Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Hearing an unfamiliar name makes ones heart uneasy

After drinking her chamomile tea, Hannah went to the very last room at the corner.

With a feather duster on hand, and a vacuum on the other, she entered the guest room where Jeanne will be sleeping.

She moved around the room swiftly using the duster and vacuuming the dust all over the room.

Hannah went back to her room, taking out a new bed sheet and pillow case, went to the other room and changed the old bed sheet and pillow case to a new one. She also left a newly washed blanket.

She turned on the lamp at the bedside, took a step back to look at the room properly if she had missed a spot to clean. She nods her head feeling satisfied at her work, she clicked on the switch in the room to turn off the light leaving the lamp on at the bedside the light is not too bright nor too dark creating a calming mood.

Hannah went to her own room, it was pitch black but she didn't bother turning the lights. She's been living here for 3 years, she already memorized where the furniture is placed, not that there's a lot to memorize.

As soon as her head touched her soft fluffy pillow, she quickly dozed off heading to dreamland.

Meanwhile Jeanne was in the bathroom, she asked 07 if she could not watch her taking a bath.

07 laughed, almost choking herself and reassured her that she can have her privacy, and told her that she can also request for it.

07 also reminded her that she only had two hours left before the task 2 deadline.

Hearing that Jeanne took her bath in peace, and while she was bathing she already had the laundry running.

.....

She was wearing a striped long sleeved pajama shirt, and striped pajama pants. It was a set and it was not too thick which she liked. As she let her hair dry, she folded the clothes that she had put on the machine. It was that type that also dries the clothes, which is super convenient.

After folding the last piece, she received two pop-up windows. One was white and the other was white blue.

[Task 2 Status: complete]

[Reward: 1x small bottle of random potion]

[Mission Status: complete]

[Mission Reward: one hundred thousand]

[Adding an additional amount of fifty thousand more for the late notice. In the total amount of one hundred fifty thousand cash. The money will be sent to the guest's inventory space.]

Her eyes almost bulged, as she counted the zeroes.

It's not like she was financially struggling, in fact even without their parents her older sister buys her whatever she wants and still has money to spend for herself.

It's just that it's her first time seeing so many zeroes.

She felt at ease, now she can buy her own clothes and buy some ingredients for them to eat. They can even have a feast every day for a few months with this money.

She could even move out and rent a room somewhere cheap, but she thought how convenient it is to be living at the same house with your target so she crossed out the idea.

Jeanne felt as if a weight had been lifted on her tiny shoulders. She doesn't want to be a burden to others especially to Hannah for some reason so earlier she already had thought of finding a part time job.

So receiving money as a reward is truly a bliss, she started to split the money, for her clothes, food, and her bills. Not that Hannah is requiring her to pay her own share of bills but she will pay her.

Even though she received enough money, it would surely arouse suspicion if she suddenly buys a lot of stuff, so finding a part time job is still her priority. And it doesn't hurt to have more.

She skipped her way through while humming, typing everything on her phone's notes so as to not forget everything.

She went to the room where Hannah pointed earlier. Slowly opening the door as she said "excuse me"

Her eyes started to tear up seeing the dimly lit room, which looked overly similar to her own room. Her heart started to ache thinking about her older sister, July. And her friend, Anna.

Even though 07 already reassured her that the time in her world is unmoving, she couldn't stop herself from thinking about them and even started to miss them.

She shook her head thinking, If I do my mission quickly the sooner I can go back home!

Thinking like this is her only motivation to stay sane.

.....

In the other room, darkness completely surrounds the area. Laying on bed, sweating profusely. Her eyes tightly shut, her thick fluffy blanket only covers her lower half.

She muttered a name, a nickname to be exact.

Rache... Rache. She muttered

It was already past midnight when Jeanne heard the notification sound, as soon as she opened her eyes, a light blue window popped-up.

[Mission: help the target forget a painful memory of the past. Any procedure to help the target forget is allowed.]

[Mission Reward is a chance to see a fragment of the target's memory, and a 5000 worth system point.]

[For more information about the system point, the guest may ask her/his appointed helper.]

Her brows wrinkled as she reads the content "painful past"

Just how painful is it for her to have a nightmare?

Sighing as she forcefully moves her body. It's not like she is not willing but helping someone forget something from the past, she is not confident nor qualified to do so.

Jeanne doesn't know what to do to help her.

Entering inside the pitch black room, she tip-toed her way through as to not wake the sleeping person. She's so focused on her feet that she didn't notice a thing in her way. She stepped onto it, freaking out, missing a step leading her to lose balance. She made a slight thud as she tried her best to turn on her side to make less noise.

Her heart started to race, it's so loud that she could hear drums playing in her ears.

Jeanne quickly got up, stared at the area where she could see the bed frame. Her eyes started to adjust in the dark, seeing no movement she sighed in relief and continued her way through the bed.

She heard Hannah calling a name, she said it so intimately but there is also a hint of sadness.

Jeanne started to feel somewhat uneasy, her stomach felt uncomfortable and her heart felt somewhat incomplete, as if there was a hole in it.

She doesn't know why she feels like this when she heard Hannah calling for someone. Is she perhaps starting to feel something special towards her? But they only met just hours ago?

Jeanne pursed her lips, her eyes squinting as she suppressed this confusing emotion she's feeling.

She could see Hannah clearly because her vision is already adjusted to the dark, she could see her sweating and breathing heavily.

Because she didn't bring anything to wipe with, she used the ends of her sleeve to wipe the sweat on Hannah's face.

Feeling a light touch on her face, Hannah slowly opens her eyes, seeing someone tending on her thinking that it was her special person, she put a beautiful smile revealing a dimple that was not so deep.

Raising her hand as she reaches for that person's face and said in a aggrieved tone but also a hint of longing "I was waiting for you? What took you so long?"

After she said those words, her hand that touched the face of her person fell, and her eyes closing slowly as she went back to sleep.

Jeanne was startled when she saw Hannah waking up, looking at her with such a beautiful smile and suddenly touching her face. She knows that this person is not seeing her but another.

Her chest started to hurt even more as if her heart had been pierced multiple times with needles.

Seing that the hand touching her face slowly falling, she caught it and placed it gently.

Jeanne pulled the blanket putting it above her chest to not let her catch a cold.

She looked back a few times before leaving Hannah's room.
