Chapter 3 - Confession

It's already 7:00 am on a Sunday morning, and it's almost time for church, but Ndukwe was still far asleep. His room is opposite to his mom's room.

Ndukwe! Ndukwe!! Ndukwe!!!

His mom screams but gets no answer, so she walks to his door and knocks three times while calling his name, but still gets no answer. She says to herself in a low tone as her heart starts beating faster, 'What will I do now? This kind of thing has not happened before.' She was in a state of confusion andscared.

She knocks and screams louder, worrying her other kids. After a couple of minutes, he woke up.

Good morning, mummy! What is wrong? Why is everyone standing at my door? Ndukwe said.

His mom and siblings were relieved. His mom said, 'You got me so worried. I have been knocking at your door for about ten minutes, but you did not answer.' Did you not hear me knocking? What is wrong with you? Always keep your door open.

In fact, I will be taking away the keys to this door, and your younger brother will be sleeping with you from now on.

Go and shower and get ready for church; it's almost 7:20 am now. I will take you to see the pastor (Mr. Ifeanyi) for prayers. I think you need a lot of prayers.

Ndukwe was so surprised and hated starting his morning with negative energy. He said some positive words to himself, as he always does: 'I am going to have a great day; thank you God for a blessed beautiful day.' He said it a couple of times and took his brush and towel to the bathroom to shower.

He did not remember that he had a dream last night. It was like his memory was wiped off.

He loves singing. His voice is terrible but at the same time funny, but he enjoys singing. Ndukwe, can you please shut up and just brush your teeth and shower for church? We are almost late for church and it's because of you," his mom said as she walked past him. Ndukwe felt frustrated and stopped singing.

While he was showering, he started to get flashbacks of what he experienced last night. It was not fully clear to him, but he knew that he saw something last night.

He quickly showered because his mom kept talking and telling him to bathe fast. After about seven minutes, he left the bathroom for his room.

He sat down for a while, trying to remember everything that he saw last night. But there was no time because he needed to get dressed and ready for church.

Ndukwe's mom bathed Daniel her youngest son and got him ready for church, so they left for church at about 8:15 am and arrived 10 minutes later.

Ndukwe loved the praise and worship ministeration, but got bored when the pastor started preaching. The pastor loves talking and spent more than an hour preaching, which caused Ndukwe to doze and take a little nap (while sitting on a plastic chair in church).

Now, he remembered everything and got terrified. He said in a low tone, "I have to talk to someone." The church service lasted for about four hours.

Ndukwe's mom took him to see the pastor, as she had said earlier, and she explained what she had experienced that morning to him.

Ndukwe, told the pastor what he saw last night in his dream, in the presence of his mom. His mom was scared. She said to the pastor, " do you think it's a good dream? The pastor replied, I can't say for now, because he is just too young and I don't know if he knows exactly what he saw. But we are going to pray and seek the consent of God."

He prayed for him and they both left.

On their way home, Ndukwe was having conscious and subconscious thoughts in his mind, 'Am I crazy? Nobody believes what I saw in my dream.' (Inner dialogue)

He thought about it for a while, and was sad that nobody understands him. He said, 'Thank God we are home.' He quickly opened and closed the door of his mom's car and ran straight to his room.
