Alpha Philip had just returned home from the conference when he noticed his confidant, John, approaching him in haste.
John came close to Alpha Philip just at the entrance of the house. "Leah got married two nights ago," he revealed. Philip turned sharply at him.
"She did what?" he asked, but John kept his head bowed. "Who did she marry?" Alpha Philip pressed.
"Alpha Tim," John replied.
"You didn't send words to me?" Alpha Philip questioned.
"I did, alpha, but no commoners were permitted into the conference ground," John explained.
Alpha wore rage on his face. "Who permitted her?" he asked, knowing clearly nobody else would permit Leah to get married in his absence apart from his wife.
Alpha Philip stormed into the house and went straight to the room he shared with Tiana.
"Why did you get Leah married without my permission?" he asked.
"Leah is not a child anymore. We have to at least do right by her," Tiana replied.
"You haven't answered me. Why did you let her get married?" he asked again, trying to hold back his inner wolf.
Tiana knew her husband well and understood it took a lot to get on his nerves and a lot to calm him down. But Leah is married now, and nothing will change; he must accept it and move on.
"Philip, I know you are angry, but you'll need to calm down. Leah is married now, and nothing will change it," she asserted.
Philip knew he wasn't going to Blackwood Pack to bring his girl back. "Was she happy?" he asked.
Leah's happiness had always been his major concern. He made sure to manage to make her happy and accommodate her other needs and safety.
Alpha Philip knows he can't keep Leah with him forever, but his only problem is her choice of man. Tim didn't seem well to him.
"Leah was happy, right?" he asked again.
Tiana ushered him into the room properly, helped him take off his clothes, arranged his things, and dropped his suitcase. "Leah was thrilled; her dress was so beautiful. Jade picked out the finest of all," Tiana shared, coming close to him, and they shared a kiss. Tiana knows how special Leah is to her father; what she doesn't understand is why he keeps her close.
Leah's POV:
She woke up that morning feeling excited. She turned to the other side of the bed, but Tim was not by her side. 'Did he stay out all night again?' she thought to herself. She dragged her feet on the floor, grabbed a robe, and wore it. As she walked down the stairs, she heard some people whispering.
She couldn't pick up what was said, so she came out to full view, "Tim, good morning," Leah said, rubbing her eyes.
Tim was standing there with his mother. "Child, how do you feel?" Emilia asked, her arms opened and beckoning Leah to come to her.
"I'm a bit dizzy," Leah replied. "Morning, Tim," she also said to Tim.
"I'm sorry I didn't return last night. Had something that needed my attention urgently. How did you sleep?" he asked.
Leah felt a bit awkward, like she was walking on eggshells. Something was off between the mother and son, but she maintained her cool.
"I did, thank you," Leah replied. She turned to Emilia, who just stood in admiration of them.
"Go and freshen up; breakfast will be ready soon," Emilia said to her.
Leah turned her back and remembered she wanted to ask them something. "I have a little concern," Leah said.
"Go on, Leah, what's bothering you?" Tim asked. "Uhm...I-..." Leah stammered.
"Leah, what's wrong?" Emilia asked.
"I- uh, I know as a Luna they are often celebrated. But nothing is going on for me; it's been a few days," she finally said. Emilia walked to her, patted her head, and said, "The pack knows that you don't have a special ability and don't see any reason to celebrate you. They won't dare disrespect you; we love you and care about you," Emilia said, trying to encourage her.
"We are here for you; nobody will disrespect you because they all fear Tim. Now go and freshen up and come down later for breakfast." Emilia reassured her.
Leah was bothered that she might just be treated the same way she was treated in her own pack. She managed to brush that feeling off and stepped into the waterfall to shower.
After Leah freshened up and went down for breakfast, she saw Alpha Tim and Emilia waiting for her to come down. Leah was dressed in a red flowing gown that was loose but a bit tight on her breast region, revealing her cleavage.
She sat next to Tim, he turned and said to her, "How do you manage to be this pretty every time?"
She returned what he said with a smile, and they began to eat.
"I will be at the study with Ricky; we have impending business to attend to," he said and made way for his study.
"He's always working," Emilia said, looking very proud of her son.
"You seem proud of him," Leah chipped in.
"Oh, yes, I am proud of him," Emilia replied. "That reminds me, would you want to take a little walk with me after breakfast?" Emilia asked almost immediately.
Leah wore a little frown then replied, "My feet hurt a little from yesterday's walk; you can take your morning walk. I'll join you when you want to take the evening walk," she replied.
Emilia excused herself to the kitchen, then took the back door to prepare for her morning walk.
Leah walked around the house, trying not to make noise when she got close to Tim's study room.
She could hear him whisper; he was saying things about getting back into the business and top-up, and she heard him mention blood.
"We are supposed to ship the already-made blood capsules to our customers. We need to be back on track; we need more blood; we need to abstract blood from the lycan," he said to Ricky.
Leah's heart began to race, and she took the other door to the main entrance and from there found her way back to the bedroom.
She sat on the bed thinking of what she had just heard, what shipment was Alpha Tim talking about? What was Alpha Tim into?
Leah took in a deep breath and got up again, heading towards the study room. She stood for some time, waiting to hear any sound or noise. When she didn't hear any of it, she slid the door open and entered.
She began to search his table; she needed to gather more information on what Tim was handling and what business he was into.
She stumbled upon a piece of paper that had a map drawing. "Where does this lead?" she said in a whisper. She slowly folded it, hid it with her dress, and stepped out of the study. She hurriedly walked back to the room.
Leah's thoughts were occupied with what she had heard; she didn't know who to talk to. "Why did Tim mention blood? What business is he into?"
She bombarded herself with questions with no answer.
Tim had told her earlier he was into business. He took over from his father, who took over from his own father as well.
Her curiosity made her walk down the stairs; she walked slowly and tried not to be seen by anyone.
She followed where the map led her. She walked discreetly and made sure not to be noticed.
The map led her into the woods, and she wondered what was hidden in the woods. She trusted her instincts and kept going.
