Chapter 5 - Abilities.

[Welcome, Player Aldric. Please select the weapon you will use in the future,] the system prompted, displaying a range of weapons from swords to gauntlets. After careful consideration, Abyss chose the sword.

Aldric knew that if he wanted to became stronger at fast pace he needed to master sword because the skills used in sword combat was diverse.

Author to readers: From this point onward, I will change 'I' to Aldric to make the story easier to understand.

[Weapon selection completed,] the system message confirmed, followed by another message: [Congratulations to the player for selecting a weapon. Your sword mastery will increase twice when using the sword in combat.] Aldric was once again taken aback by this revelation. He thought, "Just participating in combat will increase my sword mastery. I may even surpass the current Swordmaster in Warna." The prospect excited Aldric, and he eagerly clicked next, leading to another message: [Please select your abilities (you can select up to 4 abilities).]

A list of nine abilities appeared on the screen:

•Absorption: Allows the player to absorb the mana cores of living beings to level up and gain abilities from those cores (Active).

Condition to Absorb:The target should be dead.

•Corruption: Enables the player to corrupt the minds of enemies and control them (Active).

Side effect: If the enemy is more powerful than the player, it may corrupt the player's mind.

Seeing the potential side effects of Corruption, Aldric decided to put this ability on the blacklist. He anticipated facing powerful enemies in the future and didn't want to risk his own mental well-being. He continued to review the other abilities.

•Call of the Dead: Summons undead monsters at the cost of 90% of the player's mana (Active).

Side effect: If the player lacks sufficient mana and uses this ability, it may result in the player's death.

Among the listed abilities so far, only Absorption seemed like a decent skill. The others appeared to be traps meant to harm the player who chose them, Aldric thought.

"Is this the system" thought Aldric. He then started to looking at another ability.

•Unknown: Unknown.

"Why is the last ability listed as unknown?" Aldric asked G.O.D., confusion evident on his face. "Huh! What are you saying? That shouldn't be possible. Let me check quickly," G.O.D. responded, looking at the system and expressing shock. "Why are there nine abilities instead of eight? What are they thinking?" G.O.D. muttered with a puzzled expression. "What do you mean by 'what are they thinking'? Who are you talking about?" Aldric inquired. "You don't need to know about them right now," G.O.D. replied. "Go ahead and choose your abilities," he instructed.

"Okay, let's get this over with," Aldric thought to himself.

[Are you sure you want these abilities? If you want the following abilities, please press 'yes',] the system displayed.

"Yes," Aldric clicked, confirming his selection.
