3 months passed and it was winter. Konoha was covered in snow and I had fewer missions. Me and Hanabi were currently training in our garden because Hanabi wanted to learn from me how to change the course of shurikens in the air. She had been training for 2 weeks and was slowly making progress and I helped her as best I could. I built moving targets for her. I moved them with a leash, which made her training a little more realistic.
Sato: You're doing great, pay attention to the strength and speed of your first thrown shurikens and how they rotate, darling!
Hanabi threw her first two shurikens and then her seconds, they collided in the air and one hit my moving snow man's head and the other hit his chest bullet.
Hanabi jumped up and cheered with her hands in the air.
Hanabi: I did it Sato!
She ran to me and kissed me.
Sato: You did well, shall we stop and warm up a little inside?
Hanabi: Yes, I'm a little cold too.
We went into our house and took off our coats and sat comfortably on our couch in front of our fireplace.
Sato: Honey, I'll get some more wood from the garden.
Hanabi: Come back quickly, I want to cuddle with you!
I went outside and was grabbing some logs when Shizune suddenly stood next to me.
Shizune: Hello Sato, Tsunade sent me to get you for a mission.
Sato: Today of all days, she knew that I wanted to have a nice weekend with Hanabi?
Shizune: Sorry, no one else was available right now.
Sato: I'll tell Hanabi, come in for a moment.
I went into our house with Shizune and went to Hanabi in the living room and put the wood in front of the fireplace.
Sato: Darling, I have to go on a mission, aunt couldn't find anyone else.
Hanabi: What? But what about my cuddle time?
I sat next to Hanabi and kissed her.
Sato: I'm sorry, but I'll make it up on another day, I promise.
Hanabi looked at me and then shook her head.
Hanabi: Agreed, but then you have to make me one of your weapons too!
Sato: Agreed, but you're not allowed to use it until you get out of the academy and only allowed to use it when I'm with you.
Hanabi started smiling and said, "Deal!"
I gave her another kiss and then went back to Shizune in the hallway. I put on my jacket and Jonin vest and opened a portal to Auntie. Me and Shizune entered the room and aunt looked at both of us.
Tsunade: I know and I'm sorry.
Sato: So what's the mission about?
Tsunade: It might take your team a moment to get here, so I better tell you what this is about before they get here.
A few days ago there was an ambush from Kirigakure and a jonin Bura Inuzuka died while stopping the attackers from killing his genin team. His team escaped with minor injuries and you are supposed to take over his role as their team leader.
My jaw dropped.
Sato: Why me?
Tsunade: The three genin have civilian backgrounds and we couldn't find anyone to take over the team. You know how difficult it can be for ninja with a civilian background to even get into a Jonin team and the three of them really tried hard to learn as much as possible and have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, her Jonin died on their first mission outside the village.
Sato: You know that I'm only 14 years old?
Tsunade: I know it will be hard for you and that you have to invest a lot of time, but please do it for me?
Aunty gave me her puppy-dog look.
Sato: Auntie, stop it.
Tsunade: Their names are Fui Raga, Kana Tuzi and Linn Goki and you will like them.
Sato: What are their abilities?
Aunt took a file from her desk and gave it to me. I took the file and went through it and something immediately struck me.
Sato: Aunt, why can the three of them only do the basic Jutsu's?
Tsunade: Because they have civilian backgrounds.
Sato: But their Jonin must have taught them something?
Tsunade: They just don't have such an easy life as you have it and I think their Jonin wasn't meant to teach them Jutsu, but to give them support and protect them until they were experienced enough.
Sato: But teaching them Jutsu increases their survivability?
Tsunade: Normally most Civil Ninja get access to Jutsu's through a purchase in our Jutsu archive and have to save money for a long time to get a Jutsu.
Sato: I see, clans really seem to have it easier and now that you mention it, Sakura knew almost no jutsu either, only a few second rate genjutsu until she was on my team and I taught her some.
Tsunade: Sakura was very grateful to you for that too.
Sato: She never said anything about her financial situation determining her strength.
Tsunade: Most Civilian Ninja don't want charity, they also have their pride and work harder than others to learn something new.
Sato: But why do you choose me?
Tsunade: You have the best stats in the village and you are like an encyclopedia and very sensitive. The three of them blame each other for what happened to their sensei and I think you are very experienced in dealing with people who are easily affected.
Sato: I understand. You owe me something for that.
Tsunade: You get a free ticket for your little secret.
I twitched my eyes briefly.
Sato: I don't know what you're talking about, aunt?
Auntie started smiling.
Tsunade: Your unpleasant clients all had strange experiences after you completed your missions with them?
Sato: That must be a coincidence.
Tsunade: From today on, if you make an effort, I'll see it as a coincidence.
Sato: That's blackmail aunt.
Tsunade: Blackmail is such a harsh word. I would rather call it a deal.
Sato: Then you never ask questions about it!
Tsunade: Sounds like we have a deal.
After a few minutes, two girls and a boy entered the room and looked at me nervously.
Tsunade: This is my nephew, Sato Senju. He will be your new Jonin team leader from today onwards.
Sato: Hello you three, nice to meet you.
All three replied: "Nice to meet you too!"
Sato: Then let's go to my clan compound and see what your talents are.
I left the office with all three and went with them to our Senju Clan dojo. We were greeted by Neji at the entrance to the compound.
Neji: Sato, who are these three?
Sato: This is my new genin team. Why are you at the gate, you will catch a cold?
Neji: I was guarding the area and saw with my Byakugan that you were coming with someone and wanted to know if I could let those people in, in the future.
Sato: Yes, you can let them in at any time and now go back to your house. It's at least -5°C out here.
Neji: Fine, I'll memorize their faces.
I opened the gate and entered the dojo with the three of them, which I first had to warm up with a fireplace.
Sato: Then I would say, let's introduce ourselves to each other first and no secrets! I'm starting. My name is Sato Senju and I'm 14 years old, you are the first team I'm supposed to lead. I can do pretty much every Jutsu and have survived all of my missions without any injuries. I am married to Hanabi Hyuga and enjoy swimming and fishing.
And now to you and please don't leave anything out.
The boy stood up, he was about 1.45m tall, had long brown hair that he wore in a ponytail and was wearing very battered brown clothes.
Fui: My name is Fui Raga and I am 12 years old. I live with my very sick mother and my 7 year old sister and I'm trying to get enough money for my mother's medicine and I take care of my little sister and that's why I became a ninja and I've mastered the three basic jutsu's.
One of the girls stood up. She has short blonde hair and green eyes and wears a long brown sweater and long black pants and was 1.40 m tall.
Kana: My name is Kana Tuzi and I live with Linn in a small apartment. We are both orphans and I am 12 years old and I want to make as much money as possible, so we can both buy a house together. And I also mastered the three basic jutsu's.
And the last girl stood up. She had orange hair and wore it in two pigtails at the back of her head. She wore glasses and was wearing a pink sweater and long brown pants and was 1.35 m tall.
Linn: My name is Linn Goki, I'm 11 years old and like Kana said we live together and are best friends and I have the same goal as her. I also master the three basic jutsu's. But I saved enough money to buy a D rank jutsu soon, but I don't know which one yet.
Sato: Well, first I'll go with Fui to his mother and you two will train this jutsu here in the meantime.
I threw a jutsu scroll at both of them and they looked at me in amazement.
Linn: Are you serious Sensei Sato?
Sato: That's only 2 D rank genjutsu, I think you have enough chakra control for that, right?
Linn: Only 2D rank genjutsu? I've been saving money for 5 months just to buy one and I was starving some days.
Sato: You don't need that anymore, if you want to learn a jutsu you can come to me.
I took Fui and went to his house.
I stood with him in front of the building and looked at him.
Sato: This is where you live?
He blushed and nodded.
Sato: You don't have to be embarrassed, it has to be hard for your family.
Fui: I'm trying my best.
We entered the rubble building that didn't even have a functioning door and a little girl ran into Fui's arms.
Girl: Nii San, you're back, did you bring anything to eat?
Fui: Unfortunately not Lewii.
Lewii: It's a shame, because I'm hungry and I'm sure mom is hungry too.
I reached into my bag and pulled out a scroll and laid it open on the ground. I summoned supplies and clothing.
Sato: Here little girl, eat anything you want.
Fui: Sensei, we can't accept that.
Sato: Take me to your mother and don't complain.
Lewii didn't hesitate and helped herself to something to eat.
Lewii: Thank you very much, I was starving.
Sato: Gladly.
Fui then took me to his mother, she was lying on a cold stone floor and had a thin cloth blanket over her, the windows were broken and the temperature in the room was at maximum 3°C. Fui's mother had a severe fever and was in critical condition.
I leaned over her cloth blanket and put some of Majaji's rainwater in her mouth. The next moment she felt better and fell asleep peacefully.
Sato: I healed your mother, but you can't stay here. Pack your important things and then I'll give you one of our houses.
Fui: But we can't accept that.
Sato: Your mother would have died today, if I hadn't come here. You have no say in this matter or do you want the same thing to happen to your sister?
Fui: No, I don't want that.
Fui started crying and his sister tried to comfort him.
Lewii: Don't cry Nii San.
Then the little one also started crying while hugging her brother.
Fui: But I did everything I could?
Fui cried desperately as his tears streamed down his face.
Sato: Sometimes it's not enough that we do everything we can, sometimes you need the help of others Fui.
Fui cried for 10 more minutes until he calmed down.
Sato: Now pack your things.
The two of them looked for the most important papers and stuffed animals and I opened a portal and brought the three of them into their new house.
Sato: I know it's not the cleanest house, but I hope you like it.
I took Fui's mother upstairs to one of the bedrooms and went back down to the others.
Sato: There's more food here for you and if there's anything else you can come to the dojo. You explain everything to your mother, when she wakes up. I go to the others to train with them.
Fui got on his knees in front of me and Lewii followed suit.
Fui: Thank you Sensei, thank you for saving my mother and letting us live here.
Sato: You are my student from now on and I can't just let your family die, so this was all just to avoid damaging my reputation. So get up and take a warm bath with your sister first. I'll bring you new clothes later, yours are pretty damaged.
And of course you will also get the D rank jutsu from me later and you should learn it as quickly as possible.
Fui: I will.
I then went back to Linn and Kana.
Kana: Sensei, where did you leave Fui?
Sato: I took him and his family to a house in our clan territory and gave him the day off.
Kana: Why did you do that?
Sato: He lived in a rubble house with his family and his mother almost died today, because the house was too broken to keep out the cold.
Linn: That sounds terrible, he never said that his family was doing so badly.
Sato: He was probably too embarrassed to accept help and tried to keep his family afloat on his own. You don't live in a house with broken windows, do you?
Kana: No, our apartment is not big, but it is nice and warm and cozy.
Sato: Well, then that's not one of your problems, is there anything else that's bothering you.
Linn: We don't fully understand how the jutsu works and what we need to focus more on when using it.
Sato: Is it about visualizing the jutsu, transferring it or breaking the jutsu?
Linn: It's about transmission. The jutsu is based on smell and makes the opponent feel sick, but how can we increase the intensity.
Sato: The effect is more likely to be noticed by the opponent with a strong smell, so that the jutsu loses its intensity. So you should use a weak scent that your enemy is not familiar with to increase the intensity. If one of you volunteers, I'll show you.
Linn raised her arm and I used the hand sign for the jutsu and the next moment Linn vomited in the middle of the floor. And couldn't stop gagging. I finished the jutsu and Linn blushed.
Kana: Sensei, what scent did you use for the jutsu?
Sato: I took the smell of dust. If you channel chakra into your nose and increase your sense of smell, you can smell the dust and use it almost anywhere.
The next moment I removed the contents of Linn's stomach from the floor and ended training for the day.
