decline the offer either, so it is the same as accepting. Come on, don't be like that, are you not bored by being stuck here? By the way, you are wonderful at COD, which rank are you." Kyle chimed in an excited voice like a fanboy.
Viviana was marvelled by his reaction. She couldn't help but chuckle, normally other teenagers always reacted this way whenever they saw her play and even Kyle wasn't an exception. " Oh, my rank, I think I am at Legendary." She casually stated. Kyle wasn't shocked at her response because legendary was the highest rank in COD considering how well he saw her play. Her skills were like those of professional gamers who normally stream their games online.
He was also a fan of COD and his skills were not bad since his rank was Grandmaster, a level just below Legendary. He could play as well as some legendary players too, but Viviana's moves are out of this world. " That's impressive. I am presently a grandmaster, although I was at legendary last season before I was ranked down at the beginning of this season. Your skills are great, and you know countless tricks, you were just having fun in that domination match. Please, could you please show me some of your tricks later?" He responded.
" I will think about it. Asides COD, I also play FIFA, Free Fire and a lot of other online games, my brother was the one who taught me to play, he is like a professional gamer and game tester. He even has his own game company and shares in other companies. He did it for fun, and it is also his passion." Viviana sang her brother's praises to Kyle with a proud look on her face.
After that, she and Kyle spoke about several things related to games and even added each other as friends and, with a lot of convincing, Viviana finally followed Kyle to show her around the hospital. Honestly, as Viviana had said before, there wasn't anything fascinating to be seen in a hospital. Kyle showed her an indoor pool with a water heater, a church, and a park that was at the back entrance of the hospital which had a playground and silly Kyle tried to make her go on any slide or swings saying that she was just turning 13 in May so technically she was still a child and not a teenager. That made Viviana start to regret why she told him her birthday. "When I was little, the second year I was admitted to this hospital, that was when my father decided to buy the property behind the hospital and turn it into a park with a large playground because I complained to him that I missed going to my favourite park." Kyle started recalling his past while gently swinging on a chain swing with a Wooden seat, the swing stand had three swings attached to it. Kyle was in the middle one. Viviana was standing by the side because she still insisted on not getting on the swing.
He looked like a child now, despite being six feet tall. "The park was one of the best things that happened to the hospital. It was always filled, especially during spring or summer, so because of that, whenever I wanted to play, most of the rides were already occupied and the playground was the only thing I was interested in, some children run and play around the trees and park I would just seat somewhere and watch them because I would not dare do the same because of my health. So I used to sneak here at night to enjoy the swings and of course, some of my bodyguards used to watch me secretly then…." He paused, staring at the distance like he was stuck in a memory.
" This park was gorgeous then it made me feel like I was out of the hospital. It is such as shame it is winter now and no one wants to stay out in the cold. Are you sure you would rather not swing a little?" He said, turning his attention to Viviana, he was struck for a bit by how cute Viviana looked under the dim streetlight.
" Nope not interested. I think I rather find a seat, my legs are getting tired of standing." Viviana turned down his offer again. " Yeah, I also think so, I am starting to feel dizzy this cold weather and swinging isn't a good combo." Kyle was massaging his forehead with a pained expression before he stood up then continued "Come on, let's find a seat. There is this spot I love sitting at." He said before leading Viviana out of the playground. They walked side by side on the grass, all covered in snow. Everything was covered in snow. Viviana looked around the snow-white environs, imagining what it would look like when it was spring and the snow started to melt.
Kyle led Viviana over a little wooden bridge built over a lake, which the surface was frozen solid. Viviana was a little surprised that there was a lake here, wondering if it was man-made. " Was this lake here before your family bought this property." She inquired, leaning on the bridge rail and staring down at the lake's frozen. Kyle was standing behind her looking around the lakeside, searching for a bench. " Yeah, it was. The property was a lakeside spa which was doing quite well before we bought it. I heard they were Presented with an offer, they found it impossible to turn down. I can spot a bench on the other side, don't you want to sit down again." He replied to Viviana before leaving her on the bridge to sit on a bench he spotted by the lakeside. Viviana started feeling cramps in her leg, so she followed Kyle's suit to also sit on the bench. The bench was covered in snow before, but Kyle had already cleared it for them to sit on it.
" It is beautiful, isn't it?" He asked Viviana the moment she took her seat facing the lake. "Spring enhances its beauty, with blossoming flowers adorning the lakeside view. with birds flying around and fishes jumping in the lake." Viviana started imagining the picture Kyle depicted. " That would be beautiful. You said the lake has fish too." She responded, closing her eyes and letting her imagination run wide.
" Yeah, it does. This lake has an underground channel that leads to the main river ways in the forest close to Port Marino, so fish species found in the rivers can also be found here." Kyle answered Viviana, who gave him an oh reaction after being enlightened by Kyle.
" Do you believe in mystical creatures?" Kyle suddenly asked Viviana, drawing her attention to the strange question.
